Background / History

During the Beast Calamity, the Dragon Clan competed with the Phoenix and Qilin Clans for territory and fortune. Ao Jin claimed an immortal-island opportunity for the Dragon and Phoenix Clans, drove away independent cultivators, and attacked Li Yi when he arrived. Li Yi turned Ao Jin’s Treasure Seal back on him, killing him and the Black Tortoise elder who tried to shield him 3 4.

The Ancestral Dragon chose not to retaliate immediately. Unable to divine Li Yi’s origins, he ordered the clan to concentrate on the Fierce Beasts instead. When Li Yi killed Qiongqi, a beast king the Dragon Clan had planned to target, the Ancestral Dragon redirected his forces against another king, Chaos 4 6.

After the Beast Calamity, the Dragon Clan claimed the seas as the Three Clans divided territory. Their subsequent conflict brought ruinous bloodshed; the Ancestral Dragon swore to guard the Eye of the East Sea forever to atone for his clan’s slaughter 10 13.
