After waking in an unfamiliar parallel-world bedroom, Fang Xiu realized he had transmigrated into another man’s body and briefly saw a warning written in blood-red letters. When a beautiful woman appeared and called him her husband, he discovered she was absent from his new memories and asked who she was, prompting her to exclaim that he could see her.

  • Fang Xiu noticed the woman’s smile never changed and asked who she was.
  • The woman’s smile widened grotesquely as she exclaimed, “You can see me!”

  • Fang Xiu punched his wife, broke his hand, and was eaten alive as she bit off his arm.

Ch. 3You can see me!

After dying again, Fang Xiu kept his eyes shut to avoid acknowledging his wife, a supernatural entity, and used the quiet to study his memories and plan his escape. When he finally opened his eyes and found the bedroom empty, his wife appeared from inside the pillow beneath him.

  • Fang Xiu cursed at his wife and charged her, but she killed him again.
  • On his fourth attempt, Fang Xiu kept his eyes closed and ignored his wife as she tried to wake him.
  • Fang Xiu reasoned that his wife might be unable to touch him until she knew he could see her, then reviewed his memories and learned this world had many supernatural rumors.
  • After waiting until he urgently needed to pee, Fang Xiu slowly opened his eyes and found the bedroom empty.
  • Fang Xiu decided to pee in the trash can, but his wife’s face emerged from the pillow beneath him and told him he could see her.

Ch. 4Hehe, My Wife Is So Good to Me

After dying eighteen times while trying to ignore his wife, Fang Xiu regained his composure through hatred and finally escaped their home. He stepped into the sunlight outside, only to freeze at the sight of the world and wonder if he had entered hell.

  • The little girl transformed into a huge flesh anomaly and raised a bone club to strike Fang Xiu.
  • Fang Xiu declared that all the anomalies must die, and the little girl smashed him into a pulp.

Ch. 6Never Respond!

Fang Xiu explored Green Vine City to study the eerie creatures and decided to visit his former workplace to collect unpaid commission. He theorized that the creatures tried to become part of people’s lives so they could make humans perceive them, and concluded that people should never respond to their signals.

  • Fang Xiu ignored the creatures around him as he rode a shared bicycle through the city to study them.
  • After seeing a message from manager Wu Dahai, Fang Xiu decided to quit and collect the commission owed for a villa sale.
  • Fang Xiu told the work group chat he would visit Hundred Willows Academy that afternoon, then closed the chat and rode toward the sales office.
  • As he traveled, Fang Xiu observed that some creatures attacked without reason while humanoid creatures acted like people’s coworkers, classmates, and relatives.
  • Fang Xiu theorized that humanoid creatures tried to integrate into people’s lives to make them perceive their existence and eventually become vulnerable to attack.
  • Fang Xiu concluded that people should never respond when they heard a voice or sensed an eerie creature.

Ch. 7The Suddenly Appearing Psychiatric Hospital

He searched for the director’s office but found that its location overlapped with the academy’s sales office, where he worked.

  • Fang Xiu realized that Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital and Hundred Willows Academy occupied the same space, with the hospital intangible unless certain conditions were met.
  • Fang Xiu entered the hospital through a wall and explored its bloodstained halls, encountering a featureless girl in Ward 104 and numerous hostile supernatural entities in other wards.
  • Fang Xiu found Wards 162, 169, and 177 open and empty, suggesting their entities had escaped.
  • Fang Xiu discovered a bloodstained medical report describing a failed supernatural transformation and spotted a monstrous female doctor watching him from the ceiling.
  • Fang Xiu searched the administrative area for the director’s office and found that it overlapped with Hundred Willows Academy’s sales office.

Ch. 9The sales office and the director's office

Fang Xiu searched the sales office for the psychiatric hospital director’s office, ignoring Wu Dahai’s attempts to stop him. He found Wang Ziteng and Li Feifei in the office, where a sheet of parchment lay on the desk, and Wu Dahai tried to explain away Fang Xiu’s intrusion.

  • Fang Xiu arrived at the sales office, dismissed Zhao Hao’s warning, and headed upstairs to search for the hospital’s administrative area.

Ch. 10Want to know the truth about this world?

  • Zhang Bo screamed and fell in the darkness after going to check the power, and Zhao went to investigate but did not return.

Ch. 11Ghost Domain

  • Fang Xiu believed Wang Ziteng and realized that Spirit Tamers might be able to see and fight Ghosts.
  • Wang Ziteng ordered everyone to stay together, avoid moving or touching things, and inspect their surroundings for anything unusual.
  • As the employees began doubting him and considering leaving, a calm voice announced that the Ghost had appeared.

Ch. 12Spirit Tamer

Fang Xiu and his coworkers discovered that a ghost was making people disappear in the darkness, while Wang Ziteng explained how people became Spirit Tamers. Fang Xiu reasoned that becoming a Spirit Tamer might offer him a path to revenge, just as another person vanished.

  • Fang Xiu told his coworkers that Wang Xiaoli had disappeared, and they discovered she was gone.
  • Wang Ziteng suspected Fang Xiu was a Spirit Tamer and explained that Spirit Tamers awakened their Spirituality by enduring a near-death ordeal and letting a ghost's power invade their minds.
  • Fang Xiu wondered whether Death Rollback was his unique ability, then concluded that he had not awakened his Spirituality because his contact with ghosts had been undone by the rollback.
  • Fang Xiu connected the Ghost Domain, the unseen ghost, and Spirit Tamers, and saw becoming a Spirit Tamer as a chance for revenge.
  • Fang Xiu noticed that another person had disappeared.

Ch. 13Say One More Word, and I'll Kill You!

After Jia Liang disappeared, Fang Xiu deduced the Ghost was taking people at timed intervals and went into the darkness to find an escape. He and Zhao Hao reached Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital, which Fang Xiu realized had become physically real and swallowed the sales office.

  • Jia Liang disappeared, and Fang Xiu estimated that the Ghost killed one person every two or three minutes.
  • Fang Xiu left to search for a way out and threatened to kill Wang Ziteng if he tried to stop him; Zhao Hao followed.
  • Another person disappeared, so Wang Ziteng and the remaining coworkers decided to follow Fang Xiu.
  • Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao walked through an unnaturally long corridor until they found an eerie green light.
  • Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao entered the dilapidated corridor of Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital, and Fang Xiu realized the hospital had physically overlapped with reality.

  • Wang Ziteng and the other coworkers fled as the female doctor approached, leaving Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao behind with Li Feifei.
  • The female doctor killed Li Feifei with her scalpel, dismembered her, and began eating her.
  • Fang Xiu inferred that the Ghost killed one nearby person at a time, then punched her and found that her body was as hard as steel.
  • Fang Xiu told Zhao Hao that they were safest while the Ghost was eating and said he wanted to stay near her to absorb her power.
  • Fang Xiu reached out and stroked the female doctor’s icy, spider-like legs while Zhao Hao trembled nearby.

Ch. 16Silicone

Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao tried to escape the Female Physician in Green Mountain Psychiatric Hospital, but Fang Xiu died after mistaking Li Feifei’s silicone implants for real flesh. Death Rollback returned him to the moment he touched the Ghost, and he led Zhao Hao toward the stairs, where they encountered Wang Ziteng’s group trapped in a looping stairwell.

  • Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao touched the Female Physician’s leg, then ran when their time was up.
  • The Female Physician caught Fang Xiu after Li Feifei’s body vanished, revealing that her breasts and buttocks had been silicone, and killed him.

  • Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao ran downstairs and met Wang Ziteng’s group, who said they had descended more than twenty floors.
  • Wang Ziteng suspected Ghost Hitting the Wall, and the group dropped objects as markers before finding those same objects again on the stairs.

Ch. 17Ghost Hitting the Wall

Fang Xiu found a way out of Ghost Hitting the Wall by feeling along the stairwell wall until an iron door appeared. The group fled through it, but the female doctor caught up as they reached a fork, and she attacked the person at the rear.

  • Wang Ziteng urged everyone to awaken their Spirituality, while Fang Xiu searched the stairwell wall for a way out.
  • Fang Xiu felt a change in the wall and opened an iron door; Wang Ziteng and the others rushed through after him.
  • Fang Xiu ran near the back of the group, knowing other Ghosts might be loose in the hospital and hoping the female doctor would give him another chance to awaken his Spirituality.
  • At a fork in the corridor, Fang Xiu chose the right passage, and the group followed him.
  • The female doctor appeared upside down on the ceiling and lashed her hair toward the last person in the group.

Ch. 18Human nature

Fang Xiu led the survivors into a dead-end storage room while fleeing the female doctor, but he remained calm, planning to use Death Rollback and try another route. Wang Ziteng blamed Fang Xiu and shoved him toward the Ghost, hoping to sacrifice him so the others could escape.

  • Wu Dahai pulled someone behind him as they fled, and the female doctor decapitated that person.
  • The survivors reached a dining hall and followed a corridor to a dead end, then crowded into a storage room.
  • Fang Xiu decided to trigger Death Rollback and take the other route, while Wang Ziteng and Wu Dahai blamed him for their predicament.
  • Wang Ziteng proposed sacrificing one person to distract the Ghost and shoved Fang Xiu, calling on the others to help him.
  • Zhao Hao charged at Wang Ziteng to protect Fang Xiu, and Wang Ziteng called on Wu Dahai for help.

Ch. 19I'm Saving Your Lives

After being decapitated by the female doctor, Fang Xiu rolled back and repeated his escape route, then used his knowledge of the Ghost’s timing to prepare for its arrival. He injured Wang Ziteng and Wu Dahai so they could not flee, explaining that he was saving everyone and keeping a spare.

  • Fang Xiu watched Wang Ziteng and Wu Dahai barricade the storeroom door, then the female doctor appeared and decapitated him as Wang Ziteng fled.
  • Fang Xiu rolled back, repeated his earlier actions with Zhao Hao, and led the group to the exit after breaking through the ghost hitting the wall.
  • At the fork, Fang Xiu told the others the Ghost would appear in one minute, but said he had one more thing to do before leaving.
  • Fang Xiu kicked Wang Ziteng in the crotch, leaving him unable to move, and said that would ensure the Ghost killed him instead of someone else.
  • Fang Xiu kicked Wu Dahai the same way, then explained he was keeping Wu Dahai as a spare.

Ch. 20The Taste of Revenge

Fang Xiu killed Wang Ziteng and used contact with the female doctor to try to ignite his Spirituality, while explaining to Zhao Hao why he had attacked. The chapter ended with Fang Xiu continuing to touch the Ghost's thigh after Wu Dahai was killed, hoping to awaken his Spirituality before time ran out.

Ch. 21The Most Suitable Ability

Fang Xiu ignited a small portion of his Spirituality and discovered that his Heart's Reflection Power let him inflict the pain of his past deaths on others. He was thrilled by the ability, while Zhao Hao watched him react.

  • Fang Xiu followed the chilling qi into his mind and saw it gather in the form of a hazy heart.
  • A corner of the heart shed its dust, and the eerie aura fused with its black light to ignite Fang Xiu's Spirituality.
  • Fang Xiu found that his senses, reaction speed, and control over his body had greatly improved.
  • Fang Xiu learned that his Heart's Reflection Power could make an attacked target experience the pain he had suffered in his deaths.
  • Fang Xiu laughed with excitement, and Zhao Hao asked whether he had succeeded.

Ch. 22The Scalpel

Fang Xiu tested his newly awakened Spirituality against the female doctor Ghost, discovered the Scalpel’s power depended on Spirituality, and fled with Zhao Hao and two coworkers. The female doctor caught him on a staircase and killed him.

  • Fang Xiu struck the female doctor with a punch charged with Spirituality, hurting her but exhausting his power without causing serious damage.
  • Fang Xiu picked up the dropped Scalpel and saw visions revealing that it had been used to experiment on Ghosts and had driven the doctor mad.
  • Fang Xiu tried to cut the doctor with the Scalpel, realized it needed Spirituality to work, and ran to rejoin Zhao Hao.
  • Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao met two coworkers in a hall with four doors, then fled through the western door when the doctor pursued them.
  • The female doctor caught Fang Xiu on the stairs, pinned him down, and bit into his neck, killing him.

Ch. 23Exit

Fang Xiu used repeated death rollbacks to evade the Female Physician and lead Zhao Hao and the others toward the hospital’s Exit. The Female Physician fled when she saw the sign, leaving Fang Xiu wary of the passage beyond it as he rested before investigating.

  • Fang Xiu replayed his previous choices, discovered that the eastern route led to the Exit, and used repeated deaths to learn how to evade the Female Physician.
  • On his ninth rollback, Fang Xiu led Zhao Hao and the other two through the eastern door while dodging the Female Physician’s attacks.
  • Fang Xiu reached the Exit sign, and the Female Physician shrieked in fear and fled when she saw it.
