Background and History

Li Qingyang grew up knowing Li Xun chiefly as a homebound scientist and musician. Before his Spirit Awakening, Tang San told him that Li Xun’s earlier life—including his violent campaign against nobles—had been kept from the public. Qingyang initially struggled to reconcile that account with the gentle father he knew, then sought out his aunt Li Yingxue to learn more 2 12 14.

Li Yingxue explained that Li Xun’s inventions had transformed the continent and made the Li Family wealthier than the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. She also introduced Qingyang to songs associated with his parents’ love, leaving him envious of their devotion. During his visit to Li Manor, his paternal grandparents, Li Hu and Shui Yuerou, affectionately urged him to stay, but he left to speak with his parents 14 16.

At home, Qingyang asked Qian Renxue about The Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul, which he had found in the library. Her account of Yu Xiaogang’s alleged plagiarism, flawed teaching, and treatment of Bibi Dong challenged his earlier respect for the book. Their conversations also revealed how his parents met and why Qian Renxue’s friends frequently visited the family 19 20 21 23.

His rivalry with Yu Tianlong began on the first day of school, when Tianlong boasted about his expected Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon awakening and asked Tang Wutong to become his girlfriend. Qingyang fought him, accepted a subsequent challenge to an official soul battle, and asked his mother about Heavenly Dragon Gate to better understand his opponent’s background 28.

His awakening drew attention across the continent. After Tang Wutong revealed twin Martial Souls and level-10 Innate Full Soul Power, Qingyang awakened twin Martial Souls of his own and level-20 innate Soul Power 43 44. He then reaffirmed a wager to duel Yu Tianlong, agreeing without mockery to use only his first Soul Skill in their match 45 46.

When Qingyang and Wutong needed spirit rings, they visited Qian Renxue at Spirit Hall because Li Xun was occupied with research and music, while Tang San and Xiao Wu were frequently traveling. Hu Liena escorted them to the Papal Office. Qian Renxue then took them home rather than to a Soul Beast forest, where Li Xun provided God-given Spirit Rings and supervised their absorption 58 59 61 64 65.

Concerned that he could not guarantee victory under the duel’s first-ring restriction, Qingyang asked his mother about Self-Created Soul Skills. He chose Li Xun’s Four Great Combat Techniques over the Qian family’s Holy Light Sword Art. Li Xun brought him into his Personal Demiplane, demonstrated the techniques, and used Life Gold to establish the spiritual foundation needed to study them. Qingyang learned the core unification method during three days of training and returned exhausted 76 77 78 79 80 81 82.

In a later future scene, Qingyang accompanied Li Xun, Qian Renxue, Li Mushuang, and Tang Wutong to the Sun Moon Empire aboard Spirit Hall’s private Soul Guidance Plane. He dreaded encountering Xu Changle because of her inventive pranks. At the airport, he tried to remain behind his family until Li Xun pulled him forward to greet her. Xu Changle promised to show him several things prepared in her palace, deepening his apprehension. The family subsequently entered Mingdu under her escort, and the children watched the technologically advanced city excitedly 155 159.

Appearance

Qingyang is blond and resembles Qian Renxue as a child. At his awakening, he stands straight and carries himself with unusual poise; a later future scene shows him as a tall youth 2 44 58.

Personality

Qingyang is curious and outspoken with his family: he presses for answers about Li Xun’s past, jokes about his father’s habits, and objects when Li Xun forgets a promise. He takes Tang San’s warning not to discuss his father publicly seriously 2 12 60.

He remains composed when his awakening eclipses his peers’ results and accepts Yu Tianlong’s proposed duel restriction without arrogance. Though he once said becoming a Limit Douluo would satisfy him, he later takes the initiative to ask Li Xun for demanding sword training 16 45 46 77.

His affection for Tang Wutong brings out both protectiveness and embarrassment. He fights Yu Tianlong over his advances toward her, but blushes and pretends to concentrate on dinner when she says she wants to stay with him forever 28 77.

His usual composure does not extend to Xu Changle’s pranks. Before visiting the Sun Moon Empire, he regards the impending encounter with exaggerated dread; at the airport, he shrinks behind his family and reluctantly greets her when prompted by his father 155 159.
