Background / History

Zhun Ti and his senior brother Jie Yin founded the Western Teachings on Mount Sumeru. Their initial declaration did not bring down sufficient Heavenly Dao merit, so the pair made forty-eight Grand Vows to save beings from suffering. Jie Yin ultimately vowed to repay the Heavenly Dao’s debt, allowing both founders to attain sainthood as incomplete Huabei Saints. 113

He later intervened in the struggle over Hongyun’s Hongmeng Purple Qi, declaring that the item was fated for the Western Lands and using a gigantic Buddhist palm to seize it. Tongtian interrupted him, and Zhun Ti eventually hurled the purple qi into a void rift rather than allow Tongtian to obtain it. 121 167

During the conflict for authority over the Underworld, Zhun Ti joined Jie Yin, Yuanshi, and Nuwa against Tongtian’s Immortal Slaying Sword Formation. Qin Mu entered the formation with Tongtian’s temporary empowerment and shattered Zhun Ti’s Golden Body with the Primordial Sky-Measuring Ruler, publicly humiliating him. 183 184 The Western Teachings subsequently failed to obtain the Underworld’s authority, deepening Zhun Ti’s resentment toward Qin Mu. 197

Zhun Ti later dispatched an incarnation against Qin Mu. The incarnation’s Buddhist techniques were overcome, and Qin Mu used the Sacred Spirit Pearl to isolate it from the Heavenly Dao before destroying it. The loss injured Zhun Ti’s true body and caused his Saintly cultivation to regress by an entire realm. 228 231 232 234

Personality

Zhun Ti is ambitious about expanding the Western Teachings and repeatedly pursues merit, disciples, treasures, and political influence for the West. He readily frames valuable opportunities as “fated” for his sect, including Hongyun’s Hongmeng Purple Qi and the Demon Race treasury. 121 374

He is also vindictive toward Qin Mu, whose actions cost the Western Teachings the Underworld and repeatedly damaged Zhun Ti’s prestige and cultivation. Although eager to confront Qin Mu in earlier conflicts, Zhun Ti becomes markedly more cautious after witnessing Qin Mu’s growth and receiving repeated defeats. 197 428 722
