Background / History
Research Institute
Si Ang was Test Subject No. 110 at the Research Institute. He possessed X-Ray Vision and a concealed astral projection ability, making him the institute’s only mutated test subject with a second innate ability. Despite the researchers’ attempts to uncover that second power, he refused to reveal it and feared the consequences of using it incorrectly 182.
At three, he encountered the original Richie in the institute’s library. They spent afternoons reading separately, without forming an active friendship. Si Ang appreciated their shared interests and the presence of another reader in the otherwise lonely library. He also knew that Richie resisted the researchers’ efforts to develop his talents 83.
Adoption into the Evan Family
After leaving the institute, Si Ang was sent to an orphanage and adopted by the president of the People’s Parliament. His adoptive father, Merson Evan, was described as the second most powerful man in Westalis, below Donovan Desmond 82 83.
The adoption did not provide the affectionate family Si Ang wanted. His father imposed harsh demands and punished disobedience cruelly, while his mother paid him little attention. He developed claustrophobia and learned to communicate through commands rather than affection 95.
Si Ang rarely saw his father and initially attended Eden as a day student with a dedicated chauffeur. Later, he described himself as a boarding student who preferred school to his largely empty home 82 148. He feared that his parents could replace him with another adopted child and envied the Forger family’s concern for Richie 155 159.
Life in Richie’s World
After Richie departed, Si Ang used astral projection to follow him. He arrived in the United States in winter 2018, entering the body of a six-year-old homeless boy who had died in the snow. The arrival placed him in the correct world but at an unexpected time and location, with a language he could not understand 182.
He survived on the streets and eventually fought a vicious dog to the death. An elderly man who witnessed his determination took him in, treated his injuries, and raised him as the heir to his estate. Si Ang learned the local language and studied relentlessly, keeping his search for Richie as his central motivation 182.
At sixteen, he began working from the bottom of the old man’s company while continuing his education. At eighteen, he visited Richie’s home in China but failed to find him. After five years of company experience, he became its heir and took charge at twenty-one; his benefactor had by then died of natural causes 182.
Si Ang subsequently moved to China, intended to relocate the company headquarters, and accepted an honorary professorship at Trade and Economics University. He had studied Chinese alongside English and became fluent enough to be mistaken for a native speaker 182.
Appearance
Si Ang is blond, with a handsome face, fair skin, and an often cold or aloof expression 55 82 147 177.
- Childhood demeanor: Small in stature but poised and intimidating, with manners that make him seem older than six 49 82 83.
- Real-world body: The six-year-old body he enters has delicate, beautiful features, which please him because he hopes Richie will like his appearance 182.
- Adult build: Taller than Richie, with long legs, broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a muscular physique that appears lean in clothing 185 188.
- Return side story: Becomes physically six again, with soft, chubby cheeks that Richie repeatedly pinches 189.
Personality
Si Ang’s reserve and pride conceal insecurity and a strong desire for affection. He struggles to admit concern directly: when he volunteers to tutor an injured Richie, he claims that Henry sent him rather than acknowledging his own worry 82 83. Richie’s rejection forces him to recognize that his domineering behavior has hurt the person he wanted to approach 84.
His upbringing strongly shapes his behavior. Having learned his father’s commands rather than healthy communication, he often tries to establish closeness through control. Richie describes him as intensely possessive, territorial, and protective of his friends 95 162. This continues into adulthood, when he controls much of Richie’s daily life before Richie has agreed to a relationship 188.
His devotion can be caring or coercive. He carries Richie when he cannot walk, seeks medical help for him, and shields him during a storm; he also threatens Anya to force Richie’s cooperation and orders the torture of Nason in retaliation for Richie’s suffering 50 115 151 172 175. Despite his imposing manner, he becomes tearful when rejected or when he believes he has endangered Richie 84 150.
Abilities & Skills
X-Ray Vision
His primary innate ability reveals a person’s internal physical condition and the soul within their body 83 138 182.
- Confirms Richie’s two broken ribs and checks for additional injuries 83.
- Recognizes that the soul occupying Richie’s body differs from the one he knew at the institute 83.
- Tracks the deterioration of Richie’s organs, including their worsening condition after the sports meet 148.
- Examines his own wounded arm and determines that the cut has not reached the bone 151.
- Provides diagnostic information, not a cure; Si Ang still seeks medicine and professional treatment for Richie 148 175 179.
Astral Projection
Si Ang’s hidden second innate ability can be used only once. He keeps it secret from both the researchers and Richie 182.
- Uses it to leave his original world and reach Richie’s world 182.
- His soul enters a deceased six-year-old boy’s body; his original body is subsequently reported dead without an apparent medical cause 181 182.
- Cannot guarantee the destination beforehand, which is why he avoids telling Richie and risking an endless wait for him 182.
- The later return to the Spy x Family world happens suddenly; it is not attributed to a second use of this ability 189.
Memory Concealment
Si Ang preserves the information needed to find Richie despite apparently submitting to memory alteration 180 182.
- Consults Twilight about resisting hypnosis and concealing memories 179.
- Memorizes Richie’s real-world name, address, and appearance before the final hypnosis 178 182.
- Opens his consciousness willingly and pretends to lose his memories, concealing his plan from Richie 180 182.
- Is not generally immune to hypnosis: Richie previously puts him to sleep during the sports meet 145.
Music and Literary Interests
- Violin: Performs during Eden’s auditions. His music, combined with his thoughts, allows Richie to perceive his childhood fear and loneliness 95.
- Reading: Regularly visits the institute’s library as a child and later tutors Richie using Pride and Prejudice 83 84.
- Lyrics: Asks permission to write lyrics for Richie’s tune, receiving Richie’s enthusiastic agreement 154.
Physical, Academic, and Professional Skills
- Carries Richie out of the music classroom and later up a mountain when Richie’s strength fails 98 172.
- Becomes an excellent fighter as an adult; Richie acknowledges that he cannot defeat him physically 188.
- Learns English and Chinese after transmigrating, eventually speaking Chinese fluently 182.
- Gains five years of practical company experience before taking charge and becoming an honorary university professor 182.
- Distinguishes Cui Yang’s voice when he answers attendance under two different names 185.
- Despite studying diligently at Eden, places immediately below Anya in the midterm rankings 163.

- Adoptive mother — Gives him little attention, contributing to his disappointment in family life 95.

- Twilight / Loid Forger — Welcomes him into the family home and considers his connection to the Evan Family useful. Si Ang later seeks his psychiatric advice about hypnosis 82 116 179.

- Henry — Teacher who praises his voluntary tutoring and later takes him to the infirmary after his mountain ordeal 82 159.
- Grandmother — Shelters both boys during the storm, treats his injury, and hosts them at her bamboo house 152 154 157.
- Elderly real-world benefactor — Rescues him after his fight with a dog, raises him as an heir, and gives him the opportunity to build a professional life 182.
