Background

Tang Wutong is the daughter of Tang San and Xiao Wu. Raised in the Divine Realm, she arrives at Shrek Academy at age twelve as a Level 37 Soul Elder. Her Light Goddess Butterfly Martial Soul has yellow, purple, and purple Spirit Rings, giving her an unusually advanced thousand-year second ring 4 9 11 19.

At registration, Wutong mistakes Xiang Jun—whose appearance, trident mark, and Sea God Martial Soul remind her of her father—for someone Tang San sent to look after her. Their matching forehead marks flare when they meet, but Xiang Jun ignores her attempts to command his attention. Seeing him wield the Seagod’s Trident later leads her to suspect he may instead be her father’s chosen successor 5 12.

Appearance

Wutong is a petite girl with pink-and-blue hair and eyes. A trident mark appears on her forehead, and her Light Goddess Butterfly manifests as large wings 5 10 12.

Personality

Wutong is proud, quick-tempered, and accustomed to being indulged. She calls herself a princess and reacts sharply when ignored or mocked. She is also willing to challenge authority: when Zhou Yi orders the entire class to run a hundred laps despite no wrongdoing, Wutong objects openly 5 11.

In combat, her confidence can turn ruthless. She seriously injures Zhou Yi after Xiang Jun immobilizes the teacher, then leaves Dai Huabin with extensive injuries in a later duel. Around Xiang Jun, her aloof manner gives way to teasing, embarrassment, jealousy, and increasingly open affection 14 19 20 22 30.

Light Goddess Butterfly

Wutong’s Light Goddess Butterfly Martial Soul grants her wings and aerial mobility. At Level 37, her three Spirit Rings are yellow, purple, and purple 12 18.

• Wing Guillotine: Her first soul skill forms sharp golden blades along her wings. She uses them to break Dai Huabin’s protective shield and slash his back 19.
• Butterfly God Slash: Her third soul skill launches dozens of light blades. Zhou Yi’s Holy Shield Flame Dragon blocks the attack 13.

Clear Sky Hammer

Wutong also wields the Clear Sky Hammer. Even without a Spirit Ring, it weighs several hundred pounds; she uses it to break Zhou Yi’s ribs after Xiang Jun’s Unfixed Storm leaves the teacher unable to defend herself 14.

Explosive Eight-Stage Throw

Wutong summons a pink phantom resembling Xiao Wu. Its scorpion braid catches Dai Huabin by the neck before Wutong repeatedly slams him into the ground. Han Ruoruo’s attempt to stop the attack is blocked by an unseen force; its source is not identified 19 20.

Relationships

• Tang San — Her father, whom she calls “Dad.” Wutong initially believes he sent Xiang Jun to protect her and later suspects Xiang Jun may inherit his divine position 5 12.
• Xiao Wu — Her mother; Xiang Jun recognizes her likeness in the phantom Wutong summons against Dai Huabin 19 21.
• Xiang Jun — A classmate whose Sea God powers first provoke suspicion, then growing attraction. Wutong pursues his attention, though his indifference and closeness with Huo Yuhao repeatedly upset her 5 14 21 22 30.
• Huo Yuhao — A fellow student Wutong views as a rival for Xiang Jun’s attention. She warns Xiang Jun away from “strange people” while looking pointedly at Yuhao 23.
• Gu Yuena — Wutong’s roommate and classroom rival. Their repeated clashes become a concern for Han Ruoruo, and Wutong avoids their shared room 34 36 37.
• Han Ruoruo — Her replacement homeroom teacher, who appoints her vice president of Freshman Class One and later tries to halt her severe beating of Dai Huabin 18 20.
• Dai Huabin — Challenges her appointment as vice president and loses decisively. His resentment later leads him to hire someone to assassinate her 19 20 39.

Story Role

• Conflict with Zhou Yi: Wutong leads the class’s objection to collective punishment. After Zhou Yi declares her expelled, the dispute becomes an arena match in which Wutong and Xiang Jun defeat the teacher 11 12 14.
• Class leadership duel: Appointed vice president by Han Ruoruo, Wutong accepts Dai Huabin’s challenge and defeats him with the Explosive Eight-Stage Throw 18 19 20.
• Growing attachment to Xiang Jun: Wutong tries to win him over after misunderstanding his private cultivation treatment of Huo Yuhao. She begins visiting Dormitory 108 and grows increasingly jealous of his other close relationships 21 22 23 30 37.
• Threat from Dai Huabin: Zhu Lu warns Xiang Jun about danger to Wutong and asks him to persuade her to spare Dai. She later reveals that Dai has hired an assassin 38 39.
