Background

Ning Yunxiu became Sect Master despite opposition, purged her rivals, and brought order to the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect after a long decline. She later lost her son, Ning Yao, and then her husband. Ning Tian is her surviving daughter 6 18.

Wu Lie brought six-year-old Jiang Yu to her after finding him injured and homeless. Ning Yunxiu first arranged food, bathing, and treatment, then offered him a home and core-disciple status. His resemblance to Ning Yao deepened her attachment, though she told Wu Lie she intended to be someone Jiang Yu could rely on—not a replacement for her son 3 4 6.

She took charge of Jiang Yu’s training, delaying his first soul ring for three months so his weakened body could withstand a stronger one. After he reached Soul Grandmaster at seven and a half, she asked him to become her godson, formalizing their bond 5 13.
