Background / History

SEELE’s Preparations

According to the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Mass Production Models were indispensable to the Human Instrumentality Project. SEELE’s agreement with Hayato Noda left the models under SEELE’s management while Hayato would control Dark Lops EVA. When Hayato turned against them, the models were still undergoing calibration and were not considered ready for deployment 207.

Hayato had previously recommended strengthening the models. His actual intention was to absorb them and ascend to the mystic level, preparing for possible intervention by powerful beings during his revenge against the Land of Light 207.

Absorption by Dark Lops EVA

Chairman Ghir ordered Models One and Two to attack Dark Lops EVA alongside ground forces, hoping to prevent Saberuno from capturing them intact. The strength gap proved overwhelming: Dark Lops EVA broke Model One’s imitation Lance, split open its head, and absorbed its core and body. Model Two attempted to bite through his armor, but he battered it, extracted and ate its core, and absorbed its remaining flesh 208.

Dark Lops EVA subsequently attacked facilities housing the other models. Conventional forces and experimental weapons failed to stop him, while humanity could not destroy its own reinforced creations even with nuclear weapons. The Zero Guard finally intercepted him outside the last Mass Production Model hangar 217.

Twelve Mass Production Model energy signatures were detected inside Darklops Mecha Zero when Hayato initiated his final transformation. Their absorbed bodies contributed to the 150-meter Final Angel, Xeronus, whose back bore twelve snake-like model heads 225.

The Final Angel’s Puppet Forces

The Final Angel summoned four flesh-and-blood models against the Zero Guard after claiming to have killed Zero. Ultimate Force Zero shattered their AT Fields with concentrated attacks, but the models survived catastrophic bodily damage, regenerated, and grew wings. Their counterattack badly damaged the Jean Brothers and forced the team to retreat 232 234.

Models then landed around the world as part of Celebro’s broadcast ultimatum demanding the surrender of Zero’s companions and Lilith. Their arrival in New York accompanied widespread riots and violence. Later, puppets stationed in eleven major cities activated simultaneously and began fighting national and UN forces 236 237 246.

Guarding Zero

Seven Puppet Mass Production Models were summoned to guard Zero’s Cross in central Tokyo-3. Their numerical advantage and Replica Lances prevented Unit-02, Unit-00, and Pedanium Unit-03 from reaching him, keeping Asuka several hundred meters from her objective 250 251.

The puppets used coordinated restraint as well as direct attacks. One deliberately allowed Pedanium Unit-03’s drill to penetrate deeper so it could clamp onto the unit’s arm, while another attacked with a Replica Lance. Two others drove Unit-00 away from the main battle 252.

Shinji’s Unit-01 intervened with the Spark Blade and Head Blades, severing arms and wings. Zoffy subsequently destroyed several models with his M87 Ray, while Pedanium Unit-03 engaged another with its beam cannon 253 261.

Defeat Across the World

The Ultra Brothers dispersed to cities under attack. Their finishing attacks generally annihilated the models’ remains to prevent regeneration 254 257.

The Final Angel continued summoning models during the later battle. Belial annihilated three with the Ultimate Battle Nizer, while Ultimate Force Zero fought others. The remaining battlefield models were destroyed by golden light accompanying Zero’s return in his winged form 272 276 283.

Appearance

The original models have pure-white bodies, no eyes or shoulder armor, and oversized mouths occupying nearly half their faces 208.

• Scarlet lips and exposed teeth: Their mouths appear to smile, accompanied by eerie laughter 208.
• Neck restraint devices: Model Two’s restraint shattered when Dark Lops EVA seized it by the neck 208.
• Wings: Puppet models can grow wings and take flight 234 257.
• Armored and mechanical features: Later puppets are described with hard shells, metal joints, and thrusters alongside regenerating flesh 258.
• Integrated heads: The Final Angel’s absorbed models appear as long-necked, snake-like heads; those draining Infinite Mebius display red eyes 225 276.

Abilities & Skills

Energy Supply and Core Dependence

• The original units use human-made imitation S² Engines, providing virtually limitless energy 208.
• Destroying their bodies is insufficient unless their cores are also destroyed 217.
• The puppets’ n2 cores remain their decisive weak points, surviving even attacks that remove limbs or half a body 234.
• Ultraseven locates a puppet’s n2 core using Ultra Vision 255.

Regeneration and Durability

• Puppets rapidly heal wounds, replace severed limbs, and attempt to reassemble after being blown apart 234 254 256.
• The Hong Kong model bites off its own trapped arm and immediately begins regrowing it 254.
• Their shells withstand heavy blows from Leo and repair fine cracks almost as soon as they appear 258.
• Complete annihilation of the remains prevents recovery; the Ultra Brothers repeatedly use finishing beams for this purpose 254 255 257.
• Reinforced original models remain vastly weaker than Dark Lops EVA, who breaks their armor and weapons with ease 208.

AT Fields

• Puppet models produce pale blood-red, honeycomb-shaped barriers capable of blocking Mirror Knight’s Energy Sword and Jean-bot’s battle axe 234.
• Mirror Knight’s reflective maze disrupts their movement and field stability; simultaneous finishing attacks then shatter the barriers 234.
• A model can reshape its AT Field into a solid disc and throw it offensively 257.
• AT Field energy within a Replica Lance counteracts Hikari’s Energy Sword during a weapon clash 260.

Close-Quarters Combat

• Models use bites, punches, kicks, headbutts, claws, throws, and body charges alongside their lances 208 255 258.
• Puppet models are agile enough to move through Pedanium Unit-03’s missile barrage and attack from multiple directions 251.
• Their strength can overpower unarmored Hikari; two models together briefly gain a strength advantage over Belial 260 272.
• Some movements resemble Zero’s fighting techniques, and Hikari identifies a model’s body as having absorbed Ultra Warrior data 259 260.
• They can employ deception: the Toronto model conceals its mouth until it can surprise Mebius with a shoulder bite 259.
• Their combat experience remains inferior to veterans such as Jack and Belial 256 272.

Energy Attacks

• The original models possess almost no ranged weapons; those available are handheld 208.
• Puppets fire dark-purple beams and lightning-wreathed energy spheres from their mouths 234 254.
• They can form purple energy in their hands to reinforce strikes or attack at close range 258.
• Replica Lances can fire purple light bullets and larger lightning-wreathed blasts 259 260.

Flight and Propulsion

• Wings allow airborne movement and attempted escape 253 257.
• Thrusters support rapid charges, jumps, and forceful grappling maneuvers 258.

Light Absorption

• The model heads incorporated into the Final Angel drain and consume Ultra Warrior light energy 276.
• Seven heads feed on Infinite Mebius simultaneously, rapidly dimming his body and accelerating his Color Timer alarm 276.

• Greatswords / Replica Lances of Longinus — The original models transform their greatswords into imitation Lances; puppets are likewise armed with replicas 208 232.
• Energy-corroding lance tips — A grazing hit leaves a painful gray mark on Glenfire and disrupts his flame energy until he burns the effect away 234.
• Energy-reinforced lance attacks — The weapons can deflect an Ultra Slash and channel ranged attacks, but sufficiently powerful strikes and beams can break them 254 259 260.
• Reinforced armor and restraint devices — Protect the original bodies but fail against Dark Lops EVA’s superior strength 208.
