Chapters 101–126 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 101Why Feng'er Said No

After Klee stayed the night with Ellin, Feng'er rejected Oz by demonstrating that she could create an egg on her own. The next morning, Ellin changed her mind about helping Oz win Feng'er over, and a white-haired boy arrived to meet her for the ruins expedition.

  • Klee stayed in the Serenitea Pot with Ellin and fell asleep clinging to her.
  • Feng'er told Oz she did not love him and created an elemental egg to show she could reproduce alone.
  • Fischl asked Ellin to explore some ruins with her Adventurers' Guild friend in her place, and Ellin waited with Feng'er at Mondstadt's fountain.
  • Feng'er explained that she would not marry Oz because their linked minds and shared life would make Ellin experience their intimacy, convincing Ellin to oppose the match.
  • A white-haired boy wearing goggles and a bandage on his nose arrived at the fountain.

Ch. 102Bennett's lucky day

Ellin met Bennett after Fischl was called away from their planned expedition and agreed to explore the ruins with him instead. Though Bennett warned her that his bad luck endangered everyone nearby, Ellin persuaded him to accept her help, promising to make the day lucky.

  • Ellin recognized Bennett as Fischl's friend and offered to join his expedition because Fischl had received an urgent assignment.
  • Bennett warned Ellin that his bad luck harmed people around him and urged her to cancel their trip.
  • Ellin admired Bennett's kindness and insisted that meeting her marked the start of his good luck.
  • Bennett agreed to team up after Ellin threatened to leave if he kept refusing.
  • Ellin and Bennett left Mondstadt together to explore the ruins.

Ch. 103That's Bennett for You

Bennett and Ellin became trapped in a coastal ruin after Bennett triggered its mechanisms, and his attempts to open the doors caused more trouble. Ellin froze the flooding chamber and prepared to smash through the sealed door with the Skyward Blade.

  • Ellin and Bennett entered a hidden ruin beneath the cliffs of Windrise, where Ellin quickly defeated the monsters in the first chamber.
  • Bennett triggered a floor mechanism that sealed the passages, trapping them inside, and Ellin pointed out three mechanisms that might open the doors.
  • Bennett operated the yellow and blue mechanisms, setting off traps in the next chamber and prompting a startled woman to cry out.
  • Bennett activated the green mechanism, causing seawater to pour into the first chamber, but Ellin froze the water and sealed the openings with ice.
  • Ellin summoned the Skyward Blade and stood before the sealed stone door, ready to break through it.

Ch. 104I'll remember this!

Ellin broke through a heavy stone door with the Skyward Blade and reassured Bennett before leading him onward through the domain. In the second stage, they found and freed Eula, who had been pinned inside an iron cage by arrows after chasing an Abyss Mage.

  • Ellin sliced a gap through the heavy stone door and told Bennett that she would protect him from bad luck.
  • Bennett followed Ellin to the second stage, where they saw an iron cage and arrows caught in its bars.
  • Ellin and Bennett discovered Eula trapped in the cage and pinned in an embarrassing pose by five iron arrows.
  • Ellin freed Eula, who explained that she had chased an Abyss Mage into the domain and been caught by the traps.
  • Eula told Ellin that she would remember their humiliating first formal meeting.

Ch. 105Proof of time travel

Ellin, Bennett, Eula, and Feng'er fought through the Domain and found a Bell Ring that Ellin recognized from a photograph of her future self. The group gave the Bell Ring to Ellin, strengthening her belief that she would travel through time someday.

  • Eula explained that she had followed an Abyss Mage into the Domain and joined Ellin and Bennett in exploring it.
  • Eula said she had opened the second-stage door by pushing three mechanisms from left to right, leaving Ellin to reconsider Bennett's earlier mechanism theory.
  • The group reached the final chamber and defeated the Hilichurls and four Abyss Mages attacking a barrier.
  • Ellin broke the barrier with the Skyward Blade and discovered a golden Bell Ring on the platform.
  • Ellin recognized the Bell Ring from a photograph of her future self, and Eula and Bennett gave it to her as loot.

Ch. 106Ellin broke character again

After resolving the incident, Ellin reassured Eula that she did not judge her for the Lawrence Clan’s past and drove away the storm caused by Bennett’s bad luck. At the Good Hunter, Ellin used her charm to persuade Sara to serve Eula and Bennett, and the group went inside to eat.

  • Eula asked Ellin why she did not hate her, and Ellin explained that she judged Eula by her actions rather than her Lawrence bloodline.
  • As the group left the ruins, Bennett’s bad luck brought on a sudden thunderstorm, so Ellin soared into the sky and tore open the clouds with Anemo.
  • Ellin brought Eula and Bennett to the Good Hunter, where Sara initially refused their food orders because Bennett’s dishes had sold out and Eula was from the Lawrence Clan.
  • Ellin pleaded with Sara using a sorrowful expression, and Sara agreed to provide all the dishes before Ellin led the group inside.

Ch. 108The Person Ellin Liked

Ellin told Bennett that she had admired Eula for a long time, and Eula overheard her confession before fleeing in embarrassment. The next morning, Ellin learned that Feng'er’s bond with her made a relationship with Oz impossible, then found Venti waiting outside her door with a new toy from Lisa.

  • Ellin told Bennett she had long admired a refined, blue-and-white-haired eldest daughter with a Cryo Vision, while Eula listened from around a corner and realized Ellin meant her.
  • Eula blushed and hurried away, and Ellin later returned to the Serenitea Pot, where Noelle, Sucrose, Fischl, and Klee were staying.
  • Fischl told Ellin that Oz had asked her to help him win Feng'er over, but Ellin explained that she and Feng'er shared thoughts and a soul, so she would feel Feng'er’s marriage.
  • Fischl agreed that Oz and Feng'er were not suited to each other and said she would tell Oz to forget Feng'er.
  • The next morning, Venti waited outside Ellin’s home and invited her to try a new toy he had gotten from Lisa.

Ch. 109Should You Be Trapped in a Windless Land: Prologue

Ellin joined Venti in using Lisa’s monocles to discover the imaginary friends of people around Mondstadt. After their morning of exploration, they realized several children’s unusual imaginary friends came from stories told by Stanley.

  • Venti gave Ellin a monocle and explained how it revealed people’s imaginary friends, and she agreed to explore Mondstadt with him.
  • Ellin and Venti saw a little girl playing with an imaginary friend and spent the morning searching the city for others.
  • Ellin and Venti discovered that Donna imagined Diluc as a domineering romantic figure, while Timmie imagined a Ruin Guard.
  • When Timmie scolded them for frightening his pigeons, Ellin rebuked him, gave him Mint Jelly, and made him promise to behave better.
  • Ellin and Venti found that Flora imagined a Puffball and Ella Musk imagined a Lawachurl, and learned that their favorite imaginary friends came from Stanley’s adventure stories.

Ch. 110The wind and Mondstadt

Ellin and Venti met Stanley at the Temple of the Lion of the South Wind and learned why he still appeared alive despite his companions’ deaths in the windless Mare Jivari. After Stanley left, Jack asked them to find the legendary weapons he claimed were in Dadaupa Gorge, and Venti agreed when Jack offered him rare wine.

  • Ellin used a story about Jack to persuade Venti to visit the Temple of the Lion of the South Wind.
  • Ellin and Venti found Stanley telling Jack adventure stories and saw Stanley’s Imaginary Friend beside him.
  • Stanley boasted about reaching the Mare Jivari, while Ellin and Venti recognized his weakness and showed little interest in his claims.
  • Jack told Ellin and Venti that he wanted to become an adventurer and asked them to find Stanley’s supposed Sword of Brilliant Valor and Shield of Radiant Will in Dadaupa Gorge.
  • Jack offered Venti a bottle of rare wine, and Venti eagerly agreed to set off for Dadaupa Gorge.

Ch. 111Two Con Artists, Old and Young

Ellin and Venti helped Jack find a battered sword and shield at Dadaupa Gorge, presenting them as legendary treasures to fulfill his dream. After suspecting Stanley had secretly prepared them to spare Jack’s feelings, they followed him to Angel’s Share, where the drunken Stanley began speaking in distress.

  • Stanley overheard Jack discussing the Sword of Brilliant Valor and the Shield of Radiant Will, then went to Dadaupa Gorge while Ellin and Venti agreed to help Jack.
  • Ellin and Venti led Jack through a Hilichurl camp and convinced him that a rusty iron sword and a battered wooden shield were the legendary treasures he sought.
  • Jack happily left with the sword and shield, and Venti confronted Stanley, who had been hiding nearby and then hurried away.
  • Ellin and Venti suspected Stanley had gone to trouble to prepare the treasures for Jack, and Venti asked Ellin to visit Angel’s Share with him that night.
  • Near closing time, Ellin and Venti waited beside the drunken Stanley at Angel’s Share until he began asking what he should do.

Ch. 112The Man Who Abandoned the Present

The false Stanley confessed that he had taken the real Stanley’s name after the adventurer died saving him in the Mare Jivari. Jack’s innocent admiration made him confront his guilt, while Ellin reflected on the bonds she had formed and resolved to take better care of herself.

  • The false Stanley sobbed that he had survived the Mare Jivari because the real Stanley sacrificed himself to save him, and that he had used Stanley’s name to keep his memory alive.
  • Venti told Ellin that the real Stanley had died saving the false Stanley during their dangerous expedition.
  • Jack arrived with news that his parents had agreed to let him pursue adventuring, and said he wanted to keep learning from Mr. Stanley before traveling.
  • After Jack left, the false Stanley thanked Ellin and Venti for keeping his secret, then admitted that his memories of the real Stanley and their adventures had grown hazy.
  • Ellin thought about how Fischl and Noelle might suffer if she died, and resolved to take better care of herself for the sake of her friends and family.

Ch. 113Flowing Wind Played the Song of the High Heavens

Venti revealed himself to Hans Archibald and helped him reunite with Stanley’s soul, freeing Hans from the guilt and fading memories that had defined his life. After Hans left the tavern, Ellin bought wine for a friend and later found Hans looking at the moon on the bridge outside Mondstadt.

  • Hans Archibald grieved over his guilt and fading memories of Stanley until Venti called him by his real name.
  • Venti revealed himself as the Anemo Archon and offered to take care of Stanley’s soul.
  • Hans touched Venti’s hand, saw Stanley in a fiery world, and watched his old friend’s soul return to the heavens.
  • Hans thanked Venti and left the tavern, while Venti celebrated that Jack had learned to stand on his own and Stanley had found his true self.
  • Ellin bought two bottles of Special Dandelion Wine from Diluc, who gave her a discount for her friend.
  • Ellin found Hans Archibald on the bridge outside Mondstadt, gazing at the moon and gradually finding peace.

Ch. 114Stanley's Redemption

Ellin confronted Hans about his guilt over Stanley’s death and helped him understand that Stanley had sacrificed himself so Hans could live freely and pursue his future. Hans broke down in tears, beginning to face his regret after Venti had returned Stanley’s soul to High Heaven.

  • Ellin found Hans standing on the bridge outside Mondstadt City and asked what he planned to do with his future.
  • Hans admitted that he felt empty and still blamed himself for Stanley’s death, despite Stanley’s soul returning to High Heaven.
  • Ellin told Hans that her friends had not been to blame when they risked their lives to save her, and that Stanley would not have wanted Hans to live in regret.
  • Ellin reminded Hans that Stanley had valued adventure over fame and had sacrificed himself so Hans could have a bright future.
  • Hans knelt on the bridge, wept, and apologized to Stanley for letting guilt consume his life.

Ch. 115What the Anemo Archon Kept Hidden

Ellin helped Hans overcome his guilt over Stanley and find purpose in caring for Jack. After Hans recovered, Stanley’s soul finally let go and followed Venti’s wind to High Heaven.

  • Hans broke down over his years of regret, then vowed to live well and honor Stanley by caring for Jack.
  • Ellin told Hans that Stanley’s spirit lived on through the stories he had passed down to Jack and other adventurers.
  • Ellin reflected that Stanley’s soul had returned to Mondstadt long ago but had stayed beside Hans, unseen and unheard, until he recovered.
  • Stanley watched Hans laugh, thanked Ellin, and said goodbye to his friend.
  • Venti played his lyre, and Stanley followed the breeze, dissolving into starlight as he departed for High Heaven.

Ch. 116The meaning of being a bard

Ellin helped Hans find release from his grief, and he decided to honor Stanley by writing a guidebook for adventurers. Later, Ellin joined Venti atop the Statue of The Seven, where he began sharing stories from his past.

  • Ellin reflected that Hans and Stanley had found release, and that stories could guide lost souls home just as the wind could.
  • Hans stopped drinking and wrote the "Legendary Adventurer's Guide" under Stanley's name, recording their travels and advice about the Mare Jivari.
  • Ellin met Venti atop the Statue of The Seven, and he thanked her for helping Hans and Stanley find peace sooner.
  • Venti admitted that Stanley and Hans had reminded him of his own past, then joked about Jack's spoiled Apple Cider before drinking it as an offering from his people.
  • Venti asked Ellin to listen to his stories, and she brought out a bottle of Special Dandelion Wine as they sat together through the night.

Ch. 117No idea what to call this

Venti told Ellin how the wind spirit born from the Gunnhildr clan’s prayers became Barbatos and led the rebellion that freed old Mondstadt from Decarabian. The story left Venti in the present, still carrying reminders of the boy who had died fighting for freedom.

  • Venti recalled how the Gunnhildr clan left Decarabian’s wind wall and nearly perished in the blizzard before their prayers brought forth a wind spirit.
  • The wind spirit met a lyre-playing boy who yearned to see the world beyond the wall, and the two became close friends.
  • The boy led a rebellion against Decarabian, and the wind spirit joined the fight; the rebels won, but both the God of Storms and the boy died.
  • The wind spirit gained divine power, took the boy’s appearance, and became Barbatos, transforming Mondstadt into a warm land where people could live freely.
  • Barbatos withdrew from the world, while the Cecilia on Venti’s hat and the feather beneath his false Vision remained reminders of his friend.

Ch. 118Friend, Authority of Wind

Ellin promised to be Venti’s friend despite the pain of a god outliving a mortal, and the two shared a quiet moment together. Their friendship triggered a system reward and a quest to make Ellin the Anemo Archon, as she received a divine core and gained power over Anemo.

  • Venti told Ellin that he still missed his old friend and could not heal Hans or Stanley, and Ellin offered to be his friend so he would not be alone.
  • Ellin said she would try to live longer, and Venti accepted her friendship with a laugh.
  • The system declared Ellin and Barbatos close friends, unlocked inventory slots and Expedition, awarded her a wind god’s divine core, and began the quest to make her the new Anemo Archon.
  • Anemo surged from across Mondstadt City into Ellin, and her Anemo Vision shattered as a powerful vortex formed inside her body.
  • Ellin discovered that she could command Anemo without her Vision, and Venti chose not to question her secrets.

Ch. 119The promise between the sun and the wind (End of Venti's arc)

Ellin promised Venti that she would grow stronger, live longer, and stay by his side so he would never be alone. After a vision of Venti’s imagined friend faded away, Venti began singing Ellin’s heroic deeds in Mondstadt’s plaza, where a young cleric recognized the title Sun Knight.

  • Ellin promised Venti she would stay his friend and keep him from spending his life alone, then gave him her last bottle of Special Dandelion Wine.
  • A boy resembling Venti appeared and explained that he had been created from Venti’s loneliness; after blessing Venti and asking Ellin to care for him, he vanished.
  • Ellin stayed with Venti atop the Statue of The Seven until two in the morning, while Venti continued drinking in silence.
  • The next morning, Venti sang in Mondstadt’s plaza about the Sun Knight and her companions saving the Dragon, drawing a crowd and earning Mora and wine.
  • A young cleric heard Venti’s song mention the Sun Knight, recognized the name, and became excited.

Ch. 120Ellin, Make Your Debut as an Idol

After absorbing seven Artifacts, Ellin grew stronger and reassured Sucrose that their friendship remained unchanged. Jean and Barbara asked Ellin to perform with Barbara at a concert to lift Mondstadt’s spirits, and Jean urged her to make her idol debut.

  • Ellin absorbed seven Artifacts, gaining greater vitality and strength, while Feng'er said she had grown stronger too and was nearing the ability to take human form.
  • Ellin discovered Sucrose was sad because she no longer wore her Anemo Vision, then reassured her that its power had become part of her.
  • Jean summoned Ellin to the Knights of Favonius office, where Barbara explained that her singing had not been enough to lift Mondstadt’s spirits after the Dragon Disaster.
  • Jean and Barbara suggested Ellin perform with Barbara, and Jean urged her to make her debut as an idol for Mondstadt.

Ch. 121You should become an idol too, Acting Grand Master Jean

Ellin agreed to join Barbara’s performance on the condition that Acting Grand Master Jean join too, and the two persuaded Jean to accept. Barbara then told Ellin that Jean was her biological sister and explained how their growing distance had made it hard to get close to her.

  • Ellin refused Barbara’s invitation to sing and dance until Barbara apologized and reminded her how much she wanted to bring joy to Mondstadt.
  • Ellin agreed to perform if Jean joined as well, turning the request back on the Acting Grand Master.
  • Barbara and Ellin appealed to Jean’s sense of duty and Barbara called her “big sister,” persuading Jean to join them.
  • Barbara thanked Ellin and revealed that Jean was her biological sister.
  • Barbara explained that she had long wanted to earn Jean’s approval, but their family circumstances and positions had formed a barrier between them.

Ch. 122Joy as All Their Friends Take the Stage

Ellin, Barbara, and Jean organized a concert to lift Mondstadt’s spirits, with Noelle spreading the news across the city and beyond. As preparations continued, Ellin went to seek sponsorship from Diluc at the Angel’s Share.

  • Ellin and Barbara agreed to make their concert unforgettable, and the Knights of Favonius and the Church supported the preparations.
  • Lisa and Kaeya teased Jean about performing, then took over her duties so she could rehearse and spend time with her family.
  • Noelle used her connections to spread news of the concert, and a girl in Liyue decided to travel to Mondstadt to attend.
  • Jean, Amber, and the others sought advertising sponsors, but Diluc repeatedly refused the Knights’ requests for Dawn Winery support.
  • Kaeya told the group that Ellin might persuade Diluc, then watched as Ellin arrived at the Angel’s Share to speak with him.

Ch. 123Venti, Become an Idol Too

Ellin secured Diluc's sponsorship for the concert, then recruited Venti to debut as an idol by threatening to stop him from telling stories about her. Venti accepted and left with Ellin, abandoning his audience at a cliffhanger.

  • Ellin explained the concert's purpose to Diluc, who agreed to donate five million Mora as repayment for her earlier favor.
  • Kaeya teased Diluc about supporting Ellin, and Diluc charged Kaeya five hundred thousand Mora for his drinks.
  • Venti drew a large crowd in Mondstadt by telling dramatic stories about Ellin's heroic deeds.
  • Ellin confronted Venti and demanded he become an idol with her or face a ban on telling her story in the city.
  • Venti accepted, left his audience waiting for the next installment, and ran off with Ellin carrying his tips.

Ch. 124Ellin's new clothes

Ellin enlisted Klee and Albedo to develop fireworks for the concert, while her friends arranged a new outfit and completed the event preparations. With one day left, a Mondstadt organizer invited Xinyan to perform, bringing the concert lineup together.

  • Ellin asked Klee to make fireworks, and Klee agreed to work on them with her.
  • Ellin and Klee visited Albedo on Dragonspine, where he helped them develop several fireworks and promised to return for the concert if he could.
  • The Knights of Favonius began mass-producing the fireworks, while Barbara and Jean helped choose Klee's costume and Ellin's friends sought materials for a new outfit.
  • Lumine said she had recently cut down a Cryo Regisvine with Xiangling, and she and Paimon offered to help make Ellin a new concert outfit.
  • With the concert one day away, a Mondstadt organizer met Xinyan and invited her to perform her rock music onstage.

Ch. 125The concert begins, a lovely new outfit

Barbara performed at Mondstadt’s concert, but her song failed to lift the audience’s spirits, so Ellin agreed to take the stage alone. Ellin appeared in a striking outfit made by her friends, and the crowd fell silent in astonishment.

  • Mondstadt celebrated the concert with decorated streets, busy stalls, and a packed audience.
  • Barbara performed in the Sunflower Dress her mother had given her, but she left the stage disappointed that the audience remained subdued.
  • The audience called for Ellin, though Jean and the others had prepared no solo performance for her.
  • Ellin agreed to perform alone and promised Barbara she would get the crowd to listen to her voice.
  • Ellin walked onstage wearing a blue dress and accessories crafted by Fischl, Noelle, Sucrose, Lumine, Paimon, and their friends, leaving the audience speechless.

Ch. 126The Soul-Cleansing Bell Rings

Ellin overcame her lack of a prepared solo performance by using the Soul-Cleansing Bell to accompany a chant set to Mondstadt’s ancient verses. Venti joined her with his flute, and their music soothed the vast concert crowd.

  • Diluc decided to attend Ellin’s concert, claiming he wanted to watch for possible threats.
  • Ellin took the stage alone and, unsure what to sing, chose to chant Mondstadt’s ancient verses to the Bu Xu Melody.
  • Ellin rang the Soul-Cleansing Bell, whose chimes calmed the spectators and drew astonished reactions from Venti and the others backstage.
  • Ellin channeled Anemo and began chanting, creating an otherworldly melody that quieted the crowd.
  • Venti joined Ellin with his flute, and their combined music carried calm through the audience.
