Scripture Student and Cultivation Partner

Ying Jiaren studies at the Drowning Dao Lower Court’s Scripture Repository. Her decision to continue scripture study leaves her behind her intake—and several later intakes—in beginning a Fundamental Method. By the time she obtains her First-Rank Dao Seal, however, she views that foundation as essential to controlling her own destiny 50 61 82.

Before her seal mastery, several people pressure her to begin Dharma Refining and become a Dao companion. Even a man from her hometown who professed devotion to her tries to have her cultivate a Yin-Yang Union method so he can offer her to a powerful cultivator. She subsequently kills several former suitors who had tried to coerce her 82 113.

Wang Quan invites her to practice Beautiful Lady Yu as a means of accelerating scripture comprehension. Their partnership expands into joint cultivation, evil cleansing, resource sharing, and mutual support. She later diverts money from her own expensive practices into the Thirty-Six Great Halls, increasing resource production for his Foundation Establishment Dao Platform 82 113 206. He credits her help with reducing his Foundation Establishment preparations from an expected twenty or thirty years to a little over ten 217.

Ninth Legion and Bitter Cold City

After their separation, Ying Jiaren reaches Bitter Cold City in the Far Northern Land and commands its Ninth Legion. In a city with seventy or eighty thousand legions ranked by strength, her legion’s placement and fearless fighting earn both loyalty from its members and dread from rival forces 329 330.

Chaotic time and blocked access to other worlds initially prevent her from contacting Wang Quan. Once communication becomes possible, he finds her after seven months of messages. Although she visits him in Stone City, she intends to retain her northern foothold and control a city of her own 329 330.

On returning, she discovers that another commander has taken the Ninth Legion. Rather than fight to reclaim it, she turns toward developing the city itself. She exchanges her Dao Seal Cultivators for 1.2 million Orthodox Cultivators and organizes them into rotating teams to cultivate spirit soil, refine veins, and establish ten mulberry trees 338.

Within two months, her experimental hundred-mu area develops soil ten meters deep and a stable internal cycle. The trees gradually wear away destructive elemental forces without continuous outside support. Her safer development model wins popular backing, while rival legion leaders contest her control of manpower through spell duels 338 352 354.

Spreading Foundational Development

Ying Jiaren helps cities across the polar regions connect the Present World with the Underworld and adopt Wang Quan’s development methods. Over years of travel, she establishes eight model cities; by her account, almost one-tenth of the extreme regions’ cities begin following this approach 385 422.

Her ambitions also extend into the Second-Layer World. Rather than pursue ever-higher layers, she wants to develop the second layer into a place resembling the Main World, eventually establishing a city, an empire, and a continent there 423.

Forced Territorial Expansion

Her later rule becomes openly coercive. When Wang Quan asks her to expand toward his territory, she demands an advance of ten thousand li each day. Failure carries the threatened execution of one in every hundred inhabitants other than Dao Seal Cultivators, followed by refinement into zombies and Human Sovereign Banners 638.

She rejects objections to the campaign, declares her authority supreme within Bitter Cold City, and challenges dissenting Dao Seal Cultivators to fight her. When none accepts, she makes them military overseers and orders every living being not required to keep the city running into territorial expansion 639 640.

Historical Fragments and Extended Seclusion

During the Liu Yong Historical Fragment, Ying Jiaren attacks the anchor point with a finger driven into his forehead and breaks it off inside him. She later receives an overwhelming share of the credit for his death; the resulting legends strengthen her foundations for Golden Core and Divine Ability refinement 532 693.

After returning, she and Wang Quan receive unique scriptures and protection from divination. They exchange their rewards so both can cultivate Foundation Establishment and Purple Mansion methods 541.

In a later fragment centered on Yang Fan, Wang Quan enters to find her rather than wait for her return. She is alive and participating in the repeated capture and exploitation of the anchor point. The fragment resets every hundred years, allowing prolonged collection of materials and Divine Ability refinement 728 729 731.

She remains in seclusion to close the gap between their foundations and prepare to face the Era Cataclysm alongside him. By their later reunion, she reports complete Golden Core spell and Divine Ability mastery. She plans a few more resets to organize her gains before returning to the Mortal World 736 833 834.

Appearance

Ying Jiaren has an oval face and waist-length white hair. Her expression and bearing become notably cold and aloof by the time she masters her First-Rank Dao Seal; she attributes her changed hair color only to a “small problem” 82.

Personality

Ying Jiaren’s pursuit of strength is rooted in resistance to coercion. She believes others dared to exploit her because she was weak, and treats her Dao Seal and scripture learning as the means to secure personal independence. Competitive and self-reliant, she refuses an escort for her first evil-cleansing expedition and wants to accomplish anything Wang Quan can do—preferably better 82 121 338.

Her reserve does not prevent attachment. She offers to save money for Wang Quan’s Foundation Establishment, studies the Wind of Hysteria partly to help him, and refuses to replace him with another Beautiful Lady Yu partner. Nevertheless, she explicitly dismisses belief in love and is possessive toward women she considers potential rivals 174 207 330 449 657.

Her concern for others is highly selective. Early agricultural development protects workers from service as cannon fodder, and she hopes martial artists’ descendants will escape the New Method. Later, she treats vast numbers of inhabitants as expendable, threatening mass execution to fulfill Wang Quan’s territorial plans 338 489 638 639 640.

Her Fundamental Method converts Sandalwood Incense smoke into Dharma Power and also excels at Spirit Refining 86 113.
