Talent Copying

A Copy Card transfers a target’s talent to the card user. The system recognizes both innate traits and rare abilities acquired through training, including specialized fighting styles and Devil Fruit powers 1 3.

• The card must make physical contact with the target to activate 5 6.
• A successful copy consumes the card; the card melts away after activation 3 6.
• If a target has multiple talents of the card’s quality, the system can prompt the user to select one 6.
• Copying a talent does not copy the original holder’s training, mastery, or accumulated progress 6 34.
• A full talent roster requires the user to replace an existing talent before adding another 1 37.

Quality Matching

The original cards are quality-specific:

• White — lowest quality
• Blue
• Purple
• Red
• Gold — highest standard quality 1

Talent quality measures the areas and special effects a talent enhances, but does not necessarily determine the holder’s immediate fighting strength 37.

Universal Talent Copy Cards

Universal Talent Copy Cards replace the original quality-bound system after the Chapter 28 upgrade. They can copy talents of any quality, allowing one card to acquire abilities that would previously have required different colored cards 28.

Devil Fruit Copying

Devil Fruit powers are classified as talents and can be copied. The copied ability normally has reduced training speed and lower maximum potential while the original holder remains alive. The copied talent becomes complete after the original holder dies 20.

• Noil copied Kenbula’s Bear-Bear power and later acquired its full potential after killing him 6 20.
• Noil copied Ace’s Flame-Flame power while Ace remained alive, but accepted that the copy would develop more slowly rather than harm Ace 20.
• Noil copied Crocodile’s Sand-Sand power but initially lacked Crocodile’s mastery of it 32 34.

Talent Storage and Fusion

The Chapter 28 upgrade adds a catalog for replaced talents. Stored talents can be retrieved, although each retrieval has a three-month cooldown 28.

Fusion is a related system function rather than a separate card type:

• Only talents of the same quality can be fused.
• Each talent can be fused once.
• A fused talent cannot be replaced and becomes permanent.
• Two gold talents can mutate into the exclusive ink-gold quality 28 41.

Appearance

A Copy Card appears as a physical card when retrieved from the system. Its color corresponds to its quality, and it disappears after successfully copying a talent 3 6.

• Colored according to quality: white, blue, purple, red, or gold 1.
• Can be held, hidden, or placed directly against a target 3 5.
• Universal cards are not restricted to a single talent quality 28.
