History

Battlefield Reputation and Training

Shisui distinguishes himself on the Land of Water battlefield during the Third Shinobi World War, earning the name Body Flicker Shisui. Afterward, Minato assigns him to an S-rank operation against Danzo alongside team leader Sakumo and reconnaissance specialist Hizashi. Watching Sakumo eliminate the enemies at Danzo’s base makes Shisui recognize the gap between himself and Konoha’s strongest fighters 45 55 56.

Ziyan subsequently selects Shisui among nine young prodigies for training. Although considered the strongest of that initial group, Shisui is knocked unconscious by a single knife-hand strike during their trial fight. He agrees to become Ziyan’s student and receives the secret training scroll 63 64.

Village Security

Working with Obito and Kakashi, Shisui intercepts three intruders attempting to abduct Kurama Yakumo. His genjutsu prevents their escape, but a remote operative kills them before they can provide useful information 90.

He later helps Ziyan evade blame for damage to the Third Hokage’s stone likeness. Shisui, Itachi, and Obito claim responsibility and display their Susanoo as evidence, though the assembled leaders doubt that such giants could have gone unnoticed 114.

Konoha 12 Succession Assessment

As captain of the First-generation Konoha 12, Shisui negotiates the younger generation’s assessment with Shikamaru. Their apparent shogi meeting takes place within a joint illusion created by Shisui and Itachi. After Shikamaru breaks free, Shisui honors the negotiated conditions and shares information about his teammates’ abilities 132 134 135.

Naruto chooses him as his individual opponent. Shisui counters his weapons, wind techniques, and massed shadow clones before escalating to third-stage Susanoo against his Tailed Beast Transformation 137 138 139.

After Hayate and Haku lose their matches, Shisui asks Ziyan to explain Shikamaru’s unfamiliar technique. Ziyan demonstrates Wind Queen’s Strange Gate on him, leaving him dazed for over ten seconds. Shisui accepts the explanation and resumes the assessment 143 145.

Instructor and Surveillance Captain

Shisui volunteers to mentor the graduates and is appointed a joint mission captain alongside Shikamaru. He also works with Hiashi to organize a month-long surveillance operation, coordinating Byakugan coverage and leading both generations of the Konoha 12 in investigations of suspicious locations 151 152.

Land of Waves Mission

After months of D-rank assignments, Shisui takes Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata on Tazuna’s C-rank escort mission. The Demon Brothers’ apparent killing of him is a substitution trick; afterward, he confronts Tazuna about concealing the mission’s danger 161 162.

When two masked enemies target his team, Shisui orders the client evacuated and fights the Crystal Release ninja. He deliberately draws their battle away from the others, wounds his opponent through genjutsu, and allows him to escape for intelligence-gathering purposes 164 165 166 167.

Shisui kills Gato’s accompanying men, helps bury Zabuza, and proposes Peace Bridge as the completed bridge’s name. After returning to Konoha, he gives his students entry forms for the Chūnin Exams 169 170.

Pursuit Orders and the Fourth Shinobi World War

Following the failed Konoha Crush, Minato declares Naruto an SS-rank missing-nin and orders Shisui, Itachi, and Obito to capture him alive if possible, permitting lethal force if necessary 186.

Later, Shisui secretly accompanies a younger team as backup. When Itachi believes Sasuke has died fighting Deidara, Shisui blocks his attempt to retaliate against Amegakure and prepares to use his Mangekyō Sharingan. Sasuke’s safe return ends the confrontation 235 236.

Shisui joins Sakumo, Itachi, Guy, Kakashi, and Shikamaru in breaking the Five Elements Seal to reach the captive Kushina. During the ensuing war, he and three other Uchiha deploy their Susanoo against the reincarnated Madara after the allied army retreats 242 244.
