Background and History

Wu Lie encounters six-year-old Jiang Yu in Heaven Dou City shortly after the boy kills three beggars who had attacked him. He identifies Jiang Yu’s Innate Full Soul Power and two dragon-aura dagger martial souls, destroys the bodies to protect him from investigation, and brings him to Sect Master Ning Yunxiu 2 3.

Three months later, Wu Lie takes Jiang Yu to Star Dou Great Forest for his first Spirit Ring. He subdues a rare Dawnlight Dragon so Jiang Yu can claim its ring. When that ring leaves Jiang Yu unable to continue cultivating, Wu Lie helps him seek a second ring for his Shadow Dragon Dagger, defeating a mutant Man Faced Demon Spider for him 8 9 10 11.

Wu Lie later confronts pursuers after the sect buys the Heart of Space. When a member of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan insults the sect, Wu Lie attacks; Ning Yunxiu’s support enables him to break through clan leader Yu Longwu’s Thunder Dragon Claw 17 18. He also accompanies Jiang Yu, Ning Tian, and Wu Feng to Star Dou Great Forest before their departure for Shrek Academy, leaving the three to hunt Ning Tian’s Spirit Ring together 21.

Personality

Blunt and hot-tempered, Wu Lie does not tolerate insults toward his sect 18. With Jiang Yu, he is protective and patient: he teaches the boy about dangers in the forest, reassures him when his cultivation stalls, and readily helps him find another ring 8 10. He also speaks familiarly with Ning Yunxiu, though his teasing sometimes goes further than he intends 6.

Red Dragon Martial Soul

• Wu Lie’s martial soul carries fire-dragon blood; he can exert draconic pressure strong enough to drive off hundred-year Gale Demon Wolves 8 9.
• He has nine Spirit Rings: two yellow, two purple, and five black 11.
• His Red Dragon Claw produces a flame-wreathed attack. With Ning Yunxiu’s support, it overpowers Yu Longwu’s Thunder Dragon Claw, though Yu Longwu blocks the follow-up strike 18.

• He identifies a Dawnlight Dragon as an exceptionally rare match for Jiang Yu’s Light Dragon Dagger and subdues it 9.
