Background / History

Bing Jiu was originally known as Ning Jiujiu. After her apparently worthless tower Martial Soul reformed into the Clear Sky Pagoda, Qian Daoliu recognized its extraordinary nature and offered her the position of Spirit Hall Saintess. Bibi Dong gave her the name Bing Jiu, while Qian Daoliu promised to train her. Her resentment toward Ning Fengzhi and Ning Rongrong became a central motive for joining Spirit Hall. 3

Over the following six years, Bing Jiu became Spirit Hall's youngest Soul Elder and reformed its branch administration with severe efficiency. She executed 158 corrupt Purple-Robed Bishops and lower-ranking offenders, while nine Black- and Red-Robed Bishops were investigated and executed by Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo. Under her administration, capable personnel were promoted and Spirit Hall's strength expanded across both empires. 6

She was sent to the Heaven Dou Empire as Spirit Hall's diplomatic representative and later received the title of Crown Princess from Emperor Xue Ye. 7 12 While there, she used her Saintess authority, Papal Decree, and political position to influence the imperial court, Spirit Hall personnel, and the academy world. 13 16

Bing Jiu eventually formed the Sacred Team and established the Divine Punishment Legion, initially described as a force of one thousand Soul Saint-level experts or above. She intended for the team to command the Legion after completing intensive training. 80

After Spirit Hall conquered Heaven Dou and Star Luo, Bing Jiu became one of the central figures in the emerging Spirit Hall Empire. She also directed Spirit Hall's Soul Guidance Device development and used advanced devices produced by Lou Gao's research division. 132 137 138

Appearance

Bing Jiu is described as exceptionally beautiful, with silver-white hair and blood-red eyes. Her appearance changed enough from Ning Jiujiu's childhood identity that most people did not recognize her immediately. 24 39

Bing Jiu is calculating, politically capable, and highly conscious of status and power. She combines public generosity with ruthless methods, using compensation and respect to recruit Lou Gao while executing corrupt Spirit Hall officials without hesitation. 5 6

She is deeply distrustful of those who attempt to manipulate her, particularly Yu Xiaogang and Tang San. She can feign vulnerability to mislead opponents, then return immediately to a cold and composed demeanor. 20 Her revenge against the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect initially stems from her childhood abandonment, though she later states that she no longer hates Ning Fengzhi personally. 39 104

Despite her severity, Bing Jiu is affectionate toward Bibi Dong, Chuan, and several companions. Her relationship with Bibi Dong develops into a genuine mother-daughter bond, and she publicly uses Spirit Hall resources to support civilians, including a one-year tax reduction after returning with the Divine Punishment Legion. 6 117
