Background / History
Childhood on Earth
Ye Fan first meets Luo Yan when the Ye family moves next door in Danan City. At six or seven years old, he receives a Jade Stone pendant from his new neighbor. Earth cultivators later notice the pendant and abduct him to learn its origin; Luo Yan finds him, kills the three kidnappers, and rescues him 29 30.
Impressed by the rescue, Ye Fan asks to learn from Luo Yan. His neighbor insists that he teaches only martial arts, gives him a body-tempering manual, and secretly places three drops each of blood essence and Divine Liquid inside him. Ye Fan grows into a high-school student with an exceptionally strong physique, but has not yet become a cultivator 30 31 32.
Journey to Big Dipper
The Nine Dragons Pulling a Coffin carries Ye Fan and his companions away from Earth. During their dangerous journey, he fights a ferocious beast to a standstill, while his Jade Stone repels the Crocodile Monster on Mars. The survivors arrive in Big Dipper’s Desolate Forbidden Zone, where Ye Fan tells Pang Bo about Luo Yan and shares lifesaving Divine Liquid with him 33.
Eating the forbidden zone’s Sacred Fruit restores Ye Fan and Pang Bo to the appearance of twelve- or thirteen-year-olds. Ye Fan later reunites with Luo Yan near the Demon Emperor’s ancient hall and learns that his parents’ lifespans have been extended. Following Luo Yan’s instructions, he searches discarded corpses and obtains the golden page of the Dao Scripture 72 73.
Early Eastern Wasteland Adventures
Ye Fan travels with Dragon Horse and Donkey, frequently arguing and fighting with both. Their companionship also draws him into Luo Yan’s schemes, including stripping Duan De of his treasures. When Jiang Tingting reveals the Li Family’s abuses, Ye Fan obtains Luo Yan’s permission to intervene and joins the two beasts in destroying the household 73 76 83 85.
Believing Luo Yan needs rescue from a Demon Race small world, Ye Fan devises a plan to enlist the Tianxuan Saintess. He selectively presents Luo Yan’s connection to Earth as a possible lead in her search for an old acquaintance. Although she recognizes his ulterior motive, she goes to the small world; Ye Fan is subsequently left behind with Dragon Horse and Qin Yao 90 92 93 94.
Divine City and the Ancient Road
As the Source Heavenly Master’s successor, Ye Fan uses rival stone-gambling workshops to gain resources and fame under the disguise Gu Feng. A Source Arts expert exposes him while an Extreme Dao Emperor Weapon seals Divine City, leaving him unable to escape. Luo Yan publicly declares him his nephew, stopping open pursuit and prompting Yaoguang Holy Land to withdraw its Pursuit Order 150.
Luo Yan secures resources for Ye Fan’s planned Four Extremes breakthrough and explains the Sacred Body’s curse and cultivation mysteries. Jiang Taixu agrees to oversee his tribulation, which is scheduled after Luo Yixian’s match with the Golden-Winged Little Peng King 156 163 165.
After staying with the Azure Emperor for nearly half a year, Ye Fan departs for the Starry Sky Ancient Road. Ten years later, he and Dragon Horse reach the Human Race First City and discover that Luo Yan has issued a wanted notice for him as a trial. His Source Arts disguise prevents immediate recognition 195 202.
Heavenly Court and the Forbidden Zones
By Luo Yan’s return to the present era, Ye Fan leads the Heavenly Court and possesses a Great Accomplishment Sacred Body. He challenges his childhood mentor to an ostensibly equal-realm duel in the Undying Mountain, only to discover that Luo Yan’s immortal-domain body is beyond his ability to injure. The beating nevertheless exposes him to the future, Quasi-Immortal Emperor version of his own Heavenly Emperor Fist 298 299.
The two investigate an altar connected to the resurrection of Ancient Supremes. Luo Yan warns that the resurrected enemies may target Ye Fan and urges him to monitor the forbidden zones. Ye Fan returns to the Heavenly Court to study the advanced fist art, then later tears apart a Dark Supreme who has undergone ultimate sublimation 300 303.
Following the Golden Crow Great Emperor’s death, Ye Fan attains the Dao, eliminates further forbidden zones, and relocates the Undying Mountain into the Heavenly Court. He subsequently becomes a Red Dust Immortal 311.
Future Era and the Boundary Sea
In the future Heavenly Court, Ye Fan is a Quasi-Immortal Emperor who knows of Luo Yan’s attempts to alter history. Their reunion mixes gratitude with retaliation: Ye Fan, Wushi, and the Female Emperor confront Luo Yan inside the concealed Immortal Mountain and leave him battered 269.
Ye Fan later returns from the Boundary Sea with evidence of approaching enemies. As the invasion worsens, he questions whether his era is real, feeling that Luo Yan is alive while its other inhabitants may have died long ago. He nevertheless fights alongside Wushi and the Female Emperor against the Eerie forces; their principal disadvantage is the enemy’s supreme imperial artifact rather than individual combat strength 277 292.
After Luo Yan departs to battle a Weird Immortal Emperor’s avatar, the three prevent the Ancient Supremes from unleashing another Dark Turmoil. In the later Heavenly Court, Ye Fan investigates Luo Yan’s fixation on Ye Xian and Ye Yishui’s unborn child and helps safeguard its birth 316 317.
Appearance
- Childhood: A timid six- or seven-year-old who initially hides behind his father when meeting Luo Yan 29.
- Adolescence: Develops a physique far stronger than that of his classmates 31.
- Rejuvenated appearance: Looks twelve or thirteen after consuming Sacred Fruit in the Desolate Forbidden Zone 72.
- Adult features: Has black hair; his future self’s eyes are described as black as ink and immeasurably deep 269 277 298.
- Sacred Body presence: At great accomplishment, radiates immense blood energy and overwhelming pressure 298 299.
Personality
Ye Fan combines fierce ambition with irreverent humor. Luo Yan has been his idol since childhood, but Ye Fan dreams of surpassing and suppressing him, declaring that “idols are meant to be defeated.” He openly mocks his mentor’s romantic boasts, trades insults with Dragon Horse and Donkey, and requests extra preparation time before their duel under the pretense of giving Luo Yan time to rest 85 160 298.
His boldness does not exclude calculation or concern for others. He shares lifesaving medicine with Pang Bo, worries repeatedly about his parents, and initially restrains himself against the Li Family to avoid exposing Luo Yan to enemies. His plan to recruit the Tianxuan Saintess relies on carefully selected truths rather than a straightforward fabrication 33 73 83 90.
As Heavenly Emperor, his confidence remains uncompromising even against resurrected Supremes. In the future, however, that confidence coexists with awareness of the Heavenly Court’s possible collapse and uncertainty about the reality of his own era 269 277 300.
