054 Nancy and Lily (3)

The one who fled was the younger sister, Lily, while the one who lunged at Green was the older sister, Nancy. Before being swallowed by the Xignos Giant Python, the sisters had been twins. After becoming Xignos Banshees, they died once more and became spirits, remaining inseparable ever since. Their bond was even closer than that of the other Xignos Banshees.

Seeing that there was no hope of escape, Nancy resolutely tried to buy her sister a little more time to flee.

Unfortunately, she had run into Green this time. Seeing Nancy pounce back at him, Green was already prepared. Maxim shot forward and met Nancy head-on.

Under these circumstances, Nancy could no longer resist the pull of Ghost Eye. Her figure suddenly flickered and was sucked into the pendant.

Meanwhile, Lily had already dashed seven or eight meters away before realizing that her sister had been captured. To everyone's surprise, she froze on the spot instead of continuing to flee!

Her figure suddenly flickered, and she moved with astonishing speed, rushing to the other side and causing the invisible pull released by the Ghost Eye in Green's raised hand to miss completely!

"That's incredible speed!" Green was startled. He hurriedly ordered Maxim and Holly to lead the Ghost squad in surrounding and attacking her, while also summoning a Ghoul and Skeleton Soldiers.

Although the Ghoul and Skeleton Soldiers were physical creatures, they were undead themselves and could touch Ghosts and inflict damage on them. Even if they could not truly threaten an Xignos Banshee, they could still restrain her somewhat, giving Maxim and Holly a chance to surround and intercept her.

Lily was furious. She also recognized Holly, her former sister, and let out a mournful whimper, as if questioning Holly about why she was helping an outsider attack her.

Holly did not hold back either. She told Lily about her own experience, then said that Green was her master and Nancy would soon become the same as her. This was something that could no longer be changed. She even urged Lily to give up resisting, saying that she could go to a paradise-like place where abundant undead energy allowed her to roam freely, never again having to fear being abused by the mad Blood Knight.

Indeed, Green's Graveyard was practically paradise for undead creatures.

Unfortunately, Lily did not yet know how wonderful this "paradise" was. Holly's persuasion only enraged her further. She let out a shrill screech and charged at Green once more.

"Are you throwing yourself into the net?" Green sneered. He urged Ghost Eye onward, magical power surging in his hand. In an instant, he pushed the magic item to its limit. The magic circles engraved within it began spinning madly. With a hum, magical light burst forth, and the invisible suction force became almost tangible as it once again enveloped Lily.

Lily's charge came to an abrupt halt. Her ghostlike constitution left her utterly restrained by Ghost Eye. Just then, Evil Spirit Maxim rushed over. A sharp claw tore through the air, flickered in an instant, and with a swish, its blade-like edge—almost solidified into physical form—cut into the spirit body of the Xignos Banshee.

Lily let out a shrill scream, even sharper and more anguished than before. Then, in a flash, she followed in Nancy's footsteps and was sucked into Ghost Eye!

"Rota!" At the final moment before being sucked into Ghost Eye, Lily called out the name of the eldest of the six Xignos Banshees, and the strongest aside from Talaga.

It was as if speaking of the devil had summoned him. Just as Green had captured Nancy and Lily in succession and was preparing to catch his breath, a white shadow abruptly appeared in front of him. Then came a baby-like shriek, and in a flash, it shot toward Green's face at astonishing speed.

Green was startled. Without a word, he hurriedly cast Bone Spikes. He had practiced this spell thousands of times and could now cast it instantly and silently. With a wave of his staff, a spike shot out and pierced straight through the incoming white figure.

The white figure let out a wail. Although an Xignos Banshee had no physical body, Green's Bone Spikes had been summoned from the Graveyard and contained its Psychic Energy. They could not kill a spirit, but they hurt terribly, forcing the Xignos Banshee named Rota back with a single strike.

Rota had originally been hiding to the side, preparing to ambush Green. When her attack failed and she was instead struck by excruciating pain, she shot toward the nearby stone wall. As long as she passed through it, she could block Green's pursuit. Who could have expected that just as she was about to enter the wall, a white shadow would burst out from the other side? The two white shadows slammed into each other head-on.

With a splat, the white shadow that had burst from the wall was instantly scattered. It was a Ghost that had happened to be there while attacking Nancy and Lily. Rota's collision had found its spirit body too weak, grievously injuring it and dispersing it outright. After returning to the Graveyard, it would need to expend considerable Psychic Energy to recover.

Although Rota's spirit body had not dispersed, the sudden Ghost had still slowed her escape. She was soon caught and tightly entangled by the pursuing Maxim and Holly.

Green also seized the opportunity and immediately cast Bone Spikes again. This time, it was not a hurried spell like before. He had made ample preparations and condensed sufficient magical power. A mass of spikes shot out with a string of "pfft, pfft" sounds. More than a dozen sharp spikes actually avoided Maxim and Holly, most of them striking the flustered and helpless Rota.

Rota screamed again and again. Suddenly, an incomparably shrill, high-frequency sound wave erupted from within her spirit body.

The sound wave shook the air, forming a faint ring of ripples. Maxim and Holly, bearing the brunt of it, were swept by the high-frequency sonic waves. Their spirit bodies instantly trembled, and both were injured at the same time! Green, farther away, realized something was wrong and tried to run, but it was already too late. His expression changed drastically. If that sonic vibration struck him, it would shatter his internal organs. At the critical moment, he hurriedly cast Summon Zombie. In an instant, three thick-skinned Iron-Skinned Zombies appeared in front of Green, blocking the path of the sonic waves.

The sound wave followed close behind. With a muffled thump, the foremost Iron-Skinned Zombie was struck by the high-frequency wave. Its hard, shriveled skin could withstand bullets, but not the vibration of the high-frequency sound. Like a balloon being crushed, it exploded outright! Foul black blood and rotting flesh splattered everywhere.

Green watched, involuntarily drawing in a sharp breath. Clearly, the high-frequency sonic waves Rota had unleashed in her desperate struggle dealt far more damage to physical bodies than to spirit bodies. By all rights, the Iron-Skinned Zombies' defense and vitality far exceeded those of Maxim and Holly, who were Evil Spirits. According to the game's rules, one side was a shield warrior and the other was a mage. Maxim and Holly should not merely have been injured while an Iron-Skinned Zombie, a thick-skinned, high-health tank, was instantly killed.
