The distance between the two sides had not been great to begin with. Moreover, the two men seemed to have used some forbidden technique that stimulated their combat power, charging madly as if in a fight to the death. In the blink of an eye, they had rushed to within five meters of Green. In less than a second, they would be able to form a pincer attack and kill this detestable culprit.
Yet Green remained unhurried. He did not rush to flee, merely raised his staff and gave it a flick, releasing the Bone Spikes he had prepared long ago.
Under Green's deliberate training, Bone Spikes had already reached the absurd level of LV6. Even an Advanced Formal Mage might not be able to train Bone Spikes to such a degree. As the spell was released, a succession of loud bangs erupted, and dense, razor-sharp stone spikes of varying lengths shot up from beneath the ground directly before Green.
The two men came too quickly. By the time they noticed the phantom magic circles spinning beneath their feet, it was already too late to dodge. They could only roar, their blood and energy surging through their bodies as they raised their protective battle aura to its strongest in an attempt to block the attack. But they had underestimated the power of Bone Spikes. If it had been an ordinary Bone Spikes spell, their response would have been correct. Their powerful protective battle aura could not only block the bone spikes, but even shatter them. However, Green's magic was no simple Bone Spikes. The hard, honed stone spikes were sharper than knives, and they launched at tremendous speed, generating massive kinetic force. With magical damage clinging to them, they pierced straight through the battle aura. With a wet puff, they almost simultaneously stabbed viciously through both men's bodies.
"Ah~~~~"
Their shrill screams instantly echoed throughout the entire pyramid hall.
Green stood where he was, expressionless, and ordered the Hard-Skin Ghoul to finish them off and end their lives completely.
Watching the Hard-Skin Ghoul efficiently strike each of the two howling men once in the head, silencing them at once, Green looked away and turned toward that abruptly appeared **. A smile suddenly appeared on his face. "Madam, could you explain what just happened?"
At last, the woman revealed an expression of panic, fear, and helpless confusion. This time, it was not an act. She was genuinely frightened. Surrounded by Skeleton Soldiers, escape was no longer possible. With dozens of pitch-black gun muzzles glowing with enchantments aimed at her, even someone of Formal Rank had absolutely no chance of turning defeat into victory.
Green looked at her, the corner of his mouth curling upward. That cold smile carried not the slightest hint of lewdness; it was a true sneer, filled with chilling killing intent.
The next moment, before the woman could answer, he directly raised his hand and fired!
With a bang, the shot blew apart her head!
The woman's face was filled with astonishment. She had never expected Green to suddenly fire. Although her head had been blasted apart, the remaining headless body did not fall. Instead, a faint blue, stardust-like substance sprayed from the wound. At the same time, with another bang, two whip-like vines shot out from her back like venomous snakes, rapidly striking at Green.
Unfortunately, Green had already been on guard. The reason he had suddenly fired before letting her speak was because he had noticed something wrong with the woman. On the surface, she looked human, but she possessed no human vitality at all. Instead, she resembled a clay statue or a toy doll, something without life that nonetheless carried a soul from a higher dimension.
This reminded Green of the Tower of Yin Spirits' records. The highest ideal of this cult organization was to welcome the Void Yin Spirits they worshipped into the human world. Yet true Void Yin Spirits could not simply arrive in the human world at will. Though powerful, they were bound by the void and unable to break free. They could only split off one-thousandth of their consciousness and descend into the human world by parasitizing a specific vessel.
The Tower of Yin Spirits had once used pregnant women to create demon fetuses, nurturing so-called Void Sons as vessels for the Yin Spirits' consciousness avatars to descend into the world. Unfortunately, several attempts had failed because kidnapping pregnant women and forcibly impregnating women had stirred up enormous public pressure, making it impossible for the government and police to turn a blind eye. Green had not expected there to be a hidden side to it all. The Tower of Yin Spirits had actually succeeded in creating this Yin Spirit Parasite.
Unfortunately, this Yin Spirit Parasite was pathetically weak. The soul split off by the Void Yin Spirit was only a few thousandths of its original body, and much of it had been consumed while crossing the void. By the time it descended into the demon fetus, less than one-tenth of its Void Spirit Energy remained. That was why this Yin Spirit Parasite possessed only some half-baked mental seduction abilities. Even more unfortunately, it had encountered Green. Because his body had undergone Semi-Lichification, Green could maintain a calm mind and clear thoughts almost at all times, rendering him invisibly immune to the Yin Spirit Parasite's mental seduction. Otherwise, if it had been anyone else, a single exchange of gazes would have been enough to make them fall into its spell. Those two men riddled with holes by Bone Spikes had likely been bewitched into risking their lives in battle under those circumstances.
The two venomous-snake-like vines had been noticed by Green the moment they pierced out from the woman's headless corpse. Without a second of hesitation, he immediately ordered an attack.
"Bang bang bang bang~~~~"
After a burst of wild gunfire, hundreds of enchanted bullets had already blasted the Yin Spirit Parasite beyond recognition. The two attacking vines were also intercepted by the Hard-Skin Ghoul, which swung the bone blades on its arms and chopped them into several pieces.
Even so, the Yin Spirit Parasite still did not die. It directly transformed into a writhing mass of rotten flesh, transmitting emotions of venomous resentment and hatred.
This made Green frown. There seemed to be little he could do about it. Unless he could erase that trace of the Void Yin Spirit's soul, there was no way to kill this Yin Spirit Parasite completely.
Fortunately, the battle here had already ended. After giving it some thought, Green did not dwell on it and decisively chose to retreat. As for trying to see whether the Graveyard could absorb the Yin Spirit Parasite, he was unwilling to take such a risk for an unknown benefit. Whether it succeeded or not, it was simply too dangerous. The Graveyard was the foundation upon which Green survived and established himself in this world. If something went wrong—if he failed to erase the Yin Spirit and instead had the Graveyard contaminated by its consciousness, thereby losing the entire Graveyard—then he would not even have a place to cry. Besides, Green had already made a fortune this time. There was no need to risk everything out of insatiable greed. As for this Yin Spirit Parasite that had become a pile of rotten flesh, he could leave it for the Anomalies Bureau to fret over.
Having made up his mind, Green ignored the pile of rotten flesh and instead fixed his gaze on the obelisk located in the center of the pyramid hall.
David Tru and the others had been gathered around this obelisk, conducting some sort of magical ritual. Unfortunately, Green had interrupted them, causing all their efforts to go down the drain. Yet Green could sense that the source of the enormous Psychic Energy fluctuations was this very obelisk.
Green walked over, hesitated slightly, then pressed his hand against the obelisk.
However, the Graveyard's anticipated prompt did not appear. The Graveyard had actually ignored this obelisk, which contained an enormous amount of Psychic Energy!
Green had not expected this at all. He withdrew his hand and tried again, but the result remained unchanged. His brows drew together as he sank into deep thought. He had never encountered such a situation before. Could it be that the Graveyard is selective about Psychic Energy? Or is there some other reason?
No matter how Green pondered it, he could not figure it out. If he had to explain it, he could only say that the Psychic Energy contained within the obelisk had some substance the Graveyard was unwilling to touch—like a cup of sweet, delicious drink that no one would drink again after a stinking lump of dog shit had been dropped into it.
