Background / History

Childhood and the desire for recognition

Naruto’s parents died protecting Konoha on the day he was born. Naruto refused the Five Kage’s request to stay away from the battlefield as an Akatsuki target. He argued that, with his new strength, he could not remain protected while his comrades fought. Personality

His optimism does not mean that his grief disappears. After meeting his parents, he cries and then regains his usual confidence while keeping the sadness within himself. Su Yu’s reassurance that his childhood suffering was not his fault is particularly meaningful to him 172 174.

Naruto values effort and rejects resignation. He endures exhausting training without resenting Su Yu, challenges Neji’s belief in immutable fate, and confronts Sasuke when grief threatens to consume him. His support can be blunt: he punches Sasuke to make him stop avoiding his feelings, then offers him a hand 175 201 213.
