Mechanics

• A soul master can accumulate Soul Power through meditation while awaiting a ring, but cannot advance in level until the ring is obtained. Jiang Yu’s stored power contributed to his three-level rise after his first absorption 8 9.
• A suitable ring must match the martial soul’s attributes. Jiang Yu sought a light-attribute beast for the Light Dragon Dagger and a space-attribute beast for the Shadow Dragon Dagger 8 9 11.
• Absorption places demands on the body. Jiang Yu spent three months improving his physique before taking his first ring, then accepted the greater risk of a roughly 1,500-year-old ring for his other dagger 5 8 11.
• For Ning Tian’s Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, ring quality does not change the fixed increase provided by an enhancement skill; a higher-quality ring instead reduces the Soul Power required to use it 21.

• Ning Tian declines a Scale-Armored Beast ring that would provide a defense enhancement: Jiang Yu and Wu Feng already have defensive Soul Tools, so she judges a Soul Power or attack enhancement more useful to their team 21.
• Ning Tian later absorbs a Demon Lizard Dragon’s ring. Soul Power stored during nearly five months of preparation surges afterward, bringing her to rank 34 21 22 23.
