Background / History

Heaven Severing Sect and the Lower Realm

The Demoness grew up in the Heaven Severing Sect. After becoming its Saintess, she presented herself publicly as “Demoness,” following the example of previous Saintesses. She originally expected to cultivate her strength and temperament before devoting herself to the sect 91.

Her early meetings with Shi Qingyun are playful and provocative. She approaches him over his treatment of her maid, later introduces herself as Wan Muyun, and offers her friendship. When he needs a private location to forge precious materials, she directs him to Godfall Mountain 47 48.

She later tends to the injured Shi Qingyun, exhausting enough divine power that she must replenish herself with treasure medicine. After his recovery, she informs him of Heaven Mending Pavilion’s destruction and the expected emergence of the Kunpeng Nest 83 84.

Kunpeng Nest and Their Confession

The Demoness accompanies Shi Qingyun and Little White to the North Sea to search for treasure. During the journey, Shi Qingyun shares an incomplete Kunpeng Precious Technique with her. Touched by his trust, she asks whether he loves her; his answer and embrace lead her to explain how meeting him changed the future she had imagined for herself 85 91.

At the Yang Extreme Cave, she studies Kunpeng’s Dao resonance within formations Shi Qingyun establishes for her protection. When the Kunpeng Nest opens while he is still cultivating, she stays to guard him rather than immediately pursue its opportunities 97 99.

Stone Kingdom and the Lower Realm Calamity

In the Stone Kingdom, she attends an auction and the Stone Emperor’s birthday banquet with Shi Qingyun. At the banquet, she uses a treasure to confine Shi Hao and Yue Chan together, then gleefully teases Yue Chan after their release 105 107.

She also accompanies Shi Qingyun to Stone Village, where Shi Qingfeng welcomes her as his sister-in-law. The couple spend several peaceful days among the villagers before departing. Afterward, she remains in the imperial capital to await her true body’s descent; its arrival is confirmed when Shi Qingyun next reunites with her 110 112 119.

When the Netherworld and allied powers threaten Deer-Chasing Academy, her position as Saintess limits her ability to intervene openly: direct participation could turn the dispute into a war between the Heaven Severing Sect and the Netherworld. Nevertheless, she orders her Venerable protectors to follow Shi Qingyun and defend him at any cost 126.

Her master eventually accepts their relationship and offers Shi Qingyun protection in the Upper Realm. The Demoness returns to urge him to accept, but he refuses to abandon Deer-Chasing Academy. She agrees to wait for him and leaves before he wakes the next morning 158 159.

Immortal Ancient and Cloud Palace

The pair reunite on the bluestone steps leading into the Immortal Ancient Small World, where disciples of Sword Valley and the Demon Dragon Dao Sect have surrounded her. Shi Qingyun kills the Sword Valley disciple, while she kills the remaining attacker. They continue upward together before she enters the sacred land ahead of him 185 186.

Later, when other arena champions threaten to attack Shi Qingyun and Shi Hao together, she joins Shi Qingyun with her sword drawn. After leaving the secret realm, she visits him at Cloud Palace, where his medicinal preparations and cultivation support help her break through 197 199 202 205.

Heavenly Deity Academy

At Heavenly Deity Academy, the Demoness decorates their shared cave abode with rare treasures and flowering treasure medicines. She chooses the Immortal Ancient Method, while Shi Qingyun selects the Current Age Method; both respect the other’s decision 211 217.

During their search for a suitable Dao Seed, they obtain a seed that resonates with her laws, but removing it releases a sealed monster. Shi Qingyun stays behind while she seeks the Third Elder. When Jin Yuan ambushes and obstructs her, she kills him with the Qilin Feather and takes his golden bow 224 225.

After entering Void Dao, she and Shi Qingyun spend their quieter days cultivating, drinking tea, and discussing the Dao in the bamboo forest. Their seclusion ends when the manifestation of an immortal’s tomb draws the Academy disciples out to investigate 235.

Border Wasteland War

Before entering the battlefield, the Demoness insists that she must temper herself independently rather than remain under Shi Qingyun’s protection. After demonstrating the Void Nether Dao Seed’s ability to make enemies slaughter one another, she leaves to pursue her own battles, agreeing to meet him periodically at the Imperial Pass 251.

Her abilities draw the Foreign Realm’s attention. A six-person hunting party, including an Escape One cultivator, pursues her through shattered space. Although her techniques repeatedly delay them, she suffers severe injuries and is nearly overwhelmed before Shi Qingyun arrives, kills her pursuers, and carries her to safety 269 270.

Following Shi Qingyun’s departure, she vows to await his return and eventually reaches Supreme Being through secluded cultivation. During a later invasion, True Immortals overwhelm the Nine Heavens’ defenders; her words summon Shi Qingyun’s Immortal King projection, which destroys the attackers threatening her 279 286 292.

Immortality and the Final War

The Demoness accompanies Shi Qingyun’s group into the Boundary Sea to pursue immortality. After nearly ten thousand years apart, they reunite as she completes her immortal ascension tribulation. Back in the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths, she witnesses the same shattered glimpse of future annihilation that troubles him 295 306 307.

During the later war against darkness, her Dao Mirror reflects departed Immortal Kings into battle in the twenty-five-thousandth year. The account places her fall alongside their final display of power. The chapter later depicts her alive: ten thousand years after Shi Qingyun’s return, they hold a wedding celebrated throughout the Myriad Heavens. In the final scene, she sits in a bamboo forest holding a child; the supplied account does not explain her restoration 315.

Appearance

  • Hair and complexion: Long black hair and fair, jade-like skin 47 99.
  • Fox tails: Several swaying tails are a recurring feature of her appearance, sometimes surrounded by an unusual halo 47 119.
  • Clothing: Commonly wears a pink-and-white dress; she appears in a snow-white dress during the confrontation on the bluestone steps 47 119 185.
  • Manifestations: Pink vapor, drifting petals, and butterflies frequently accompany her entrances and movement techniques 47 106 119.

Personality

The Demoness enjoys teasing others, particularly Shi Qingyun, Shi Hao, and Yue Chan. Her confident, seductive manner can give way to embarrassment when Shi Qingyun responds sincerely or turns her flirtation back on her. Her rivalry with Yue Chan brings out an especially mischievous streak 84 105 107 109.

Her affection is protective rather than merely playful. She dispatches her own guards to protect Shi Qingyun, seeks sanctuary for him through her master, and stands beside him when other cultivators threaten a combined attack. She also insists on developing her own strength, explicitly rejecting a life spent sheltered at his side 126 159 197 251.

She can be warm with children and commanding with subordinates. Stone Village’s children grow deeply attached to her, while her Venerable protectors obey her cold, authoritative orders. Her outlook is pragmatic: she tells Shi Qingyun that strength governs worldly affairs, but fiercely rejects anyone treating him as merchandise 112 120 126.

Abilities & Skills

Void Nether Dao Seed

Her Dao Seed governs interactions between reality and illusion, manifesting through an ancient mirror 235 251.

  • Illusory battlefields: Makes Foreign Realm cultivators attack those around them before recognizing their actual enemy 251.
  • Phasing: Allows her to stand between the real and illusory, rendering tribulation lightning unable to strike her directly 235.
  • Escape and damage diversion: Enables her to merge into a mirror and divert much of an attack’s damage into the surrounding time and space 270.
  • Limit: These defenses do not make her invulnerable. An Escape One cultivator’s attack leaves her body cracked and badly injured despite her mitigation 270.

Reflection of Past Beings

Her mirror techniques can reproduce figures connected to the past and bring them into combat 269 307.

  • Reflects beings who died on an ancient battlefield, using them to obstruct pursuers; those pursuers describe the figures as mere appearances 269.
  • Reflects a Quasi-King version of Shi Qingyun during her immortal ascension tribulation 307.
  • Calls forth departed Immortal Kings for a final battle against darkness 315.

Kunpeng Precious Technique

Shi Qingyun initially transmits an incomplete version of the technique to her 91.

  • Manifests a Kunpeng phantom during combat and flight 186 223.
  • Covers a hundred li with a slight beat of the phantom’s wings while rushing toward the Academy warship 225.
  • Combines with the Void Nether Dao Seed to prolong her escape from stronger Foreign Realm pursuers 269.

Swordsmanship and Heaven-Cutting Power

She combines direct sword attacks with beguiling divine power 186 225.

  • Her pink longsword releases sword qi that transforms into an enchanting fairy; powerful opponents can recover from its entrancing effect 186.
  • Uses a swift sword strike to decapitate a Blood Beast during the Dao Seed expedition 223.
  • Channels Heaven-Cutting Power into the Qilin Feather to unleash a lethal attack 225.

Charm, Movement, and Spiritual Body

  • Pink aura: Her mist induces feverish admiration in bystanders who inhale it; cultivators with greater strength can remain unaffected 47.
  • Petal and butterfly movement: Dissolves into petals or butterflies and reforms elsewhere 106 116 119.
  • Spiritual body: Her early Lower Realm interactions occur through a spiritual body, distinct from the true body whose descent she later awaits 112 119.
