Saints exert decisive influence over the Primordial World's major disputes. During the struggle for authority over the Underworld, Yuanshi attempted to claim it for the Heavenly Origin Sect and Western Teachings, while Tongtian defended the Intercepting Sect's claim against four opposing Saints through the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation. Nuwa initially declined to involve the Demon Race in the conflict. 180 183

Dao Ancestor Hongjun repeatedly summons the Saints to Zixiao Palace to settle matters affecting the entire world, including the selection of a Heavenly Emperor, the distribution of merit from the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, and the Investiture of the Gods Great Calamity. These gatherings expose their competing interests, particularly their reluctance to place their own disciples on the Investiture List. 376 378 390 631 634

The rise of the Western Heavenly Court creates new divisions among the Saints. Yuanshi, Jie Yin, and Zhun Ti support Haotian against Di Zun and the Eastern Heavenly Court, while other Saints respond according to their own interests. Haotian ultimately refines Hongmeng Purple Qi and attains Sainthood after a thousand years of seclusion. 603 658 671
