Background / History

Thor is Gaea's biological son, but Frigga adopts him because Asgard's eldest son and heir must be born of the primary wife. Odin intends him to inherit his role; Asgard's continued survival requires a successor who can establish a contract with Yggdrasil 544 1833.

Approximately eleven hundred years before his conversation with Deathstroke, Thor led twenty Asgardian warriors against Frost Giants terrorizing a village on Iceland's western coast. After defeating the giants, he remained for four days of feasting, drinking, and sexual conquests. The discovery of a decapitated god interrupted the celebrations. Following the god's blood across the sea, Thor reached the Vana River, found two more headless gods, and fought a pale, noseless figure carrying an enormous black sword. Thor lost, describing the enemy as stronger than Surtur 1163.

Thor's early confidence frequently becomes recklessness. Against Surtur's lava hounds, he dismisses the enemy and declares Asgard invincible, only to suffer a crushing defeat inside the volcano. Deathstroke considers him susceptible to almost any scam that is not excessively illogical 554 621.

He is generous to his companions and increasingly values the meaning behind his actions. By his return from Vanaheim, he supports his friends through hunting and battle and places importance on fair trade. His mortal experiences also make him question whether heroes should profit from helping others 1011 1750.

Thor becomes more analytical after years in Sakaar's arena, openly acknowledging his own shortcomings and learning to compare allies' and enemies' strengths. His courage remains intact: during Ragnarök, he accepts his predicted death rather than abandon Asgard.
