Background / History

Family and Lily’s Departure

An’an is born during Lily and Xia Mu’s life together in the Human World. Lily treasures their family’s everyday milestones, unaware that Pupula has been manipulating her path toward becoming the sacrifice needed by the Flower Fairy Kingdom 40.

When the Demon God invades again, Lily prepares to return to her homeland. Before leaving, she plays with An’an in the flower garden and reveals her wings to delight her daughter. Xia Mu accepts Lily’s true nature and promises to care for An’an 41.

After Lily vanishes, An’an asks her father where her mother has gone. Xia Mu tells her that Lily has returned to being a fairy. Lily subsequently merges with the sacred tree to save the Labelle Continent; An’an, too young to understand the loss, comforts her grieving father and promises to remain with him 41. Later, she looks at a shooting star and wonders whether it is her mother 43.

Camellia and Kukulu

An’an encounters Camellia while the Elf King is trapped by her necklace. She immediately agrees to help, although she does not understand the requested incantation. Following Camellia’s instructions, she says her name and forms a guardian-spirit contract 46.

Meanwhile, Sen Lijiu secretly leaves the doll-sized Kukulu outside An’an’s home. Xia Mu finds him and gives him to his daughter, who places him beside her bed. That night, Kukulu awakens and accuses her of bringing him to an unfamiliar place. An’an indignantly explains that her father found him and initially dismisses him as a doll 46.

When her necklace glows pink, Kukulu summons Camellia and learns that she has contracted with An’an. Their noisy exchange nearly attracts Xia Mu’s attention, forcing An’an to pretend she has been talking to herself 47 48.

Accepting the Flower Code’s Mission

While flustered by Wang Ke’s arrival at the family flower garden, An’an drops a pot of rare camellias. Kukulu disguises himself as the intact flowerpot, concealing the accident from Wang Ke. An’an’s amazement at this magic leads her to ask how the flowers can be repaired 49.

Kukulu teaches her how to summon Camellia and hands her his Magic Wand. Camellia explains that only the Flower Code’s owner can learn flower fairy spells, and that accepting this power means gathering the Flower Elf Kings and restoring the Code. Eager to use magic, An’an agrees without giving the mission much thought. Her incantation then enables Camellia to restore the flowers 49.

Wang Ke collects the repaired camellia for his grandmother and gives An’an a camellia hair clip in thanks. Watching unseen, Sen Lijiu wonders whether she will retain the virtues Wang Ke praises once she learns what lies ahead 50.

Personality

An’an is affectionate and willing to help others. As a small child, she instinctively comforts her father after Lily’s departure. She later agrees without hesitation to help Camellia escape her necklace, despite not understanding the magical ritual involved 41 46.

She is also excitable, impulsive, and easily distracted by her crush on Wang Ke. The prospect of seeing him gets her out of bed immediately, while damaging his flowers makes her fear that he will hate her. Her eagerness to repair them prompts her to accept the Flower Code’s mission before considering its responsibilities 48 49.

Wang Ke describes her as modest, lovely, and humble. His praise leaves her delighted, though Sen Lijiu privately questions whether those qualities will survive the challenges awaiting her 50.
