| Dual Godhood bearer; peak Third-Class Deity strength before entering the Divine Realm | 22 31 35 | Inherited the Sea God and Asura God positions. | God King; recently appointed God King of Law Enforcement | 18 19 | Holds both Godhoods and a seat among the Five Great God Kings. His cultivated Sea God power exceeds that of ordinary First-Level Gods, while his Asura Godhood provides superior offensive power. He remains weaker than the veteran God of Destruction. |
Background / History
Tang San originated from the Clear Sky Sect and belonged to the original Shrek Seven Devils. Ten thousand years before the current events, he inherited the Sea God and Asura God positions and brought about Spirit Hall's downfall. He states that, before ascending to the Divine Realm, he shattered the Angel God and Rakshasa God Godhoods and destroyed their divine artifacts 18 22 27 33.
Feng Xuanyuan also attributes Slaughter City's destruction to Tang San, describing it as a selfish act that released Evil Soul Masters into the world. Shrek Academy subsequently became a major part of Tang San's legacy and his intended base for cultivating future gods 18 22.
When Tang San ascended, he brought Tang Hao and Ah Yin into the Divine Realm, where they gained Divine Official strength and eternal life. He later concealed their return to the Douluo Continent by telling his companions that he had arranged a quiet retirement for them 33.
Ten-Thousand-Year Plan
Tang San's long-term objective was to turn the Douluo Plane into Tang Family property, expand into other planes, and use their faith to strengthen himself enough to defeat the God of Destruction's faction 26.
| Arrangement | Intended purpose |
|---|---|
| Split Tang Wutong's soul into three portions | Use his daughter as bait to bring the plane's chosen child, Huo Yuhao, under his control 19 26 27 39. |
| Control Wang Dong through implanted divine consciousness | Eventually erase Wang Dong's separate personality, treating her as a disposable fragment rather than the intended Tang Wutong 39 44. |
| Replace the plane's will with Tang Hao | Eliminate the original will after gaining control of the chosen child and install his father as Plane Master 26. |
| Make Ah Yin the plane's life source | Allow her to drain the plane's life energy and turn Shrek Academy into a cultivation sanctuary 26. |
| Return Da Ming and Er Ming to the lower realm | Employ them as guardians and enforcers responsible for his daughter's fragments 24. |
| Cultivate gods from Shrek Academy | Persuade existing gods to pass their Godhoods to members of his faction, increasing his influence in the Divine Realm 18. |
| Hold Huo Yun'er's soul in the Divine Realm | Remove Huo Yuhao's mother's soul from the lower realm despite restrictions on divine interference 18 27. |
Personality
Tang San is intensely concerned with rank and public respect. Although he hosts his former companions as friends, he reacts coldly when Dai Mubai calls him “Little San,” considering the familiar address an affront from a Second-Level God. The narration also emphasizes his vindictiveness toward people who gossip about him 18 19.
He combines political persuasion with coercion. He courts neutral gods through favors, considers overlooking unauthorized transfers of mortals into the Divine Realm, and promises his companions future God King power to secure their cooperation. When exposed, he searches for excuses or redirects attention toward other threats rather than acknowledging his violations 18 27 31 33 45.
His concern for his parents repeatedly drives him into panic, but that attachment does not extend equally to every family member: Wang Dong is expendable within his plans. He also dismisses Soul Tools as frivolous contraptions, resenting their displacement of Tang Sect Hidden Weapons even after witnessing their ability to destroy a divine artifact 26 31 39.
Abilities & Skills
Sea God Godhood
Tang San ordinarily relies on his Sea God power, which he has cultivated beyond the level of ordinary First-Level Gods 19.
- Uses the Sea God Trident to perform divine techniques 18.
- Can execute the Golden Thirteen Halberds, originally created by Poseidon 19 45.
- Can place divine consciousness inside the trident so that it automatically releases God King-level techniques in an emergency 45.
Unfixed Wind Waves
A Golden Thirteen Halberds technique renowned as the Divine Realm's supreme control skill. Poseidon used it as a First-Level God to immobilize a God King-level opponent for three seconds 19.
- Tang San's full-power version is described as capable of enveloping the entire Douluo Plane 19.
- Its restraint is stated to take effect upon hitting a target, even when cast through a strand of divine consciousness 44.
- His attempt to use it from the Divine Realm is extinguished at Douluo Star's boundary 18.
- A later divine-consciousness cast appears to restrain Feng Xuanyuan for less than a second. Feng deliberately permits the rescue that follows, rather than being meaningfully overcome by the technique 43 44.
Asura Godhood and Law of Slaughter
The Asura Godhood is associated with the Divine Realm's greatest combat power and embodies the Law of Slaughter. Tang San can apply that law only superficially; inheriting the Godhood has not given him complete mastery 19 43.
- Activation produces blood-red light, intense killing intent, and a nine-ring halo 19.
- Wields the Asura Demon Sword to release enormous arcs of sword energy 19.
- Can recall a sword strike before it destroys its target, allowing him to threaten the Douluo Plane without immediately cleaving it apart 19.
- Repeated sword attacks fail to penetrate the seal protecting the plane 35.
Divine Sense and Remote Manifestation
Tang San uses divine consciousness both to investigate distant locations and to maintain hidden safeguards 18 43 45.
- Sends divine sense toward Douluo Star, though the seal extinguishes his initial probe 18.
- Conceals a strand inside Wang Dong that can manifest his image and an illusory Sea God Trident 43.
- That manifestation casts Unfixed Wind Waves and opens a spatial rift to evacuate Tang Hao and Ah Yin 43.
- The rescue exhausts the strand completely, removing his existing control over Wang Dong and making his planned erasure of her personality all but impossible 44.
Defensive Arrangements
- Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well defenses — Tang San surrounds the site with extensive protections. Its accumulated seven-colored poison miasma can keep out even a Limit Douluo; an ultimate martial soul can resist the outer miasma, but further defenses still obstruct entry into the valley 53.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Sea God Trident — A Super Divine Artifact used for the Golden Thirteen Halberds. Before ascending, Tang San threw it with Gone Forever; Bibi Dong could put it away but could not destroy it. He later equips it with divine consciousness for his companions' lower-realm mission 18 31 45.
- Asura Demon Sword — The Asura God's blood-red Super Divine Artifact, described as more powerful than the Sea God Trident 19.
- Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud — Poseidon's inheritance token and a divine artifact containing sea power. It can release Sea God's Light for offense and support. Tang San leaves it at Shrek Academy, where the Level-Twelve Fixed Soul Cannon Shell Gods' Dusk destroys it 31.
Relationships
- Xiao Wu — Wife and mother of Tang Wutong. She urges him to seek help from Destruction and Life, but does not know he deliberately arranged their daughter's descent and soul division 18 26 27.
- Tang Hao — Father and intended replacement for the Douluo Plane's will. Tang San repeatedly attempts to save him after the Golden Ancient Tree falls 26 35 43.
- Ah Yin — Mother and intended life source of Douluo Star. Her residence in the Golden Ancient Tree helps expose the family's hidden arrangements 26 33.
- Tang Wutong / Wang Dong — Daughter and her derived personality. Tang San uses the divided soul to target Huo Yuhao and intends to erase Wang Dong's consciousness 27 39 44.
- Dai Mubai, Zhu Zhuqing, Ning Rongrong, and Oscar — Former Shrek Seven Devils companions. He demands deference from them and secures their participation in a dangerous mission through threats and promises of advancement 18 44 45.
- Ma Hongjun — Fellow Shrek Seven Devils member and Phoenix God. His intervention briefly reassures Tang San that his parents are safe; after Ma Hongjun's capture, Tang San invokes rescuing him as a reason for the others to descend 40 42 45.
- Da Ming and Er Ming — Xiao Wu's elder brothers and Tang San's lower-realm enforcers. They previously sacrificed themselves to him and later guarded his daughter's fragments 19 24 39.
- Huo Yuhao — The chosen child whom Tang San's ten-thousand-year plan is designed to ensnare 26 39.
- God of Destruction — Political rival, stronger veteran God King, and persistent critic of Tang San's misuse of enforcement authority 18 28 33 42.
- Feng Xuanyuan — Principal opposing powerhouse. He seals the Douluo Plane, dismantles Tang San's arrangements, and deliberately allows the rescue of Tang San's parents 18 20 43 44.
- Qian Renxue and Bibi Dong — Former enemies whose Godhoods Tang San says he shattered. Their restoration undermines his confidence, and Bibi Dong directly threatens his parents 33 35 40.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Banquet and Isolation of the Douluo Plane
Tang San hosts a lavish Sea God Hall banquet to cultivate support among the gods. During the gathering, he learns that contact with the Douluo Plane has been severed. Both his divine-sense probe and Unfixed Wind Waves are extinguished, after which a golden hand sent by Feng Xuanyuan slaps him in front of his guests 18.
He retaliates with the Asura Demon Sword, but Feng Xuanyuan's returning Phoenix attack overwhelms him with pressure. It then gives way to a Sky Screen showing lower-realm events. The God of Space confirms that the assembled gods cannot open a passage or intervene 19 20.
Siege of Shrek and Exposure of His Plans
As the Spirit Hall Empire attacks Shrek, Tang San reluctantly summons the God of Destruction and Goddess of Life. Wang Dong's appearance on the Sky Screen, followed by Da Ming and Er Ming's involvement, places his hidden arrangements under scrutiny. He defends his daughter's presence by noting that she is not a god, while concealing his role in sending her down 26 27 28.
The destruction of the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud forces him to confront Soul Tools capable of destroying divine artifacts. His attempt to convince Destruction that mortals with god-slaying power constitute a shared threat fails 31.
When Tang Hao and Ah Yin emerge from the collapsing Golden Ancient Tree, their growth from Divine Official strength to roughly Third-Level God power exposes their consumption of mortal souls. Even Tang San's former companions decline to defend him 33.
Failed Intervention and Rescue of His Parents
Bibi Dong's return prompts Tang San to threaten her and launch repeated, ineffective Asura sword attacks at the sealed plane. Ma Hongjun's arrival briefly restores his confidence, but Destruction points out that an unauthorized divine descent remains Tang San's responsibility as enforcer 35 40 42.
At the final moment, the divine-consciousness fragment inside Wang Dong manifests and evacuates Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Feng Xuanyuan permits their escape. Destruction interprets the rescue as part of an attempt to lure Tang San into the lower realm, while Tang San realizes that using the fragment has cost him control over Wang Dong 43 44.
Mission Through the Partial Opening
A gap subsequently opens in the seal, admitting only Second-Level Gods and below. Unable to go himself, Tang San pressures Dai Mubai, Zhu Zhuqing, Ning Rongrong, and Oscar to descend 44.
In private, he softens his tone, invokes their families and Ma Hongjun's capture, and promises to divide Feng Xuanyuan's Godhood among them after victory. He supplies the Sea God Trident with a portion of his divine consciousness, claiming it can unleash God King-level techniques to protect their escape 45.

“Afterward, we can seize the Phoenix God's Godhood and divide its power among you. Wouldn't it be wonderful for all of us to become God Kings together?” 45
