Ailin was pulled from his game into Teyvat and woke in the body of Ellin, the Future Knight, discovering he had become a girl. As he accepted Ellin’s parents as his own, a Cryo Vision and a bow appeared in his arms.
After receiving a Cryo Vision and Amos' Bow, Ailin accepted life in Ellin's body and took her name. A system then loaded, granting him Ganyu's skills and talents and materializing his game inventory.
Ellin inspected her new system and discovered talents that let her learn any demonstrated move and gain extra Visions by befriending other Vision bearers. After recovering from her training, she went out to explore Mondstadt, where her new appearance drew curious and admiring attention, and arrived at the Adventurers' Guild.
Ellin met Fischl and bonded with her over their shared melodramatic manner of speaking. Fischl helped Ellin register with the Adventurers' Guild and secure a C-rank commission, then took her out of the city.
Ellin and Fischl hunted three Large Pyro Slimes in the Whispering Woods, where Ellin astonished Fischl with her rapid Cryo archery. Fischl watched Ellin’s skirt flutter during the fight and became excited by what she saw.
After Blazing Whopperflowers ambushed Ellin and Fischl in the Whispering Woods, Ellin made a desperate wish for help. Her Cryo Vision answered by summoning Feng'er, a white phoenix who pledged to fight for her.
Ellin summoned Feng'er, an Ice Phoenix familiar, who helped Fischl and Oz fight two Whopperflowers while Ellin charged a Frostflake Arrow. The Whopperflowers unleashed a devastating Pyro barrage, leaving Fischl trapped amid a forest fire as they advanced on her.
Fischl and Ellin coordinated their attacks to break both Whopperflowers’ shields, then Ellin unleashed a powerful Frostflake Arrow that blasted away the flames. Outside the forest, Jean learned that Fischl and Ellin were trapped inside and prepared to rescue them, but spotted a blue light in the fire.
Ellin and Fischl emerged safely from the inferno after Ellin’s Frost Arrow carved a path through the flames, though the onlookers wondered how she had become so powerful. After they received treatment and returned to Mondstadt, Fischl and her parents invited Ellin to dinner.
Ellin shared dinner with Fischl and her parents, learned how their praise and later rejection shaped Fischl’s fantasy persona, and promised to remain her friend. After dinner, Fischl invited Ellin to bathe with her, leaving Ellin flustered and unsure how to respond.
Ellin and Fischl grew closer during a sleepover, while their familiars had an awkward romantic exchange. After Ellin and Fischl collected their commission reward, Cyrus and Jean apologized to Ellin and her father for the danger caused by the Guild’s misinformation and the Knights’ failure to find the Blazing Whopperflower.
After the forest fire, Ellin reflected on the dangers of Teyvat and realized she needed to improve how quickly she channeled elemental energy. She inspected her system inventory and wondered whether an energy-recharge artifact could help her channel energy faster.
Ellin absorbed two Artifacts, gaining much faster elemental control and greatly increased physical strength, while her slimes grew larger again. She spent a cheerful day gathering Valberries with Fischl, and the chapter ended with the two friends expressing how much they meant to each other.
Ellin visited the Training Ground to learn how to control her Cryo Vision, and Noelle taught her how to form shields and elemental greatswords. Ellin quickly applied the lesson in surprising ways, leaving Noelle stunned as she summoned a huge ice greatsword.
Ellin impressed Noelle with her skill wielding an ice greatsword, then invited her to lunch at the Good Hunter Restaurant. There, Ellin thanked Noelle for caring about her and Fischl, and the two grew closer as they shared a salad.
Fischl searched for a gift for Ellin and decided to earn enough Mora to buy her a Cryo Slime pendant. While gathering wolfhooks in Wolvendom with Oz, she discovered Abyss Mages and Hilichurls digging around a Statue of the Seven.
Fischl was ambushed by the Abyss Order in Wolvendom and, determined to survive, sent Oz to Mondstadt for help before retreating into the forest. Meanwhile, Ellin learned Fischl had not returned from her commission and rushed to Wolvendom to find her.
Fischl was gravely wounded after fighting the Abyss Mage and its Hilichurls, and she called for Ellin before losing consciousness. Ellin arrived in time to send Oz and Feng'er to carry Fischl to Mondstadt, then faced the Abyss Mage in a furious rage.
Enraged by Fischl’s near-fatal injuries, Ellin unleashed Celestial Shower and charged the Abyss Mages and Hilichurl Berserkers. After killing one Berserker, she was thrown back and injured, but she rose and attacked the remaining six with a named sword technique.
Ellin used the Wind-Pressure Sword and fought through severe injuries to defeat the Hilichurl Berserkers. Exhausted but still furious, she turned her attention to the two Abyss Mages.
Ellin fought the two Abyss Mages who had helped injure Fischl, killing them with brutal Cryo attacks. After avenging her friend, she collapsed in the rain from her injuries and exhaustion.
After Fischl recovered from the battle in Wolvendom, she stayed by Ellin’s bedside and blamed herself for her friend’s injuries. Ellin finally woke, and their friends and family visited as she began to recover at home.
Ellin adjusted to life after waking, growing closer to her parents, then spent a commission and a day at Cape Oath with Fischl. That night, she reassured Fischl that she had chosen to protect her and wanted her to be happy.
Fischl overcame her guilt and gave Ellin a pendant, and their friendship unlocked a second Vision for Ellin and a new bow for Fischl. At Cape Oath, Fischl kissed Ellin’s cheek and swore to remain her best friend for life.
Ellin used new Artifacts and became stronger, but her hair and slimes grew again, leaving her embarrassed by their size. Fischl returned to her Guild work with her loneliness eased, and Ellin met a green-haired girl at the training grounds as she was heading home for lunch.
