Base and Organization

• Stronghold — Soren High-Security Prison, outside Green Forest City’s eastern suburbs. Marauders seized its perimeter defenses and ammunition depot; its walls are reinforced with barbed wire and broken glass, and its watchtowers hold snipers and machine gunners 27 38.
• Habal — Nicknamed “Iron Hammer,” he serves as warden and the faction’s visible leader. He prefers fighting to planning and relies on Baku for strategy 38.
• Baku — The deputy warden plans operations and exerts psychological control over prisoners and marauders. After Habal leaves the prison yard, its members respond to Baku with reverence and obedience 38 68.
• Crown — The faction’s third-ranking figure and usual commander of Raider operations. He commanded its convoy during the Day 26 assault, under Baku’s orders to target Lawrence 134.
• Prisoners — Forced into gladiatorial fights or used as expendable attackers, including the Slave Suicide Squad. The faction also buys captives through refugee groups 25 38 173 184.
• Armaments — Its forces use mines, explosives, snipers, machine guns, armored vehicles and improvised weapons. Later operations include mortars, improvised “Hell Cannons,” main battle tanks and mechanically augmented fighters supplied by its backer 14 25 130 135 166 272.

History

Marauder Prison established a surveillance outpost at Phoenix Tree Apartments in East City District 13. The Black Shield Police Department raided and destroyed it, though supplies remained hidden in several rooms 2. After learning of the loss through an insider, Marauder Prison planned retaliation against a returning Black Shield patrol 14.

At Land Hotel in District 14, the faction ambushed the patrol with mines, grenades, Molotov cocktails, machine guns, snipers and armed vehicles. When Black Shield counterattacked, members of Marauder Prison’s Slave Suicide Squad detonated themselves among its vehicles and positions. The marauders withdrew after the battle 14 25 26.

Marauder Prison later arranged a transaction with Burning Fortress. An announced exchange of twenty slaves concealed the delivery of an organ donor compatible with Burning Fortress leader Black Lung Victor. In return for fuel, supplies, explosives and military assistance, Marauder Prison intended to help Burning Fortress capture an offshore oil field; Burning Fortress would help it take East District from Black Shield 36 40. Baku deliberately leaked transaction information as part of the trap for Black Shield 38.

The operation at Splow Park went wrong when Yu Yuan attacked the lightly guarded supplies, killed a Flame Priest and a Marauder Prison representative, and freed the donor 41 42. Burning Fortress interpreted the losses as a betrayal by Marauder Prison. Habal killed the operation’s warden, Tusi, while Baku decided to take a replacement donor to Victor and try to preserve the alliance 42 45. Baku delivered the backup donor, but Victor did not fully accept his explanation; Hualuo’s death continued to strain relations, particularly among Burning Fortress’s Flame Riders 68.

Marauder Prison and Burning Fortress subsequently attempted to assassinate Black Shield commander Lawrence with a mine and Slave Suicide Squad attack. Black Shield had learned of the plan and counter-ambushed them, leaving Lawrence alive 94 95 96 99. Baku then found evidence linking Black Shield to the Aurora Animal Assistance Society and negotiated a wider alliance with Victor and Iron Anchor Shipping Company. Under their agreement, Marauder Prison would take East City and assets left after their enemies’ defeat 115. On Day 26, Crown led its forces through the 10th Block toward the society’s position at Johnk Zoo. The battle drew in Black Shield, Burning Fortress and the society’s mutated creatures; Marauder Prison and Burning Fortress were stopped short of the zoo 130 134 135 136 140.

Afterward, Marauder Prison established armed outposts across several East District blocks, which Black Shield moved to clear 147 154. Baku prepared a trap for Carmen using decoy outpost locations and two Mechanical Augmenters supplied by the faction’s mysterious backer, but the attackers failed to find their intended target 165 166 169. The prison also bought survivors from refugee groups. Carmen’s team later interrupted one such exchange at Pine Mountain Park, killing the Raiders collecting the captives 173 184 185.

The backer was identified as the Mechanical Vanguard Society, a military order from Terra Continent. Its agents at the prison included Executive Blackfire and Mechanical Augmenters 219 222 272. During a later clash in North City, Black Shield defeated combined Marauder Prison and Burning Fortress forces. Shiva, a mechanically augmented combatant who had accompanied Raiders assisting Victor, was destroyed; twenty-one Marauder Prison members were reported killed. Blackfire blamed Baku and seriously injured Habal when he intervened 216 217 219 231. Further Vanguard reinforcements subsequently assembled at the prison for an attack on the Aurora Animal Assistance Society 272 279.

Baku later made progress deciphering the energy circulation system of Mechanical Augmenters, but lacked the resources to perform complete mechanical augmentation. He considered cooperating with the Aurora Animal Assistance Society to obtain what Marauder Prison needed 432. By then, he had captured Blackfire and subjected him to sustained psychological manipulation until the Executive served him and disclosed Vanguard intelligence. With survival supplies running low, Baku planned to use Blackfire and that intelligence to seek entry to the society 442.

Yu Yuan subsequently entered Marauder Prison and subdued marauders in its underground cells 442. The faction later surrendered and joined the All-Nations Covenant Civilization. Habal and Baku trained at its Hunter Training Camp, and Baku volunteered for the Pioneer Corps’ first expedition into Liberty Tower 488 490. During that expedition, Habal fought a Boss-Level Infected in mechanical armor made for him by Marsil’s team and earned Elite Recruit and Veteran status templates 488 490.

Relationships

• Black Shield Police Department — Longstanding enemy responsible for destroying the District 13 outpost; Marauder Prison subsequently ambushed its forces and planned to seize its East City stronghold. Black Shield thwarted its attempt on Lawrence, fought its Day 26 assault and later defeated its forces in North City 2 14 25 40 99 135 216.
• Burning Fortress — Ally in a donor-for-supplies exchange and plans for territorial expansion. The losses at Splow Park left Burning Fortress suspecting betrayal, but Baku delivered a replacement donor and the factions later fought together. Their forces suffered a joint defeat in North City 40 42 45 68 115 216.
• Iron Anchor Shipping Company — Joined Marauder Prison and Burning Fortress in an alliance against Black Shield and the Aurora Animal Assistance Society. Marauder Prison sought East City, while Iron Anchor pursued the society’s animal research 115 127.
• Aurora Animal Assistance Society — Became a target after Baku found evidence of its connection to Black Shield and its control of mutant creatures. The society resisted the allied assault with armed forces and mutated beasts. Later, Baku considered offering Vanguard intelligence and Blackfire to it in hopes of securing Marauder Prison’s survival 115 135 136 432 442.
• Mechanical Vanguard Society — Backed Marauder Prison with Mechanical Augmenters and Executives, including Blackfire. Its agents could threaten the prison’s leaders directly, but Baku eventually captured and psychologically subdued Blackfire 166 219 222 272 442.
• Yu Yuan — Scavenged the aftermath of the Land Hotel battle and later disrupted the Splow Park exchange. Baku initially suspected an internal informant and Black Shield involvement rather than identifying Yu Yuan as the attacker. Yu Yuan later infiltrated the prison; after the faction’s surrender, Habal and Baku served within his wider organization 26 41 42 45 442 488 490.
