Clan Leader in the Far North

The Ice Empress’s protection allows the small Ice Jade Scorpion Clan to move through the Far North without fear of other soul beasts. Before meeting Xiang Jun, she has already visited the apparent Ice God Ruins, where a restriction seals soul beasts’ cultivation. Her earlier descent into the ruins involved falling down the cliff 66 69.

Recruitment by Xiang Jun

Xiang Jun captures a young Ice Jade Scorpion and makes it call for help to draw her out. She arrives demanding its release, but refrains from attacking while the youngster remains captive. Even after Xiang Jun frees it, her instincts warn that attacking him would lead to her death 67.

Xiang Jun offers to help her survive her tribulation and eventually attain eternal life. Poseidon’s divine presence makes the offer credible, although the Seagod’s Trident also makes it clear that she cannot freely refuse. She subsequently takes human form and accompanies Xiang Jun 67 68.

She questions his claim to inherit the Sea God’s seat because she remembers a different person ascending ten thousand years earlier. Despite suspecting that she has been deceived, she accepts his promise to resolve her tribulation problem within a year in exchange for serving as his muscle 69.

Ice God Ruins

The Ice Empress guides Xiang Jun to the ruins but hesitates to enter because of their power-sealing restriction. He carries her down the cliff, where her cultivation is immediately suppressed. During the descent, she detects his heaven-and-earth-born aura and learns that he is a spirit of the ocean rather than a human. This discovery strengthens her trust in his promise of godhood 69.

Poseidon uncovers the hidden chamber beyond the visible ruins. Inside, the Ice Empress covets the abundant ten-thousand-year profound ice marrow, while the Ice God’s threatening voice causes her bloodline to tremble. After Poseidon destroys the statue, he gives her eight stalks of marrow and supervises her refinement 70 71.

Tribulation and Departure

The marrow triggers her impending breakthrough. Initially frightened by the tribulation, she regains confidence and returns to scorpion form to endure it. As the strikes intensify, her back carapace is badly wounded. Xiang Jun intercepts the lightning and consumes the storm through the Thunder God Fragment, while she returns to human form and treats her injuries 72 73.

Before leaving the Far North, Xiang Jun conceals her soul beast aura with Sea God’s Light. She briefly returns to settle clan matters, insisting that he wait for her. They then travel to Shrek City, with the palm-sized Ice Empress perched on his head 74.

The Ice Empress is fiercely protective of her clan but capable of restraint. She answers a youngster’s distress call immediately, yet avoids a reckless attack when it might endanger her clansman or herself 66 67.

Proud and easily provoked, she insists that she is brave when Xiang Jun challenges her reluctance to enter the ruins. Her boastfulness contrasts with her fear when stripped of cultivation or confronted with divine pressure 69 70.

Eternal life is her strongest motivation. It persuades her to tolerate doubts about Xiang Jun’s promises, and the prospect of losing that future terrifies her during the tribulation. Her attitude toward him becomes warmer after discovering his soul beast identity and receiving his protection 67 69 70 73.
