Chapters 127–151 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 127Chaos, Misora, and blood drawing

Joey used the chaos surrounding Hisoka and Chrollo’s fight to keep Gerat trapped in Heavens Arena and create an opening to attack him. Misora confronted Joey, but he exploited her blood-drawing ability and psychological weakness, then killed her and her two companions, leaving Atikem as his next target.

  • Joey observed Hisoka and Chrollo’s chaotic fight and relied on it to keep Gerat and his bodyguards in the stands.
  • Misora and two bodyguards surrounded Joey, and Misora’s [Blood-Sucking Demon] began drawing his blood.
  • Joey replenished his blood with Gold Experience, calculated how Misora’s ability worked, and provoked her by suggesting her childhood had been unhappy.
  • Misora and the two bodyguards fired Nen bullets, but Joey’s [Weather Nen Beast] stopped and destroyed them with lightning.
  • Joey used wind to rush Misora, struck her with a flaming punch, and killed her with Killer Queen.
  • Joey killed Misora’s two companions and turned his attention to Atikem.

Ch. 128Hisoka's calculations, Gerat's composure

Joey interfered with Hisoka and Chrollo’s fight while testing Gerat’s composure and wearing down his guards. Hisoka deduced Chrollo’s location and charged toward him, but Joey’s explosion interrupted him as Gerat remained strangely calm.

  • Joey turned a phone into a bird to contact Hisoka, but Hisoka destroyed it with a severed head.
  • Hisoka analyzed Chrollo’s stolen abilities and concluded that Chrollo would hide among the stands while creating more puppets.
  • Hisoka spotted Chrollo among the stands and rushed toward him.
  • Joey repeatedly detonated First Bomb near Gerat’s guards, causing them to flee until only Gerat and Ed remained.
  • Joey noticed that Gerat showed no fear despite the attacks and realized something was wrong.

Ch. 129Chrollo's pattern of action

Hisoka realized Chrollo had hidden among the spectators by disguising himself and leaving a Black Voice-controlled double in his place. Chrollo then seized the venue’s microphone and ordered every puppet to attack Hisoka, bringing the two men into their true final clash.

  • Hisoka noticed that every puppet and the tethered head bore only the Sun mark, prompting him to deduce that Chrollo had marked them before canceling his abilities.
  • Hisoka concluded that Chrollo had disguised himself among the spectators and was controlling the apparent Chrollo with Black Voice, so he stopped pursuing the double.
  • Hisoka returned to the center of the ring and considered how quickly Chrollo could build up puppets before Heavens Arena’s staff arrived.
  • Joey appeared beside Gerat and Ed as puppets erupted throughout the venue and attacked the spectators.
  • Hisoka spotted Chrollo holding the commentator’s headset, and Chrollo broadcast the order to break Hisoka.
  • The puppets turned on Hisoka, who charged toward Chrollo to begin their true fight to the death.

Ch. 130A double, a handkerchief, and an even match

Joey confronted Gerat and learned they both came from beyond the Lake Mobius region, but Gerat killed Ed and revealed that the Gerat in the arena was a double. When Joey recognized Gerat’s deception and tried to counter his attack, the two clashed, ending with Gerat releasing a shock wave.

  • Joey asked Gerat about [Ming], and Gerat claimed they were both outsiders seeking a way home to the Dark Continent.
  • Gerat killed Ed, showed Joey his God Script handkerchief, and identified Joey’s Wallet as proof that he was a fellow weapon from the [Zolkoai Region].
  • Gerat said the man in the arena was a double and invited Joey to meet his real body; Joey deduced that the real Gerat was likely in the surveillance room.
  • Joey suspected Gerat had deliberately manipulated him into revealing the Wallet, and Killer Queen blocked Gerat’s sudden punch at the cost of its arm and Joey’s left hand.
  • Killer Queen erased Gerat’s left arm with First Bomb, but Gerat escaped the swift Joey had sent after him and struck back as Killer Queen hurled its severed hand toward him.
  • Gerat clapped his hands together and released a shock wave toward the incoming attack.

Ch. 131Gambit, ruthlessness, and support

Joey outsmarted Gerat’s blood-manipulating double and destroyed it with a bomb hidden in a Coin, then rushed to find Gerat before he could use surveillance footage to study Joey’s abilities. As Joey escaped Heavens Arena with Piyon tracking Gerat, guards confronted him outside.

  • Joey realized Gerat had used Ed’s Blood-Boiling Fist to manipulate his blood, and cut off his right arm to stop the effect from spreading.
  • Gerat’s double mistook Joey’s Mirage projection for the real Joey and touched a Coin disguised as a dragonfly, triggering the First Bomb and killing the double.
  • Joey picked up the handkerchief, destroyed the overhead cameras with Nen Bullets, and hurried toward the Surveillance Room to prevent Gerat from using the footage.
  • Joey recalled that Piyon was secretly watching Gerat and reporting his location, while Hisoka pursued Chrollo amid their ongoing Heavens Arena battle.
  • Joey used the Weather Nen Beast’s winds to force a path through the fleeing crowd and rushed out of Heavens Arena, where two Nen-using guards charged at him.

Ch. 132Shaking Free, Two Antennas, a Head

Joey escaped the Heavens Arena guards and raced toward the helipad after learning Gerat planned to flee by aircraft. Meanwhile, Hisoka and Chrollo continued their bloody battle, and Hisoka identified Chrollo’s likely hidden bomb trap as he moved to counter it.

  • Joey used a spectator, an aura bubble, and a disappearing double to evade the guards, then followed Piyon’s map toward the 230th-floor helipad.
  • An explosion plunged Heavens Arena into chaos as Joey used Weather Report’s gale-force winds to hurry toward Gerat’s escape route.
  • Hisoka fought Chrollo among the spectators and dolls, while Chrollo concealed himself and used Transfer Student to change his appearance.
  • Hisoka realized Chrollo’s antenna-controlled puppet had vanished and inferred that Chrollo was issuing short commands through his phone while keeping a second antenna in reserve.
  • Hisoka deduced that Chrollo’s true finishing bomb was a controlled human body near a severed head, then used Nen on the head as Chrollo moved toward it.

Ch. 133I predicted your prediction

Hisoka and Chrollo continued their battle in Heavens Arena, each anticipating the other’s traps as Chrollo’s controlled spectators and explosions overwhelmed Hisoka. Hisoka fell into the Arena amid a barrage of blasts, leaving his fate uncertain.

  • Hisoka used [Bungee Gum] to launch spectators at Chrollo, but Chrollo detonated a controlled spectator and blasted Hisoka with another hidden puppet.
  • Hisoka pieced together how Chrollo had transferred his Black Voice Antennas and used the spectators to set a trap.
  • Chrollo hid among the crowd while Dolls swarmed Hisoka, driving him into the air and attacking him with explosions.
  • Hisoka realized he had effectively lost and focused on surviving as Chrollo threw another spectator at him.
  • Hisoka fell toward the Arena as explosions erupted around him.

Ch. 134The Calm Gerat, the Resurrected God of War

Joey killed Gerat after failing to obtain information from him, then returned to Heavens Arena to deal with his out-of-control Chariot. There, he encountered the resurrected Hisoka, who recruited him to help watch Machi as he pursued the Phantom Troupe.

  • Joey boarded Gerat’s airship, killed the bodyguards, and annihilated Gerat after he refused to share information.
  • Joey healed his arm, disguised himself, and sent Piyon a photograph of the God Script as payment for her help.
  • Joey returned to the burning, cordoned-off venue and sensed that the severed Heartbreaker Attack Chariot was still active inside.
  • Hisoka appeared alive and asked Joey to keep an eye on Machi, and Joey sent a beetle made from a listening device toward the competitors’ lounge.
  • Joey followed Hisoka toward Shalnark and Kortopi while texting Mizaistom and considering whether he could profit from Hisoka’s condition.

Ch. 135Equivalent exchange, guidance, and payment

Joey negotiated with Hisoka for the bodies of two Phantom Troupe members in exchange for healing him and helping him locate Machi, then arranged their sale to Mizaistom. After destroying his severed hand inside Heavens Arena, Joey received his first payment and planned to register there under his real identity once he dealt with Gerat.

  • Joey refused to explain how he knew Hisoka's abilities, then agreed to heal Hisoka in exchange for two Phantom Troupe members' bodies and a chance to guide him to Machi.
  • Hisoka killed Kortopi and Shalnark, and Joey took their bodies and directed Machi toward the police station while sending her location to Mizaistom.
  • Mizaistom's people collected the bodies, and Joey returned to Heavens Arena to destroy his severed hand before leaving unnoticed.
  • The next morning, Joey received ten million from Mizaistom for information on Machi and learned the bounties for Shalnark and Kortopi were still being processed.
  • Joey planned to register as a Heavens Arena competitor under his real name after dealing with Gerat.

Ch. 136Joey and Hisoka

Joey met Hisoka at a hotel and treated the severe injuries left by his battle with Chrollo, while keeping his own identity and abilities guarded. After discussing a possible journey to the Dark Continent, Joey left Hisoka with the prospect of working together once they were aboard a ship.

  • Joey found Illumi Zoldyck with Hisoka, and Illumi gave him a Zoldyck Family business card before leaving.
  • Hisoka removed Texture Surprise to reveal his mangled face, missing arm and leg, and other injuries, then cut away damaged tissue himself.
  • Joey used his ability to restore Hisoka’s body, and Hisoka praised the power and questioned Joey about his other abilities.
  • Joey asked whether Hisoka would go to the Dark Continent and proposed him as a potential partner; Hisoka agreed to discuss it once they were aboard a ship.
  • Joey offered to treat Hisoka for five hundred million Jenny per session, while Hisoka cut away his burned skin to see Joey’s power again.

Ch. 137152 Jenny, a promise, and Conjuration

Joey returned to Heavens Arena to train and earn money while developing his Nen abilities, and quickly advanced through the lower floors. He reunited with Wing and Zushi, then considered studying Gerat’s handkerchief to develop Conjuration while keeping his focus on Killer Queen and Weather Report.

  • Joey registered at Heavens Arena and easily won his preliminary match by pushing his opponent out of the ring.
  • Joey met Wing and Zushi in the elevator, and Wing advised him to be cautious before accepting Joey’s challenge for a future match.
  • Joey collected his 152 Jenny prize and won his 50th-floor fight by sending his opponent into the spectator stands.
  • Joey reflected that En prevented his released Nen from functioning at a distance, limiting his plans for ranged abilities.
  • Joey examined Gerat’s Nen-infused handkerchief and decided to study it for possible Conjuration abilities, while prioritizing Killer Queen and Weather Report.

Ch. 138[Brion] and Nen Beast Speculation

Joey reviewed Gerat’s revelations and speculated that [Ming] and the [Weapons] were connected to [Brion] and Kakin’s plans for the Dark Continent. He also examined how Nen Beasts were created and questioned whether a hidden [Weapon] soul was influencing his growing desire to board the expedition ship.

  • Joey recorded Gerat’s revelations and concluded that [Ming] might be seeds produced by [Brion], while Kakin could be helping [Weapons] return to the Dark Continent aboard the [B].
  • Joey considered the risks of using [Ming] hides but remained interested in acquiring them as sources of Nen abilities and training aids.
  • Joey reviewed Kite’s explanation of Emission and Conjuration Nen Beasts and speculated that the [Calamities] and [Hopes] might be Nen Beasts that had escaped control.
  • Joey asked Kite about the Kakin princes’ guardian Nen Beasts, and Kite suggested asking Ging for information.
  • Joey wondered whether a [Weapon] soul still existed inside him and was driving his desire to travel to the Dark Continent, then considered seeking a Hunter knowledgeable about souls.

Ch. 139Text messages, picking up the cat, and Sambika

Joey sought advice about his soul-related problem and arranged a consultation with Cheadle at Hunter Association Headquarters. He left Heavens Arena with Ginger Cat, and Sambika agreed to take the cat and work with Joey on a secret laboratory.

  • Joey asked his contacts for help, and Mizaistom recommended Cheadle while Knov arranged an appointment for October 7.
  • Joey postponed his Heavens Arena match, picked up Ginger Cat, and visited Kite and Shiping before traveling to Hunter Association Headquarters.
  • Joey met Sambika at a restaurant and offered her Ginger Cat and a sample of Herbivorous Dragon Flu Virus.
  • Sambika accepted the virus sample and agreed to work with Joey on building and managing a secret laboratory funded with ten billion Jenny.
  • Sambika said she would leave Ginger Cat with Cluck for now, and Joey reminded her that he still needed to get a Hunter License.

Ch. 140Cheadle's diagnosis grew clearer

Joey consulted Cheadle about Ming’s skin and the possibility of souls, and her ability confirmed that the skin could briefly come to life after absorbing enough aura. Cheadle also detected a mysterious presence inside Joey, leading him to conclude it was the [Weapon] and to resolve to stay away from [Brion]; he left with new questions about God Script and a bill for four hundred million Jenny.

  • Joey asked Cheadle to keep Ming’s secret confidential for a year, and she agreed after confirming his ties to the Hunter Association.
  • Cheadle analyzed the handkerchief made from Ming’s skin and found that it could regain vitality by absorbing aura, warning Joey that it might revive.
  • Cheadle advised Joey to study the God Script on the handkerchief before using it and suggested asking Piyon or Ging for help.
  • Cheadle’s ability detected an unusual presence inside Joey, and Joey concluded that the hidden soul was the [Weapon] influencing him to seek the Dark Continent.
  • Joey decided to stay away from [Brion], then paid Beans Cheadle’s four-hundred-million-Jenny consultation fee and planned to await Piyon’s deciphered God Script information.

Ch. 141Cluck's laboratory and return

Joey visited Cluck’s laboratory to check on Little Orange and learn about laboratory facilities, then arranged construction of his own laboratory and returned to Heavens Arena. After reaching the 200th Floor, Joey prepared for matches and told Wing he would challenge him after warming up.

  • Joey met Cluck, inspected the laboratory where Little Orange was staying, and learned about a suitable nearby site for building his own laboratory.
  • Joey hired a professional team through Knov to build his laboratory and posted a Hunter Association commission for a qualified laboratory administrator.
  • Joey returned to Heavens Arena, won his matches on the lower floors, and reached the 200th Floor after accepting merchants’ offers to delay his promotion by two days.
  • Joey registered for matches on the 200th Floor while concealing the extent of his Ten, drawing the attention of eager challengers.
  • Joey visited Wing and Zushi, then told Wing he would challenge him after warming up with a couple of matches.

Ch. 142The first match: An unexpected opponent

Joey faced Razor in his first match on the 200th floor, discovering that the newcomer had come specifically to test him. Razor overwhelmed Joey with remotely controlled Nen Bullets, but Joey counterattacked with a flaming giant fist as Razor prepared a powerful strike.

  • Joey entered the ring to face Razor, who said he would explain his purpose after testing Joey's strength.
  • Razor attacked with Nen Bullets, and Joey used his Weather Nen Beast and a fan-shaped En to slow and slice through them.
  • Razor detonated concealed Nen Bullets around Joey, blasting him through the air and criticizing him for relying on an incomplete ability.
  • As Razor raised a volleyball-sized Nen Bullet, flames appeared beside him and an enormous fist swung toward his face.

Ch. 143Joey vs. Razor

Joey defeated Razor at Heavens Arena by using his weather control, disappearing tricks, and living coins to get past Razor’s Nen Beasts. After Razor surrendered, he explained that Kite had sent him to guide Joey, and the two left together as Razor prepared to travel to Kakin with his companions.

  • Razor used his [14 Devils] Nen Beasts and powerful Nen attacks to keep Joey at range, while Joey used coins, ice, mist, and weather manipulation to counter them.
  • Joey destroyed the No. 2 Nen Beast with an explosion, then concealed himself among mist and ice crystals while Razor searched for him with En.
  • Joey and Killer Queen appeared behind Razor and attacked, but Razor used a Nen Beast as a shield before surrendering.
  • Razor correctly deduced how Joey had controlled the atmosphere and hidden himself, but Joey revealed that living coins had misled Razor’s En and enabled his surprise attack.
  • Razor told Joey that Kite had asked him to offer guidance, and Joey welcomed his advice as they left the arena.
  • Razor said his companions were serious offenders who were staying in their rooms and would travel with him to Kakin.

Ch. 144Coming into his own, trading blows, every punch hitting home

Razor told Joey that Ging had deciphered the God Script vow and that breaking it required going to the Dark Continent, while Joey trained and continued fighting at Heavens Arena. Joey’s match with Wing began as a fierce close-combat exchange, leaving Joey to assess Wing’s apparent ability to grow stronger as the fight continued.

  • Razor told Joey that Ging believed he and Razor would help each other on the journey to the Dark Continent, and explained that the God Script vow would eventually consume its user unless its creator was destroyed.
  • Razor gave Joey Ging’s God Script notes and reported that Kakin planned to launch the B.W. No. 1 on August eighth next year; Joey decided to use the months before departure to improve his abilities.
  • Razor advised Joey on Emission and ranged Nen combat, while Joey won six consecutive Heavens Arena matches and arranged to interview Goreinu after his upcoming fight with Wing.
  • Joey compared Ging’s God Script translation with Piyon’s work, began studying the script, and planned to pursue meteorological research to develop Weather Report.
  • Joey and Wing opened their match by trading punches, with Joey using his Weather Nen Beast, atmospheric resistance, rain, and cold to counter Wing’s attacks.
  • Joey noticed Wing’s movements accelerating and his muscles changing as the fight continued, and suspected Wing’s ability enhanced him the longer he fought.

Ch. 145Joey vs. Wing

Joey defeated Wing at Heavens Arena by exploiting the effects of oxygen deprivation and using Weather Report to create a vacuum, then celebrated with Wing and Zushi. After leaving the arena, he visited Hunter Association Headquarters and continued building his home and facilities before preparing to interview Goreinu.

  • Joey wore Wing down with a prolonged fight inside an ice dome, using weather attacks and defensive tactics while waiting for his opponent to weaken from oxygen deprivation.
  • Joey used Weather Nen Beast to extract the air around Wing, forcing him to surrender; Wing acknowledged the strategy, and Joey won his seventh consecutive Heavens Arena match.
  • Joey, Wing, and Zushi shared a farewell meal and exchanged advice about fighting Nen users.
  • Joey left Heavens Arena the next morning and visited Hunter Association Headquarters, where construction had begun on his laboratory, villa, and training facility.
  • Joey saw that his villa plans had expanded to include rooms for his friends and allies, while Knov, Morel, and Andrei built additional facilities nearby.
  • Joey booked a hotel room and rented an office so he could meet Goreinu for their planned interview.

Ch. 146Goreinu, V5, and the Saherta United States

Joey hired Goreinu to oversee Cluck’s laboratory, then traveled through Saherta while preparing for a possible Dark Continent expedition. After Saherta’s outsider mark and travel restrictions revealed the country’s Nen-based security, Joey realized the V5 might be using Kakin to explore the New Continent and confront the Five Great Calamities.

  • Joey hired Goreinu for an annual salary of one billion Jenny, and Goreinu began studying the laboratory animals while his white-furred gorilla guarded Ginger Cat.
  • Joey told Knov and Morel that he intended to join the Dark Continent expedition, while Morel offered him a place with his Sea Hunter team and Joey considered hiding his identity to avoid Kakin’s Succession War.
  • Joey traveled across Saherta’s desert, weathering a severe sandstorm with Weather Report before reaching a town on the country’s edge.
  • A police officer explained that Saherta required outsiders to obtain temporary residence permits and would eliminate visitors who stayed beyond three days without Hunter Licenses.
  • Joey examined the Nen-and-God-Script outsider mark on his hand and concluded that the V5 might be sending Kakin to explore the New Continent, where the Five Great Calamities could threaten humanity again.

Ch. 147The Five Great Calamities, V5, and the Hunter Association

Joey investigated the Five Great Calamities and the V5 nations while driving through the desert, then tested Saherta’s mark and discovered it detected Nen users. He left the country, unaware that a uniformed team was tracking the presence of a Weapon and pursuing him.

  • Joey reviewed what he knew about the Five Great Calamities, the Dark Continent expeditions, and the countries of V5 as he drove through the desert.
  • Joey considered the upcoming expedition, the Hunter Association’s personnel, and his plans to consult Andrei and find Gourmet Hunters.
  • Joey tested Saherta’s border mark and confirmed that it disappeared when he suppressed his Nen but returned when he used Nen.
  • Joey concluded that Saherta’s mark made his infiltration plan impossible, suspected the country had hidden strength, and drove away.
  • A four-person team followed Joey’s tire tracks after detecting a Weapon, and the muscular young man pursued him to clean up what he called a stray awakened Weapon.

Ch. 148Pursuit, probing, and traps

Joey used Gold Experience creations to identify and mislead the team pursuing him from Saherta, then hid his vehicle and prepared an ambush. He attacked the pursuers with a planted lizard and concealed swifts, leaving Orlando unconscious as the others faced his traps.

  • Joey sent hummingbirds to scout the pursuers, then used snakes to alter his tire tracks and confirmed the team had other ways to track him.
  • Joey hid his vehicle behind a dune, masked it with a sandstorm, and scattered hummingbirds to draw the pursuers apart.
  • Orlando shot down Joey's hummingbirds while Dick tracked Joey through the desert, and the toothpick man drove the team onward despite Joey's snakes.
  • Joey detonated a lizard planted on the vehicle, flipping it and separating the toothpick man and Dick from Orlando and the thin man.
  • Joey's swift made the thin man vanish, and Joey appeared near Orlando and removed his arm before Orlando lost consciousness.

Ch. 149A living [Ming] blasted skyward

Joey ambushed Saherta’s squad and captured two limbless men, but Dick used a clone and the desert sand to counterattack. Joey exposed Dick’s scheme and blasted both versions of him, leaving the fate of the remaining man and the living [Ming] unresolved.

  • Joey opened the ambush with hummingbirds, venomous snakes, and a swift, then erased the sniper’s limbs and took him hostage.
  • Joey trapped a defensive fighter in a Sandfire Tornado and repeatedly bombed him with Heartbreaker Attack, leaving him badly injured but recovering.
  • Joey tracked Dick toward a hidden vehicle, but Dick sank into the sand and revealed a second version of himself carrying a [Ming].
  • Dick’s clone tried to kill the injured captive and draw Joey away, while Joey suspected the living [Ming] could conjure clones.
  • Joey turned a car door into a cheetah that disrupted Dick’s clone, then used hidden scorpions to blast Dick out of the sand.

Ch. 150Insect cries, God Script, and oxygen deprivation

Joey defeated Dick and the Saherta pursuit squad, rescued Ming by removing the God Script that was draining its life, and captured the sniper Orlando. As Joey questioned Orlando about Weapons and the Dark Continent, Orlando began a dangerous vow, so Joey erased him and continued toward the desert’s edge.

  • Joey used snakes, a scorpion bomb, En, and the Weather Nen Beast to force Dick out of the sand, then transformed him into a limbless torso with Killer Queen.
  • Ming opened a vortex that pulled a soul into Dick, but Joey removed the God Script from Ming and repaired its body with Gold Experience.
  • Joey erased the uncooperative Weapon occupying Dick, rescued the sniper, and drove away with Ming and the prisoner.
  • Joey questioned Orlando, who revealed that Kakin had made an agreement with the Weapons and had previously reached the Dark Continent; he also warned that Brion could bring Spores into Lake Mobius.
  • When Orlando began a God Script vow, Joey erased him before he could finish, then discarded his ashes and drove toward the edge of the desert.

Ch. 151Dinner, progress, and Kukuroo Mountain

Joey advanced his Nen training while preparing to investigate Kakin, and he discovered how Ming’s ability trapped a soul inside a Coin. In March, he visited the Zoldyck Family on Kukuroo Mountain, where Illumi took him to meet Great-grandfather Zigg instead of Killua.

  • Joey shared dinner with Knov, Morel, and Andrei, learned about the next Hunter Exam’s recruitment plans, and decided not to take it.
  • Joey studied God Script, increased his aura and En, and discovered that Ming’s cry trapped the soul of the nearest creature inside a Coin.
  • Goreinu brought Ginger Cat back to Joey’s completed laboratory, where Sambika began studying its strange, possibly Zobae-like condition.
  • Joey visited Linnie, who gave him a note reading “Gain and loss,” then arranged to visit the Zoldyck Family through Killua.
  • At Kukuroo Mountain, Joey learned that Killua and Alluka were still traveling and that Illumi would take him to meet Zigg.
  • Joey revealed that he had noticed Illumi approaching with En active, then followed Illumi up the mountain.
