Background and History

Luofan’s grandfather was a level 88 Soul Douluo who served the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect; his grandmother was a direct descendant of the sect. After his grandfather’s death, six-year-old Luofan awakened a defective Martial Soul with no innate Soul Power. Sect Master Ning Fengzhi offered him menial work and asked him to keep his distance from Ning Rongrong. Luofan left rather than accept that position 1 5.

Soon afterward, the Three-Choice Golden Entry System bound itself to him. His first choice, Peerless Prodigy, transformed both his prospects and his Martial Soul. He declined to return to the sect and instead accepted shelter from Xue Qinghe, the Heaven Dou crown prince, whom Luofan identified as Qian Renxue in disguise. Xue Qinghe helped him obtain his first Soul Ring and gave him a home and private instruction 1 2 3 4.

Luofan later proposed the Heaven Dou Daily to counter rumors damaging Xue Qinghe’s reputation. The paper grew through inexpensive sales, serialized fiction—including Luofan’s Dream of the Red Chamber—and advertising. In thanks, Xue Qinghe gave him a rare Head Soul Bone 7 8 9 16.

During his second Soul Ring expedition, Luofan reunited with Rongrong amid a Spirit Hall attack on her sect. He used Shield to save her from a stray attack by Sword Douluo Chen Xin. She subsequently believed Spirit Hall had captured him, though Snake Lance Douluo brought him safely back to Heaven Dou City 11 12 13 14.

Appearance

Luofan is a child of six at the start of the story and is still described as six or seven when he obtains his second ring 1 13.

• His original Clay Pagoda Martial Soul was a cracked, three-tiered tower resembling a failed pottery piece 2.
• His evolved Golden Exquisite Pagoda has nine tiers, shines gold, and bears a lotus design at its base 2.

Personality

Luofan prizes independence and reciprocates kindness. He refuses to return to the sect after its rejection, but remains warm toward Rongrong and risks himself to protect her. Xue Qinghe’s sustained support earns his gratitude and loyalty 2 9 11 12.

He is ambitious and deliberate about long-term gains: he chooses growing Soul Rings over instant level 99 power, seeks rings with suitable attributes rather than simply the greatest age, and trains beyond his tutor’s recommended hours. He also keeps the system itself secret, even while allowing Xue Qinghe to observe its effects 4 5 6 10.

Abilities and Skills

Three-Choice Golden Entry System

The system grants Luofan a choice of one of three Golden Entries after Martial Soul Awakening and after each new Soul Ring 1.

• Peerless Prodigy: Gives him exceptional talent; its selection evolved his Martial Soul and granted innate full Soul Power 2.
• Soul Ring Growth: Increases the age of each of his Soul Rings by one year per hour. Luofan observes that the growth also feeds a gradual increase in his Soul Power 4 5 9 11.
• Rule Addition: Adds a matching rule-based effect to his Soul Skills. Luofan later discovers that it also affects a skill granted by his Head Soul Bone 10 11 24.
• Immortal Body: Prevents his death, but does not prevent pain. He uses it to survive the poisonous miasma around the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 21 23 24.

Suppression

His first Soul Skill enlarges the pagoda and brings it down as a blunt-force attack, then forcibly suppresses its target 3.

• Targets below Luofan’s level can be suppressed for ten seconds; the duration decreases by half a second for each level a stronger target has over him 3.
• Rule Addition causes half the pagoda attack’s damage to ignore defense 11.

Shield

His second Soul Skill forms a pagoda-shaped barrier around himself or another target 10 11.

• Its added rule completely nullifies the first attack to hit the shield; a weak opening blow can therefore waste that protection 11.
• Luofan uses it to stop a stray sword from level 96 Titled Douluo Chen Xin before it reaches Rongrong, and later to protect Porcupinefish Douluo from a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear 13 20.

Overpowering Aura

His third Soul Skill applies fixed damage effects to designated allies and enemies within an area, regardless of their levels 20 22.

• Designated allies deal double damage; designated enemies deal half damage 20.
• The aura lasts 180 seconds. Its radius exceeds thirty meters and can expand as Luofan’s Soul Power rises 20 22.

Wisdom Skull Skill

After Luofan enhances his Head Soul Bone, he can project his consciousness outside his body and seize control of another person 24.

• Possession lasts 30 seconds against an equal-level target, changing by one second for each level of difference 24.
• His own body is left exposed while his consciousness is away 24.
