Background / History
Eastern Lord Duke was drawn to the Valley of Tang by a sensed opportunity and initially concealed himself while Emperor Jun fought the Fusang Tree. Emperor Jun's victory caused Eastern Lord Duke's aura to leak, exposing him. When Golden Immortals surrounded both men, Eastern Lord Duke proposed cooperation, beginning their first alliance. 3 4
He and Emperor Jun combined Pure Yang Energy with Solar Trueflame to defeat Demonic Cultivators. Their early victories made Eastern Lord Duke overconfident, and he soon wished to fight independently rather than remain Emperor Jun's support. 5 6 9
Wangshu trained him and Emperor Jun for over a hundred years before they entered the Dao-Devil Conflict. Eastern Lord Duke pledged to fight the demonic side to the end, but he grew envious as Emperor Jun's fame and strength rapidly eclipsed his own. 8 9 12
After the conflict, he pursued power in Zifu Continent. During his breakthrough to Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal, he overcame Daoist Lihuo's attempting possession, devoured the remnant soul, and obtained a portion of its legacy. 44
He later attempted to recruit Emperor Jun, Taiyi, Xihe, Changxi, and the Moon Laurel Tree into his faction. These efforts damaged his former rapport with Emperor Jun, who stripped Wangshu's Daoist Sect Fortune from him and ordered him never to return to the Sun or Moon Stars. 48 49 50 51
Hongjun appointed him Leader of Male Immortals and granted him the Dragon Head Staff. Using this status, Eastern Lord Duke gathered cultivators, developed the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, and established the Celestial Court. 71 76 84
Personality
Eastern Lord Duke is ambitious, status-conscious, and intensely competitive with Emperor Jun. He repeatedly measures himself against Emperor Jun and seeks recognition, influence, and the chance to surpass him. 12 21 22
He can be sincere and cooperative when facing a common threat, as demonstrated during his early partnership with Emperor Jun. However, early successes made him prone to overconfidence, while later defeats and political setbacks drove him toward desperation. 4 5 88 254
His desire to govern the Primordial World becomes increasingly ruthless. He treats living beings as resources for the Celestial Court and ultimately authorizes the slaughter of the Human Race to forge a weapon against the Wu Tribe. 92 375
