| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initial rejuvenation | 12 | After drinking Shi Hou’s Black-Scaled Goat soup, some gray hairs turn black, wrinkles diminish, and his skin gains a healthy luster. |
| Renewed blood vitality | 34 | Awakens after the Sacrificial Spirit broth with abundant blood energy, mostly blackened hair, and fewer wrinkles. No specific realm breakthrough is stated. |
| Further rejuvenation | 43 | Credits the Suanni meat with restoring his vigor. His walking stick becomes a prop rather than a necessity, and he says he feels capable of living another fifty years. |
- During the Suanni expedition, Shi Yunfeng is grouped with the ordinary Blood Moving Realm cultivators unable to intervene in the battlefield’s strongest clashes; his exact substage is not given 25.
Appearance
Shi Yunfeng initially appears as a hale, gray-haired elder with a wrinkled, gaunt face, clouded eyes, and withered hands. Repeated meals of Shi Hou’s spiritual food visibly rejuvenate him 2 3 12 34 43.
- Clothing: Wears an animal-hide robe 16 43.
- Walking stick: A constant accessory early on; after the Suanni feast, he twirls it for amusement 2 43.
- Gaze: Described as hawklike when examining Shi Hou and the Stone Pot 2.
- Goatee: His long-treasured goatee is accidentally singed into smoking curls by lightning from Shi Hao’s mouth 42.
Personality
Shi Yunfeng places the village’s survival above the value of individual treasures. He orders the stolen Green-Scaled Eagle eggs returned rather than expose Stone Village to continuing retaliation, and later warns Shi Hou not to kill Zi Chen because the village cannot yet withstand the Purple Mountain Marquis’s wrath 9 37.
His protectiveness does not mean sheltering the children from every danger. After their successful hunt, he stops the adults from punishing them and argues that surviving the Great Wilderness requires practical experience. He also approves the dangerous hunt for the Demon Ape and Li Fire Bull Demon once convinced that the village has become strong enough 18 44.
He is openly emotional about opportunities for the clan, frequently trembling or shedding tears at Shi Hou’s achievements. Although he initially interprets the cooking system’s dances as ancient sacred arts, he later proposes an unconventional experiment of his own: stewing the Suanni Treasure Bone to make its principles accessible to the villagers 3 5 32 43.
Abilities & Skills
Bone Text and Rune Instruction
Shi Yunfeng teaches the children bone text, explaining it as an innate precious art of primordial remnants that embodies the order of heaven and earth 12.
- Guides the children’s rune practice and physical training 13.
- Attempts to construct Shi Hou’s first rune by introducing his own vital essence into the boy’s body 12.
- Limitation: Shi Hou’s blood energy destroys the foreign runic power and knocks Shi Yunfeng’s fingers away 12.
- Studies the Suanni Treasure Bone but finds its runes too profound for most villagers to comprehend; he identifies Shi Hao as the exception 43.
Healing and Diagnosis
Shi Yunfeng treats injuries with runic tools and medicine, and can assess depleted vitality 10 15.
- Determines that Shi Hou’s collapse is not fatal, identifying severe vitality depletion compounded by emotional agitation 10.
- Uses a bone talisman to stop Shi Feijiao’s bleeding, though the poisoned wound remains blackened and unable to heal normally 15.
- Recognizes the medicinal potency of Shi Hou’s transformed chive and uses its juice to heal Shi Feijiao 15.
- Stops the children from overeating spiritual food when its effects leave them dangerously overheated and energetic 11.
Beast and Treasure Recognition
His knowledge helps the village distinguish valuable discoveries from immediate threats 2 6 14 16.
- Identifies the Stone Pot’s aura as that of a primordial treasure associated with the Great Dao 2.
- Recognizes Kang as an auspicious beast and halts Shi Linhu’s attack 6.
- Identifies the hatched eagle chicks as Heaven-Tier vicious beasts that have mutated after their atavistic transformation 14.
- Recognizes Kang’s altered appearance as a bloodline mutation and argues that it could become an important battle companion 16.
- Recognizes the Green-Scaled Eagle’s later transformation as renewed blood and atavism 34.
Village Leadership
Shi Yunfeng directs expeditions, allocates resources, and manages the village’s response to stronger factions 5 18 23 33 37.
- Gives Shi Hou first choice of the hunting team’s best ingredients to strengthen the children, with surplus food shared among adults 5.
- Selects Shi Hou and Shi Hao to accompany the village’s elite fighters into the Great Wilderness, refusing the other children 23.
- Assigns treasure bones and the Li Fire Bull Demon’s horn to the ancestral hall for study, while entrusting the ancient beasts’ flesh to Shi Hou 33.
- Balances retaliation with restraint when opponents have backing beyond the village’s present strength 37 40.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Recognition of the Stone Pot
Shi Yunfeng first treats the transformed pot as an ancestral blessing and interprets Shi Hou’s cooking dance as the lost Primordial Sacrificial Dance. After witnessing the food’s effects, he leads the villagers to consult the Willow Deity. Its assurance that the pot is harmless prompts him to organize better ingredients for Shi Hou 2 3 5.
Protecting the Children and Recovering the Hunters
He joins the armed search for the children after their raid on the Green-Scaled Eagle’s nest. Once they return, he prioritizes avoiding retaliation and orders the eggs offered back. When the eagle instead entrusts its young to the village, he has the eggs placed beneath the Willow Deity to suppress their attractive vital essence 8 9 10.
Following Bei Village’s ambush, he requests restorative soup for the wounded hunters and treats Shi Feijiao’s poisoned leg with the medicinal chive supplied by Shi Hou 14 15.
Suanni Expedition and Rival Clans
Shi Yunfeng authorizes the expedition to seek spoils from the beasts’ fighting and later permits Shi Hou and Shi Hao to join the elite hunting party. When the boys continue into the strongest part of the battlefield, he specifically reminds Shi Hou to protect Shi Hao rather than become absorbed in collecting treasures 18 23 25.
During the rival clans’ challenge at Stone Village, he warns against killing Zi Chen and asserts the village’s ownership of its winnings. Even after the visiting powers are driven off, he remains concerned about the enemies they have made 37 38 40.
The Rune-Soup Plan
After the Suanni feast rejuvenates him, Shi Yunfeng identifies a remaining obstacle: increased blood vitality has not made the villagers capable of understanding the Suanni Treasure Bone. He proposes using the Stone Pot to extract its principles directly 43.
When Shi Hou discovers that the process requires the heart blood of the Demon Ape and Li Fire Bull Demon, Shi Yunfeng approves the hunt. After the expedition succeeds, he places the Suanni bone into the pot for the brewing process 44 49.
