What if I used divine power to create a miracle? Su He thought of a second approach.
Miracles were the mark of a god. If he created one that shook the entire Douluo Continent, letting every living being witness his power and feel his majesty, many would surely come to worship him.
Creating a miracle was no challenge for him. Though his current divine power was insufficient for anything on a vast scale, he could still produce sights beyond the abilities of a Titled Douluo.
But this approach would not work either.
Douluo Continent was already a world of extraordinary powers. It had Titled Douluo, Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts, and all manner of formidable martial souls and Soul Skills. Its inhabitants were long accustomed to such things.
Soul Douluo and Titled Douluo would know the miracle before them was beyond any human's power, but low-level soul masters and ordinary people lacked that perspective. They might even assume it was the work of a reclusive Titled Douluo or a powerful soul beast. It would never occur to them that a god was involved.
More importantly, this method would also arouse the suspicion and hostility of Spirit Hall and Sea God Island.
Both approaches were too direct, too beneath his standing.
That would hinder the growth of his following.
Su He frowned and gazed up at the stars, deep in thought.
The stars above the Divine Kingdom were not true stars. Each was a seal holding countless powerful beings.
As he watched them, an idea flashed through Su He's mind. His eyes lit up.
That's it. I can do this!
Fear was the best catalyst. Only when the beings of Douluo Continent felt threatened with utter destruction would they desperately seek salvation and worship him with true devotion.
Under his plan, he would not reveal any intention of competing with the Angel God and the Sea God for worship in the near future. That would keep the two great powers from turning hostile at once, while elevating his standing without limit.
Su He's plan was to use his remaining divine power to create a Sky Curtain spanning the globe above Douluo Continent. Through it, he would present a fabricated history and reveal the World-Destroying Demon Gods that might emerge there.
The Sky Curtain would tell every living being on Douluo Continent that a terrifying demon god was about to return. It possessed the power to destroy heaven and earth. Once its seal broke, the entire continent would be destroyed, and humans and soul beasts alike would perish.
Then he would release one of the "demon gods" sealed within the ruins of his Divine Kingdom into some corner of Douluo Continent. When the time was right, he would break its seal according to his needs.
When that "demon god" ran rampant across the continent and every faction proved helpless against it, he would send down an "apostle" or grant a native of Douluo Continent enough power to face it and destroy or seal it.
And he would broadcast the entire spectacle live.
By then, he would be the savior of every living being on Douluo Continent, the god who had saved their world. Countless beings would bow before him and worship him devoutly.
Even if Spirit Hall and Sea God Island resented it, they would be powerless to stop that worship.
Once he had absorbed that power of faith and recovered some of his strength, he could take his next step.
Even the arrival of the five God Kings of the Douluo Divine Realm would pose no threat to him then.
After all, in his eyes, the gods of Douluo were not gods at all. They lacked even the most basic divine ability: "Whatever a god wills becomes reality!"
Ultimately, they were merely stronger soul masters.
At that thought, Su He smiled.
As the Light God, he commanded light. Creating a Sky Curtain would be effortless for him.
He needed only to draw on his remaining divine power, control how light traveled and took shape, and adjust its refraction, scattering, and convergence. Then he could form an enormous Sky Curtain above Douluo Continent, one visible across the globe, and show every living being precisely the images he chose.
This method consumed very little divine power. Even in his current state, he could sustain the Sky Curtain and still have power left over.
After all, no one could surpass the Light God when it came to controlling light.
Next, he had to decide what the Sky Curtain would show.
First, it had to reveal World-Destroying Demon Gods that might appear on Douluo Continent. They needed to be frightening enough to make every living being believe their return would mean the end of the world.
Second, the stories behind these World-Destroying Demon Gods had to make sense. People had to believe they truly could exist on Douluo Continent, sealed away and undiscovered until now.
There was one other point to consider. It mattered, though perhaps not quite as much.
The story had to be compelling.
Su He closed his eyes and began planning what the Sky Curtain would show.
A moment later, his plan complete, Su He took a deep breath.
He hesitated no longer. Drawing on every last trace of divine power within him, he focused his mind and began shaping the light into the Sky Curtain.
Above the ruins of the Divine Kingdom, a faint golden glow flowed from his body. It gathered into a slender beam that slowly entered the black vortex in the sky, pierced the barrier between worlds, and reached Douluo Star.
On Douluo Continent, it was a peaceful afternoon.
Common folk worked diligently, while soul masters trained and sparred in small groups; in the palace of the Star Luo Empire, members of the royal family discussed affairs of state as the soul master army drilled; in the Papal Palace of Spirit City, Bibi Dong sat upon the papal throne, handling Spirit Hall's business; in the Star Dou Great Forest, soul beasts foraged at their leisure while Di Tian and other powerful soul beasts cultivated beneath Life Lake; at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Fengzhi reviewed reports sent by the Seven Treasure Trading Company...
Just then, a faint golden halo spread across the once-clear sky. From the north of the Heaven Dou Empire to the south of the Star Luo Empire, from the depths of the Star Dou Great Forest to the skies above Sea God Island, from the deep sea to the Far North and even the other continents, every inhabitant of Douluo Star who looked up could see the vast curtain of light blotting out the sky.
"Look! What's that in the sky?"
Countless common folk and low-level soul masters raised their heads, their faces filled with fear or confusion.
The golden glow overhead grew steadily brighter and drew together into an immense Sky Curtain covering all of Douluo Star. No matter where one stood, it was plainly visible.
The Sky Curtain hung thousands of kilometers above the ground. It bore no images or words, only a blank expanse, and gave off no trace of energy.
Yet it exerted an unseen pressure, as though a supreme being were looking down through it upon every living being on Douluo Continent.
