Demon Race era

An earlier Heavenly Court was ruled by the Demon Race. Its fortune increased after Fuxi and Nuwa joined it, while Demon Emperor Dijun served as its helmsman. 12 209

Purple Mansion Immortal Court declared war on the Demon Race Heavenly Court, prompting Dijun to assemble the Demon Gods and their respective armies for a final conflict. 76

During a Sub-Saint-level clash, the Heavenly Court's remaining buildings, floating islands, and South Heaven Gate were destroyed by the battle's shockwaves. 212

The Demon Race court later completed a Heavenly Marriage when Dijun wed the Seven-Colored Divine Phoenix in Xi He's place, receiving the associated heavenly merit. 157

Reopening under Qin Mu

Following the Witch–Demon War, Dao Ancestor Hongjun convened the Saints to decide the new Heavenly Emperor. Although the Heavenly Dao opposed Qin Mu receiving the position, Hongjun ultimately appointed him. 381 386

Qin Mu visited the ruined Demon Race Heavenly Court and began restoring its structures and laws. He also nurtured an Imperial Embryo in the Lingxiao Treasure Hall to become his third avatar. 383

Qin Mu's third avatar, Di Zun, then appeared in the Heavenly Realm, declared the Heavenly Court reopened, and proclaimed its authority over all beings and things within the Three Realms. 386 The court's gathered destiny empowered Di Zun to reach the Sub-Saint realm upon his emergence. Over the following thousand years, he repaired both the Heavenly Court and the Heavenly Realm. 386 388

Early consolidation

Di Zun recruited the Lord of Stars after their dispute over the latter's refinement of stellar origin power. The Lord of Stars was appointed Myriad Stars Heavenly Venerate, second only to Di Zun, and given responsibility for the stars and stellar energy; his accession substantially strengthened the Heavenly Court's fortune. 417 425

The court issued a Talent Recruitment Decree open to cultivators of any origin who possessed cultivation and upright character. Successful candidates could receive official posts, emoluments, and a share of the Heavenly Court's destiny. 426

While rogue cultivators formed much of its personnel, Di Zun selectively appointed Intercepting Sect disciples to posts such as Thunder Department and Fire Department True Gods. Disciples from other major sects were rejected. 427 467

The Queen Mother of the West later brought the Yaochi lineage into the Heavenly Court after Di Zun gave her Hongmeng Purple Qi. She received the title Golden Mother of Yaochi and authority over the court's female immortals. Her fate became bound to the court's destiny following her investiture. 430 442

Expansion and intervention

Di Zun intervened in the conflict between Xuanyuan's forces and Chi You's Witch Clan, stopping the Myriad Heavens Auspicious Clouds from exterminating the Witch Clan. He subsequently recruited Chi You as God of War and incorporated Chi You's Eighty-one Demon God Generals as Heavenly Generals. 457 464

The Heavenly Court also involved itself in the Human Race's conflict by directing the Nine-Heavenly Xuannü to assist Xuanyuan. The plan relied on Xuannü's destined connection with the Yellow Emperor and aimed to strengthen him against Chi You. 447

The Heavenly Court sought the Four Seas Dragon Race's formal submission, offering investiture, protection, celestial fortune, and authority over waters, rainfall, and water-element affairs. 514 Its later West Sea campaign was led by Di Zun alongside figures including the Lord of Stars, East Hua Emperor Lord, and Chi You, but the Dragon Emperor defeated the court's leading combatants. 528 535

Schism with the Western Heavenly Court

Haotian secretly recruited dissatisfied officials and planned to establish a rival court. When exposed, he openly rebelled against Di Zun, but was immediately overpowered by Di Zun's Saint-level strength. 596 601

Primordial Heavenly Venerate, Jie Yin, and Zhun Ti escorted Haotian and his followers away. Qin Mu allowed their departure, treating it as an opportunity to remove disloyal elements from the Eastern Heavenly Court. 603 606

The three Saints created a new realm in the Western Lands, where Haotian established the Western Heavenly Court. Its creation siphoned away part of the Eastern Heavenly Court's fortune and diminished its authority. 607 609

Di Zun later attended the Western Heavenly Court's inaugural celebration with leading Eastern Heavenly Court figures. The Eastern side won all three magical duels held at the event, embarrassing the newly founded rival court and deterring prospective recruits. 619 637 674

Great Calamity era

Dao Ancestor Hongjun later entrusted Haotian with management of the Investiture List; beings entered onto the list were required to obey the Western Heavenly Court. 633 Haotian intended to use this authority to kill Eastern Heavenly Court immortals, weaken the East, and increase his own court's strength. 637

The Eastern Heavenly Court allied with Human Race powers against the Western Heavenly Court during the struggle for newly formed Hongmeng Purple Qi. 661

The Western Heavenly Court's intervention on Xiqi's behalf further intensified the conflict between the rival courts. Its support for Xiqi was widely regarded as provoking a corresponding Eastern Heavenly Court and Intercepting Sect alignment with Great Shang. 679 680 681

At Peach Mountain, Haotian treated Chi You's arrival from the Eastern Heavenly Court as a possible intervention by a rival power in his court's jurisdiction. 755

After later setbacks, Haotian submitted to Saint Di Zun through Yin Tianzi. The Heavenly Court's fortune flowed into the combined destiny of the Intercepting Sect, Human Dao, and Underworld, and Haotian was ordered to publicly denounce Xiqi's Investiture List and support Great Shang. 820 821

Haotian's proclamation in support of Great Shang severed the Heavenly Court's former fortune connection to the Western Teachings and Clarify Teachings, significantly damaging those factions' fortune. 821 His break with his former Western Teachings backers persisted: when Zhun Ti later attacked him, Haotian activated the Western Heavenly Court Formation in defense. 874

Investiture of the Gods

At the Investiture Platform on Mount Qi, Di Zun mobilized the Eastern Heavenly Court's celestial stellar power with the Heavenly Emperor Sword. It converged with the Human Emperor's fortune and the power of the Six Paths of Reincarnation, bringing the authorities of heaven, humanity, and the Underworld together above the platform. 934

During the Investiture of the Gods, Di Zun remained in control of the Heavenly Court as Qin Mu's avatar, alongside Qin Mu's avatars governing the Human Realm and Underworld. 935
