Medici claimed Lilith had died when Cheek achieved apotheosis, leaving Edward shaken and uncertain about the Lilith he had met in the future.

Edward failed to locate Lilith through Sefirah Castle, while the Tarot Club learned that he and Lilith could not attend the gathering. Audrey grew concerned when she could not summon Edward’s messenger and set out to ask an angel who might know where he was.

• Klein told the Tarot Club that Edward and Lilith were safe but unable to attend, then read Roselle’s diary pages about an invitation to another transmigrator and Roselle’s later life.
• Audrey tried and failed to summon Edward’s messenger, then found that the Vanishing Cabinet could not help her reach him.
• Audrey reassured herself that Edward was merely trapped somewhere, then left to seek an angel who might know his whereabouts.

After exploring Sefirah Castle and finding Zhou Mingrui in a cocoon, Edward considered how to use the castle and devised a three-part prayer formula to identify himself. He planned to test it on someone, while Bernadette unexpectedly began sneezing.

• Edward learned that Sefirah Castle could absorb much of the cost of [Lunatic on the Right] when he used it on targets inside the castle.
• Edward found Zhou Mingrui hanging in a transparent cocoon and decided not to release him, saying they would meet in two hundred years.
• Edward considered bringing people into Sefirah Castle and worked out the prayer formula, “The Eternal Ruler above dimensions, the Deconstructor of Endless Stories, the Transcender of Past and Future.”
• Edward decided to find a “lucky spectator” to test whether the formula would point to him.
• Bernadette sneezed repeatedly while eating, and Matilda checked whether she had a fever.

Roselle wondered whether the suspected transmigrator would appear, while Bernadette hid her encounters with Edward from her father. Edward then gave Bernadette a three-line invocation to contact him, leaving her with a way to call on him in the future.

• Bernadette found herself back in her bedroom after reciting Edward’s prayer and decided to ask Uncle Edwards what the words meant.
• Edward entered Sefirah Castle, heard Bernadette’s prayer, and realized he could use the Castle to receive and answer prayers directed at him.
• Edward decided to seek a way into the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery and find Arrodes.
• Adolf’s Dream Divination of Edward’s Pinocchio doll showed him a frightening vision and caused a nosebleed; he warned Roselle that the doll’s owner was at least a half-god.

Edward realized he was still trapped in the year 1160 and began settling in Trier while searching for Lilith and the ingredients needed to advance. After renting a villa at 7 Rose Street, he prepared to test [Homecoming] by traveling to Calderón City in the Spirit World.

• Audrey learned from Will that Edward had vanished in a way unlike death, and she hoped he had used [Homecoming] to return to Hogwarts.
• Edward accepted that he remained trapped in the past and planned to digest his potion, find Lilith, and seek two Sequence 3 Beyonder Characteristics.
• Edward traveled to the Opera Borough and rented a supposedly haunted villa at 7 Rose Street after confirming it was safe.
• Edward cleaned and redecorated the villa, then decided to test [Homecoming] by going to Calderón City in the Spirit World.

Edward searched for Phoenix in the Spirit World and left a Wand at the collapsed wall, where Phoenix later found it and transformed into an egg before disappearing. Back in Trier, Edward failed to get a response to his newspaper notices, learned Elvish and gained Tyrant Pathway abilities, then went looking for a butler and learned that his villa had been the site of a gruesome mass killing; Ailand began arranging introductions to other homes and butlers.

• Edward visited Calderón City in spirit form, found no Phoenix, and left a Wand beside the collapsed wall before returning to Trier.
• After Edward departed, Phoenix emerged from the tributary of the River of Eternal Darkness, found the Wand, became a black egg, then turned to liquid and vanished into the ground.
• Edward placed notices seeking a small black female cat in Trier and Backlund, but received no information; he studied Elvish and absorbed Sequence 2 Tyrant Pathway abilities from the Book of Calamity.
• Edward went to Trier’s hiring district seeking a butler and told Ailand that he wanted access to the city’s aristocratic circles.

Edward met Dubois de Lorraine, a disgraced noble and former priest who offered to become his butler, and hired him to find two workers for the house at 7 Rose Street. Edward’s divination revealed that Dubois was mainly seeking money and had considered sneaking into the basement to steal its valuables, leaving Edward to inspect the basement himself.

• Dubois introduced himself to Edward and offered to work as his butler in exchange for a new suit.
• Eiland told Edward that Dubois had been expelled from Trier Cathedral after sleeping with a noblewoman who had come to confess.
• Edward hired Dubois to find two workers and suspected he could help him approach Trier’s aristocratic circles and the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery.
• Edward divined that hiring Dubois would not harm him, then saw in a dream that Dubois had sought work because he was broke and hoped to steal valuables from the basement.

Edward hired two slaves and discussed Dubois’s past with him, including his former friendship with Roselle. After Dubois confessed he had planned to steal antiques and asked to become a Beyonder, Edward made him a butler and tasked him with arranging a meeting with Roselle.

• Dubois brought Endili and Aosain to Edward’s villa, and Edward accepted them as household slaves and told them to tidy the garden.
• Edward asked Dubois to choose a housekeeper, then learned that Dubois had been expelled from Trier Cathedral after sleeping with a woman Roselle wanted.
• Dubois explained that he and Roselle had once been friends, but he refused to ask Roselle for help because he would not bow his head to him.
• Dubois confessed that he had intended to steal antiques from the basement and revealed that he wanted to become a Beyonder.
• Edward agreed to make Dubois his butler and told him to arrange a chance for Edward to meet Roselle, while letting him keep the proceeds from selling the antiques as his first year's salary.

Roselle advanced to Sequence 6 Artisan and began preparing to investigate the Mysterious Silver Medallion, while Edward visited Trier Cathedral and met the young Roselle. After Bernadette recited Edward’s honorific name and asked whether he was an evil god, Edward answered her through Sefirah Castle.

• Roselle advanced to Sequence 6 Artisan, learned he could make the Mysterious Silver Medallion, and heard that the wooden stick was now ordinary.
• Edward visited Trier Cathedral, donated money, and saw Roselle Gustav leave after Roselle waved to him.
• Roselle told his subordinates to watch for progress on the Mascot matter and entered seclusion, then blamed Green for taking Bernadette’s Pinocchio doll.
• Bernadette recalled Edward’s warning about incantations, recited his three-part honorific name, and asked whether he was an evil god.

Edward rescued Reinette Tinekerr from corruption by the Mother Tree of Desire and brought her to the gray fog, where he invited her to join a future gathering. The chapter left Reinette accepting his summons and receiving the nickname Headless.

• Bernadette panicked after Edward answered her invocation, then decided to protect her parents while investigating him and admired the mermaid doll he had given her.
• Edward noticed a crimson star showing Reinette Tinekerr suffering from corruption and used Theft to remove the corruption from her body.
• Edward summoned Reinette to the gray-fog gathering place and confirmed that he had helped her because he opposed the Mother Tree of Desire.

• Reinette reflected on Edward’s mysterious nature and his remarks about fate, then ordered Sharron to help unite the Temperance Faction after the Indulgence Faction’s leaders suffered a devastating blow.
• Reinette emerged from the Spirit World to meet Klein, agreed to become his messenger, and set her fee at one gold coin per delivery.
• In 1160, Edward heard Bernadette pray to see beautiful merpeople and decided to visit her in secret.
• Edward revealed himself in Bernadette’s room and transported her into a vivid fairy-tale-like scene, which delighted her.

Edward took Bernadette on a fairy-tale voyage to search for merpeople, then returned with her to Trier. The next morning, Dubois said he was ready to try another way to reach his goal, while Edward put Endili to work as a cook and assigned Dubois to hire staff and find a new house.

• Edward brought Bernadette aboard the Black Tulip, conjured fairy-tale characters as its crew, and renamed the ship the Fairy-Tale.

Edward used the cross to enter a gathering of the Twilight Hermit Order, where he learned how its members operated and that Roselle had attracted the Russian Priest’s attention. The gathering turned to business when Hermes announced he had sensed an ancient Mind Dragon in the Sea of Collective Subconscious.

• Edward entered the Twilight Hermit Order’s gathering through the cross while protected by Sefirah Castle, and saw the Russian Priest and seven other members.
• The Russian Priest gave no instructions and left Hermes to preside, while a Hunter and a Demoness questioned Edward about joining.
• Hermes explained the Order’s purpose, its monthly gatherings, and members’ annual opportunity to view the Blasphemy Slate; Edward chose the alias Number Eight.
• A member reported that Roselle Gustav had applied to join the Army, and Hermes ordered the Order to keep watching him without intervening.
• The Hunter offered to split the spoils from a fight with the Iron and Blood Cross Order, and the Demoness mentioned a lead on an Unaging Demoness characteristic.

At a Twilight Hermit Order gathering, Edward volunteered to investigate a new resident at a Trier villa after learning Mr. Intis had hidden something beneath it. He also asked about the Dream Weaver, the Abraham Family, and Lilith, but left without clear answers.

• Hermes offered a free favor to anyone who found a clue about the Mind Dragon, and Edward suspected Ariehogg's unusual activity might relate to him.
• Mr. Intis asked the group to investigate the new resident at 7 Rose Street in Trier, where he had hidden something beneath the villa.
• Edward agreed to investigate in exchange for information about a Wanderer or Dream Weaver, and Intis offered possible Fourth Epoch ruins as payment.
• Edward confirmed that he could take whatever Intis had hidden beneath the villa and suspected it was connected to an earlier murder.

Elsewhere, Dubois stole a suit from a Trier tailor, while Bernadette woke up delighted by her previous night’s sea voyage and hoped to ask Mr. Sparrow to take her out again.

• Hermes announced plans to assassinate the Grand Duke of Loenclu, support rising nobles in Loen, and protect Roselle from the Conservatives led by Earl Clear.
• Edward returned to Sefirah Castle, pondered Adam and the Twilight Hermit Order, and divined that no one was monitoring his villa.
• Dubois took a suit he had not paid for from Old Beck’s Suit Shop, leaving its owner to face the angry customer who had ordered it.

• Edward explored the villa basement, found that two vases were missing, and used divination at Sefirah Castle to uncover a hidden entrance and a brass rod beneath the floor.
• Edward decided to investigate the brass rod later, then received Bernadette’s plea to run away from home and went to her room.
• Bernadette told Edward she believed Matilda had betrayed Roselle by going on a date with another man.
