Power Progression

Background and History

Xiang Jun was born as a Spirit of the Ocean and drifted at sea until Poseidon found him. Poseidon reshaped him into a human infant, later gave him a Sea God Martial Soul formed from divine blood and a remnant of Sea God authority, and trained him as a potential successor 2 21. Xiang Jun also retains memories of a story he read before transmigrating, which lets him recognize some people and notice when events diverge from what he expected 6.

After acquiring his fourth soul ring, Xiang Jun saved Huo Yuhao from a Wind Baboon in Star Dou Forest. He saw a chance to win over the “child of destiny” while God King Tang was occupied in the Divine Realm 2 3. At Shrek Academy, Yan Shaozhe personally admitted him and assigned him Dormitory 108, where Huo Yuhao became his roommate 6 8.

Xiang Jun sought access to the Golden Ancient Tree to advance Poseidon’s succession plan. Following Ma Xiaotao’s uncontrolled attack at Sea God Lake, he negotiated permission to cultivate there three days a week 15 27. He subsequently met Elder Jin, the tree itself, who told him that his authority over the Sea God Godhood remained only partial 34.

Yan Shaozhe later investigated Xiang Jun’s background through the academy’s connections and private detectives, but found little beyond his movements during the preceding year. To the academy, he appeared to have no parents or prior factional allegiance 48. Following the Freshman Assessment, Xiang Jun was named a Core Disciple, though he subsequently declined Yan Shaozhe’s invitation to enter the Inner Court 56 58.

Poseidon also arranged a marriage between Xiang Jun and Gu Yuena in exchange for removing the Asura Divine Power from her wound. When Xiang Jun questioned whether she could be trusted, Poseidon explained that she had sworn on her Divine Soul not to betray him, with the Soul Beast Clan’s survival at stake 45. In a later meeting with Gu Yuena, Di Tian, and other soul beasts, Poseidon confirmed that Xiang Jun’s transformation had made him completely human, explaining why Gu Yuena had not detected his original nature 60.

After eight months passed following Tang Wutong’s departure, Xiang Jun left Shrek during the academy vacation and traveled to the Far North 64 65. There he met the Ice Empress, promised to resolve her heavenly tribulation problem within a year, and entered the Ice God Ruins with her 67 69. His journey brought him a million-year soul bone, level-fifty cultivation, four ten-thousand-year soul rings, and the Ice Empress as a companion 71 72 73 74.

Upon returning to Shrek, he received Tang Wutong’s vitality-rich gift and later sought Elder Jin’s assistance in obtaining his fifth soul ring 79 85. Elder Jin introduced him to the injured Thunderclap Infernal Prison Vine, whose divine bloodline shared an origin with the Thunder God Fragment. Absorbing its soul ring and right leg bone brought Xiang Jun to level fifty-five 85 86 87 88.

Appearance

Xiang Jun is tall for a twelve-year-old freshman, with a lean, muscular build developed through trident training. His face closely resembles Shrek Academy’s Sea God statue 3 9.

Personality

Xiang Jun is courteous in public but skeptical and calculating in private. He deliberately cultivates Huo Yuhao’s trust to keep God King Tang from influencing her, though he feels some guilt about the manipulation 3 6 15. He also gives her practical help, including a valuable pill and repeated cultivation treatments 15 20 30.

He pursues strength and divine succession for personal reasons, including a desire to confront God King Tang; Elder Jin’s expectation that he save Douluo Star does not match his private priorities 21 35. In combat, he can be severe, but he held back against Zhou Yi rather than seriously harming her during their initial confrontation 14. After Ma Xiaotao attacked him without warning, he was far less forgiving 27.

His generosity toward Huo Yuxi extends to buying clothes, providing cultivation resources, and supporting her decision to enter the Soul Guidance Department. He regards soul tools as technological progress capable of improving everyday life and dismisses the Tang Sect’s hidden weapons by comparison 38 40 50 58 64.

Xiang Jun is also willing to negotiate aggressively for benefits. When Yan Shaozhe offered a ten-thousand-year soul bone in exchange for treating his disciple’s evil fire, Xiang Jun claimed that using Sea God’s Light could damage his cultivation and demanded greater compensation 58.

His attitude toward revenge becomes more explicit after his return from the Far North: he regards repayment of grievances as necessary to cultivate without lingering resentment 77. At the same time, his plans to help soul beasts survive heavenly tribulations combine practical assistance with his own goals of strengthening himself and gathering faith 88.

Sea God Martial Soul and Domain

Xiang Jun’s Sea God Martial Soul has holy, lightning, water, ice, and wind attributes. Its connection to Poseidon and Xiang Jun’s ocean-born nature make it unusually pure 2 35.

• His innate Sea God Domain raises his attributes by 10%, lowers enemies’ attributes by 10%, and reduces the Soul Power cost of the Golden Thirteen Halberds by 80% 24.
• He can draw Soul Power from rivers and lakes to replenish himself, though less efficiently than from the sea 26.
• A Sea God apparition can emit Sea God’s Light; it extinguished Ma Xiaotao’s out-of-control evil fire 26 27.
• He can walk on the surface of Sea God Lake as though it were solid ground 24.
• He uses Sea God’s Light to conceal the Ice Empress’s soul beast aura while she accompanies him in the human world 75.
• In the ocean, he can continuously replenish his Soul Power, mitigating the high consumption of abilities such as Thundercloud Technique 87.

Soul Skills

• Seagod’s Descent — first soul skill: Initially raised strength, attack, defense, and speed by 50%; increased damage against sea spirit beasts and sea spirit masters by 50%; and temporarily granted flight 12. When his first ring became purple, its attribute and anti-sea-target bonuses rose to 100%, with a 50% increase in flight speed. By the end of the heavenly tribulation absorption, the skill provided a 200% all-around boost and a 150% increase in flight speed 73.
• Ocean Current Crossing — second soul skill: Swaps Xiang Jun’s position with a target’s. He used it to turn Ma Xiaotao’s pursuing attack back on her 26. Its source is a Great Sea King Flying Fish over two thousand years old, and it also allows teleportation within a certain range 55.
  • Water Tornado: A developed second form that creates a waterspout with strong suction and cutting water blades. Xiang Jun used it to restrain the Soul Sage assassin 40.
• Raging Sea Torrent — fourth soul skill: Forms four enormous, rapidly spinning water dragons from nearby water 26.
• Thundercloud Technique — fifth soul skill: Granted by the hundred-thousand-year Thunderclap Infernal Prison Vine soul ring. By expending all his Soul Power, Xiang Jun summons a thundercloud over a designated area that continuously strikes a locked target. The cloud cannot be dispelled and the lightning cannot be dodged; its maximum power can reach the level of a soul beast’s heavenly tribulation, depending on the Soul Power invested. Damage against soul beasts and evil spirits increases by 100%. Its exceptional strength results in the ring granting one soul skill rather than the usual two 87.

Golden Thirteen Halberds

Poseidon taught Xiang Jun the first three forms, which Xiang Jun had mastered by Chapter 21. He then imparted the fourth through sixth forms 21 22.

• Unfixed Storm: An immobilizing control technique that bypasses defenses. Without the full Sea God divine position, Xiang Jun can hold a target for five seconds, but its Soul Power cost initially limited him to roughly two uses per battle 14 22. Its control cannot be dispelled once it hits, but the attack itself can be prevented from connecting: Gu Yuena used Silver Dragon Lock to seal the surrounding space and stop its golden light before it reached her 55.
• Thousand-Year Vastness: A barrage Xiang Jun used to knock Ma Xiaotao into Sea God Lake 24.
• Whale Fall Guard: A powerful defensive form capable of blocking even a divine attack, at enormous Soul Power cost 22 24. It channels ocean power through the trident to negate a single attack and manifested as a protective whale phantom when Xiang Jun blocked the Soul Sage assassin’s lightning 24 40.
• Hundred Rivers Return to the Void and Silent Vast Sea: Forms taught to him by Poseidon; each successive form is harder to master 22.

Ultimate Thunder

After absorbing a fragment of the fallen Thunder God’s divine position, Xiang Jun gained Ultimate Thunder within his Sea God Martial Soul, with Seagod’s Trident serving as its vessel. The fragment did not raise his Soul Power, and he could not initially withstand the thunder’s full force 35 36.

• Ten Thousand Thunder Prison Attraction: Releases powerful blue-violet lightning across the surrounding arena. Xiang Jun used it to immediately defeat Huang Chutian during the Freshman Assessment 48.
• Thunder God’s Wrath: Uses the Thunder God Fragment to summon a massive lightning strike. It inflicted a severe shock on Gu Yuena during their assessment battle 55.
• Tribulation lightning absorption: The Thunder God Fragment can absorb heavenly lightning through Seagod’s Trident and return purified energy to Xiang Jun’s martial soul. This raises his soul rings’ ages and strengthens his physique 73 88.
• After absorbing the Thunderclap Infernal Prison Vine’s ring and soul bone, he also gains the ability to draw lightning toward himself. Ordinary lightning is insufficient for the large improvements he seeks 88.

Ultimate Ice and Million-Year Soul Bone

Absorbing the million-year soul bone obtained during his Far North journey increased Xiang Jun’s physical strength more than threefold. His ice attribute, previously the smallest component of his martial soul, became an ultimate attribute slightly stronger than his lightning at that time and faintly approached the laws of ice 71 72.

• Ice Crystal Illusion Wings: Wings he uses for flight after the Far North expedition 73 85.
• He can freeze blood and physical remains into small ice fragments, which he used to remove the traces of Zhou Yi’s death 78.
• Tang Wutong’s vitality-rich water completed the million-year soul bone’s fusion and further strengthened his body to the level of a humanoid Ferocious Beast, though it remained below a Giant Dragon’s physique 79 80.

Lightning Elementalization

The hundred-thousand-year Thunderclap Infernal Prison Vine right leg bone grants Lightning Elementalization, providing intangibility, increased speed, and immunity to physical attacks and energy attacks to a certain extent 88.

Close-Quarters Combat

• Xiang Jun has extensive practical combat experience, including fighting through the ocean before relying on Seagod’s Trident 47.
• In a sparring match where Tang Wutong prohibited his trident and Golden Thirteen Halberds, he manifested enormous gauntlets marked with the character for “Virtue” and overwhelmed Tang Wutong, Huo Yuxi, and Xiao Xiao with punches and rapid elbow strikes 47.
• His practical combat experience exceeded Gu Yuena’s during their Freshman Assessment battle, allowing him to exploit openings in her spear attacks 55 56.

Meridian Treatment

• Xiang Jun can use gentle Sea God Soul Power to nourish clogged meridians and temporarily improve a poorly talented soul master’s cultivation speed 20.
• The treatment’s benefit lasts about a week and relies on an external source rather than permanently changing the recipient’s talent 20 21.
• For Huo Yuxi, its initial effect was roughly equivalent to raising her Innate Soul Power by half a level 20.
