Arc 27Worgen, Elements, and Rebuilding

Patrick’s forces ended the Wolf Cult’s hold over Gilneas, but Genn kept the kingdom outside the Arcane Pact as Patrick turned to plans for rebuilding Stratholme. Meanwhile, Thrall sought answers from Draenor’s Elemental Furies about Azeroth’s suffering and reached Gordawg still unsure of its cause.

  • Pasareen and the Sun Seeker Legion’s researchers explored Ulduar as Patrick raised it above the Storm Peaks, installed the Constructs Creator Engine, and began preparing it to fly to Quel'Thalas.
  • Norgannon warned Patrick that energy could change those who wielded it, while Thrall faced increasingly hostile elements and reluctantly decided Garrosh was the best candidate to succeed him as Warchief.
  • Patrick and Tirion entered Gilneas to confront the worgen, and Patrick killed Lylael, suppressed the curse’s frenzy, and brewed a potion that restored the afflicted worgen’s reason.
  • Ivar Bloodfang explained how Arugal’s summoning contract had bound Alpha, while Darius Crowley urged Patrick to support Gilneas joining the Arcane Pact, and Patrick refused to decide the kingdom’s future without Genn.
  • After Genn challenged Patrick’s intervention, Patrick rejected further involvement in Gilneas, and the kingdom chose to observe the Arcane Pact rather than join it.
  • Thrall traveled with Agna to the Throne of the Elements, where Karadios and Ithranatus spoke of Draenor’s corrupted elements and Ithranatus blessed Thrall with the passion to keep trying.
  • Patrick and Tirion agreed that Quel'Thalas would finance Stratholme’s reconstruction in return for commercial and trade benefits, while Lordaeron retained sovereignty and protected the project’s scholars.
  • Eblius urged Thrall not to let fear stop him from healing Azeroth, and Gordawg asked him why Azeroth’s elementals were suffering.
Chapters 679–703 Vol. 7 Read

Ch. 679The Second Floating City

Patrick brought Quel'Thalas's researchers and engineers to Ulduar to study its technology and prepare the Titan complex for the kingdom's use. After sealing the areas tainted by Yogg-Saron, he went to the Observatory to activate Ulduar's levitation magic circles.

  • Pasareen and the Sun Seeker Legion's researchers marveled at Ulduar as Patrick explained its facilities and directed them to study its technology.
  • Patrick told the researchers to build teleportation links to Sunlight City and Silvermoon City, while requiring a token for entry to Ulduar.
  • The four Guardians greeted Patrick as their master and agreed to guide the researchers through Ulduar.
  • Mimiron gave Patrick a projector containing Ulduar's regional information, and Patrick passed it to Pasareen.
  • Patrick and the four Guardians used their energy marks to seal the areas beneath the Descent into Madness against entry.
  • Patrick went to the Observatory and began forming a Spatial Arcane Sequence to activate Ulduar's levitation magic circles.

Ch. 680Super Arcane Magic-Coffin of Space

Patrick raised Ulduar into a floating city, extracted the Constructs Creator Engine from the Storm Peaks, and joined it to the city. While the Iron Giants and Iron Dwarves began construction, he developed a new spatial attack and left its further improvements for future research.

  • Patrick lifted Ulduar into the air and brought it over the center of the Storm Peaks.
  • Patrick pulled the Constructs Creator Engine from beneath the earth and fitted it into Ulduar, causing earthquakes and avalanches.
  • The Iron Giants and Iron Dwarves began building connections between the Creator Engine and Ulduar.
  • Patrick tested a spatial-energy cube that sealed stones inside and shattered them into fragments.
  • Elune pointed out that Patrick's Coffin of Space could not yet prevent escape or damage souls and energy.
  • Patrick planned to improve the Coffin of Space gradually and wait for Ulduar's energy circulation to stabilize before sending it toward Quel'Thalas.

Ch. 681The duality of energy

Norgannon appeared before Patrick in the Observatory and explained that all energy had dual aspects, including opposing properties and physical and magical forms. He left Patrick reflecting on how energy shaped its users and whether light could exist within shadow.

  • Norgannon projected an intelligent phantom into the Observatory and told Patrick he could learn more about the nature of energy.
  • Norgannon explained that energy had positive and negative aspects and that its properties gradually changed its users.
  • Norgannon described the physical and magical forms of energy as interdependent opposites that could also merge.
  • Norgannon warned Patrick to understand energy without losing himself to power, then returned to the Discs of Norgannon.
  • Patrick considered Alexandros's questions about justice and evil and wondered whether Holy Light could exist within shadow.

Ch. 682Ulduar heads south

Patrick sealed the Observatory around the Floating Core and brought Ulduar’s Titan-forged inhabitants with him as the city flew south toward Quel'Thalas. In Orgrimmar, Thrall sensed that the disasters troubling Azeroth and the agitation of the elements foretold a new threat.

  • Patrick wondered about the nature of spiritual power, then left the sealed Observatory and its Floating Core under guard.
  • Patrick learned from Talonikus that High Elf researchers had established temporary laboratories and quarters inside Ulduar, while Kael'thas had returned to the kingdom.
  • Ulduar flew south toward Quel'Thalas, carrying the Titan-forged beings and leaving its outer walls behind.
  • Thrall worried that earthquakes, tsunamis, and the elements’ anger were signs of an unseen enemy and a coming evil.

Ch. 683The elements' unrest

Thrall led the effort to put out a fire in Orgrimmar and discovered that the fire elementals had become hostile and difficult to control. After destroying a defiant spark, he left the fire quelled but worried about the elements’ growing unrest.

  • Thrall ordered the Kor'kron to summon the Shamans and organize the people to contain the fire in Orgrimmar.
  • Thrall and the other Shamans tried to persuade the flames to stop burning, and the fire reluctantly died down after consuming seven buildings.
  • Thrall begged a roaming spark not to ignite another building, but it refused and flared up again.
  • Thrall warned the spark and destroyed it, turning it into a harmless elemental crystal.
  • The other Shamans summoned rain to wet the city as Thrall recognized that the elements were becoming increasingly hostile.

Ch. 684Choices

Thrall discussed the growing elemental disturbances with Muln Earthfury and asked him to investigate possible problems within the Earthen Ring. He then spoke with Eitrigg about choosing a successor and the Horde’s losses from generations of war, leaving Eitrigg worried about Thrall’s state of mind.

  • Thrall summoned Eitrigg and Muln Earthfury and told Muln that the elements were behaving with unusual fury.
  • Muln agreed to investigate the disturbances and privately suspected that some Shamans within the Earthen Ring were hiding their intentions.
  • Thrall told Eitrigg he wanted to seek out his grandmother and study shamanism, then asked whether Garrosh, Dranosh, or Jorin would make a better successor.
  • Eitrigg urged Thrall to consider finding a mate and having children, but Thrall said the Horde’s crises and his duties mattered more.
  • Thrall described his hope of protecting the Horde and ending its cycle of war, and Eitrigg worried that his friend seemed troubled and despairing.

Ch. 685The choice

Thrall and Eitrigg discussed the Horde’s future, the Mag’har candidates for leadership, and the danger of renewed war. Thrall concluded that Garrosh was the only choice who could secure the Warsong Clan’s loyalty.

  • Thrall worried that the Horde’s leaders would drive its warriors into further violence, while the failing land and silent elements left his people dependent on the Arcane Pact.
  • Eitrigg advised Thrall to address the land’s problems first, and Thrall decided to seek Grandmother’s help in understanding what was wrong.
  • Eitrigg judged Dranosh reckless but teachable, Jorin capable but lacking supporters, Garrosh broadly acceptable and backed by the Warsong and Kor’kron, and Vol’jin wise but constrained by the Darkspear’s weakness.
  • Thrall considered the risk that another war with the Alliance could leave the Horde defeated and imprisoned, and reluctantly accepted that Garrosh was the best candidate for Warchief.

Ch. 686Treatment

Patrick and Tirion led High Elf and Lordaeron forces into Silverpine Forest to investigate the crisis in Gilneas. Near the Greymane Wall, they found an injured young man who had escaped from the kingdom, but he stayed silent when Patrick questioned him.

  • Kael'thas told Patrick that Lordaeron would send troops to investigate Gilneas and encourage Genn Greymane to join the Arcane Pact.
  • Patrick's High Elf army and Lordaeron's forces met at Andorhal and advanced through Silverpine Forest toward the Greymane Wall.
  • Patrick planned to use the worgen crisis to introduce the Animal Gods and their priests to Gilneas.
  • Scouts found an injured young man near the Greymane Wall, and Patrick's forces treated his wounds.
  • The Lynx Spirit Regba said the young man smelled of wolves, and Patrick suspected he had encountered worgen or contracted the curse.
  • The young man awoke, searched for a weapon, and refused to answer Patrick's question about who he was.

Ch. 687Percival's inner thoughts

Patrick questioned Percival Glop about the worgen emerging from the Greymane Wall, and Percival revealed the curse spreading through Gilneas before transforming into a worgen himself. Patrick suppressed Goldrinn’s power enough to restore Percival’s reason, and Percival recounted his escape from Gilneas, leaving Tirion Fordring worried that the curse threatened his troops.

  • Tirion Fordring fed Percival and asked why he had collapsed, while Patrick pressed him about the worgen and the power changing him.
  • Percival explained that worgen attacked Gilneas, spread a curse through bites, and descended on the city after Prince Liam withdrew to fight in a civil war.
  • Percival transformed into a worgen and attacked Patrick, but Patrick bound him with arcane vines.
  • Patrick asked Elune for help, then used her power to suppress Goldrinn’s influence and restore Percival’s reason.
  • Percival described his escape from Duskhaven and his fear of infecting his family, and Tirion Fordring warned that his troops could be in danger.

Ch. 688Darius Crowley

Patrick and Tirion led the Coalition Forces into Gilneas to confront the worgen curse and the Wolf Leader, while Darius Crowley’s defenders fought to hold the capital. The chapter ended with the forces trapping the worgen in the cathedral district as Darius prepared for unavoidable close combat.

  • Patrick said he could suppress Percival’s worgen curse and restore his sanity, but could not yet cure it completely.
  • Tirion ordered precautions against the worgen, and Percival agreed to guide Patrick and the Coalition Forces into Gilneas City.
  • At Northgate Woods, Alleria identified beast attacks among the dead, and Percival confirmed that worgen had caused the slaughter.
  • Patrick sensed an Immortal-level worgen among the approaching pack and warned Tirion to favor ranged attacks to limit the curse’s spread.
  • Darius learned that the Wolf Leader’s forces were storming the city as the Coalition Forces arrived and trapped the worgen in the cathedral district.
  • As Coalition troops fired on the worgen, Darius put down his rifle and drew his sword for close combat at the Holy Light Dawn Cathedral.

Ch. 689Meeting

Darius Crowley fought to hold the Cathedral District against the worgen while Patrick and his allies advanced on their leader, Alpha. After learning that Genn had escaped, Patrick confronted Alpha and offered him a chance to leave as the fate of Darius and the defenders remained uncertain.

  • Darius led the defense of the church, fought off the worgen, and continued holding the line despite numerous wounds and exhaustion.
  • Patrick and Tirion Fordring decided to enter the Cathedral District with elite squads and confront the worgen leader.
  • Patrick's group reached the cathedral square and found that the worgen had apparently overrun Holy Light Dawn Church.
  • Alpha emerged from the church, claimed he would spread the Wolf Cult, and said Darius was about to join the worgen.
  • Patrick learned that King Genn had escaped with his people and offered Alpha the chance to leave while promising to restore the Gilneans' sanity.

Ch. 690The Wolf Leader Was Killed in an Instant

Patrick defeated and killed Lylael, the Wolf Leader, then offered the remaining worgen help suppressing their curse. Tirion and Patrick’s forces took charge of the aftermath, while the badly wounded Darius remained unconscious under guard.

  • Patrick bound Lylael and blocked his attack with his Mana Shield, then captured the worgen who charged to defend their leader.
  • Patrick killed Lylael with Coffin of Space, and Lylael’s most faithful followers burned to ash.
  • Iva Bloodfang asked Patrick to remove the worgen curse’s frenzy, and Patrick demonstrated how Percival Glop could suppress it by transforming back into human form.
  • Patrick sent Percival to take in the worgen who wanted help, while Tirion Fordring directed soldiers to tend to the aftermath and search for surviving Gilneans.
  • Tirion’s reinforcements reached Darius’s defenders, and priests and paladins treated the wounded while Darius lay unconscious under guard.

Ch. 691The Alliance's advance

Patrick prepared a calming potion that suppressed the Worgen Curse’s frenzy, while Darius woke and learned the cathedral had been saved. Meanwhile, Bolvar and Medivh advanced toward the Northeron Highlands, where Medivh seized an island as a staging ground.

  • Patrick brewed a potion that restored the reason of those afflicted by the Worgen Curse, and the wounded took it through the night.
  • Darius awoke, learned that the Azeroth Arcane Covenant had saved the cathedral, drank Patrick’s potion, and asked to meet the High Elves.
  • Varian’s Alliance forces advanced on the Northeron Highlands, with Bolvar leading the naval force in a pincer attack alongside the Dwarves and Gnomes.
  • Medivh sensed a chaotic aura near the highlands and suspected Twilight’s Hammer was involved in Med’an’s abduction.
  • Medivh appeared on an island ahead of the fleet and vaporized its Twilight Cultists and elemental creatures with arcane fire.
  • Bolvar ordered the fleet to land on the island and prepare to advance toward the Northeron Highlands.

Ch. 692An opportunity

Ivar Bloodfang explained the worgen curse’s origins and Alpha’s history to Patrick, while Darius Crowley recovered and came to thank him for rescuing them. The chapter ended with Patrick hearing Darius’s request.

  • Ivar Bloodfang told Patrick that Arugal summoned worgen from Darnassus to fight the Scourge, but they turned on Gilneas and spread the curse.
  • Ivar explained that Alpha was bound by Arugal’s summoning contract until Arugal died, after which Alpha transformed the survivors and led them into Gilneas.
  • Ivar gave Patrick two fragments of The Book of Ur warning that the worgen’s world was dangerous and that summoning them could bring catastrophe.
  • Darius Crowley approached Patrick, thanked him for saving them, and prepared to tell him what he needed.

Ch. 693A request

Darius offered to join the Arcane Pact and cut the Gilneas Brigade’s ties with Theramore, hoping to end Gilneas’s isolation. Patrick refused to let Darius commit the kingdom without King Genn and urged him to wait until Genn returned.

  • Darius told Patrick that Gilneas could join the Arcane Pact and offered to sever the Gilneas Brigade’s ties with Theramore.
  • Patrick said Darius could not speak for the Kingdom of Gilneas and that the Arcane Pact would not interfere in its internal affairs.
  • Patrick recalled Gilneas’s past refusal to help Lordaeron and considered Varian’s distrust of Genn justified.
  • Patrick told Darius not to rush into another coup and said he could discuss Gilneas’s future with Genn when the king returned.

Ch. 694Liam's arrival

Prince Liam arrived at the ruined cathedral and learned how the Azeroth Arcane Covenant had helped Gilneas survive the worgen crisis. Patrick announced that the Covenant would withdraw from Gilneas, leaving Liam and Darius to confront the question of whether the kingdom would join the Arcane Pact.

  • Prince Liam arrived at the ruined cathedral and was astonished to see worgen working peacefully after Quel'Thalas's potion restored their sanity.
  • Darius told Liam that the Covenant had rescued Gilneas from the Wolf Cult and urged him to persuade Genn to stop isolating the kingdom.
  • Darius introduced Prince Liam to Patrick and Tirion Fordring inside the cathedral.
  • Patrick announced that the Covenant would withdraw from Gilneas after resolving the worgen crisis.
  • Tirion Fordring said the Covenant had planned to invite Gilneas into the Arcane Pact, but Lord Cabrolon had changed his mind.

Ch. 695No update today.

After dying, Lin Yu inherited his ancestor’s medical and mystical arts and possessed the body of a young man in a coma. He returned to find his mother being threatened over her debts, then met the woman who identified herself as his wife, He Jiarong.

  • Lin Yu died in the hospital and watched as his mother grieved and his body was cremated.
  • A jade pendant left by Lin Yu’s maternal grandfather awakened an ancestor’s inheritance, including the Resurrection Technique.
  • With his soul fading, Lin Yu possessed a young male patient in a vegetative state at a care center.
  • Lin Yu reached his mother’s bun shop and drove off the loan sharks threatening to take her house, promising to repay her debt.
  • He Jiarong arrived at the shop and told Lin Yu that she was his wife, saying he had been in a coma for two months.

Ch. 696Giving up after all

Patrick explained that he had given up on bringing Gilneas into the Arcane Pact because he saw no basis for trust and did not want to interfere in the kingdom’s internal conflicts. He planned to leave with the high elves once the situation settled, while Tirion urged him to wait for King Genn before departing.

  • Darius firmly asked to join the Arcane Pact, and Patrick explained that the organization required unity and mutual trust, which he believed Gilneas lacked.
  • Patrick told Tirion Fordring that he trusted Lordaeron and Archbishop Alonsus Faol, but had decided Gilneas had nothing he wanted and would not meddle in its affairs.
  • Many worgen began fleeing Gilneas under the protection of the animal gods, while Sseratus praised the region and Patrick warned that Genn would oppose the snakes gathering followers there.
  • Patrick instructed his deputy to follow the original plan and take the high elves back to Dalaran and then Silvermoon City, despite Prince Liam asking him to stay.
  • Tirion asked whether Patrick was giving up on bringing Gilneas into the Covenant, and Patrick said he would leave unless he could meet Genn before then.

Ch. 697The formal meeting

King Genn met with Patrick after Quel'Thalas and Lordaeron helped suppress Gilneas's worgen crisis, but he questioned their motives and Patrick answered with a sharp warning. The meeting ended in open hostility, leaving Gilneas's place in the Arcane Pact uncertain.

  • Tirion Fordring and Patrick discussed whether unstable Gilneas could safely join the Arcane Pact and keep its purpose secret.
  • King Genn arrived in Gilneas City, and Patrick delayed meeting him for two days while inspecting the countryside with Quetz'lun, Sseratus, and Har'koa.
  • Vincent Godfrey introduced himself to Patrick as a member of Gilneas's House of Lords.
  • King Genn challenged Patrick to explain why Quel'Thalas and Lordaeron had crossed the Greymane Wall.
  • Patrick said he had suppressed the Worgen Curse and killed The Wolf Leader, then accused Genn of treating his rescuers with suspicion.

Ch. 698Throne of the Elements

Patrick left Gilneas’s political negotiations to Tirion Fordring, while Thrall and Agna traveled to Nagrand to learn at the Throne of the Elements. The earth elemental’s warning that Azeroth would be destroyed remained unexplained as the two reached Lake Sunsong.

  • Patrick rejected further involvement in Gilneas and left Genn Greymane to negotiate with Tirion Fordring.
  • Thrall and Agna heard Greatmother Geyah’s conclusion that an evil presence would destroy the world, after the earth elemental’s message was cut off.
  • Greatmother Geyah sent Thrall and Agna to the Throne of the Elements in Outland to study shamanism.
  • Agna led Thrall across Nagrand to Lake Sunsong, where he sensed elemental power beneath the water.
  • Agna explained that Nagrand had survived Draenor’s devastation better than other regions, though the shamans had been unable to heal the rest of the land.

Ch. 699Muln's support

Thrall and Agna crossed Lake Sunsong to visit the Throne of the Elements, where Thrall saw the Draenor elementals lived peacefully together. Meanwhile, Muln joined Medivh in the Twilight Highlands and began preparing the Earthen Ring to contain Mad Maw Esuolasi while Medivh pursued the Twilight Cultists and searched for Med'an.

  • Agna told Thrall that the elements of Draenor and Azeroth were the same and led him toward the Throne of the Elements.
  • Agna and Thrall walked across Lake Sunsong with the water elemental Eblius's blessing.
  • Medivh described the Alliance's advance through the Twilight Highlands and identified Mad Maw Esuolasi as a grave threat rooted beneath the land.
  • Muln surveyed the area with the Earthen Ring and decided to build an elemental magic circle to heal the land and contain Esuolasi.
  • Muln told Medivh that the Earthen Ring lacked the forces to help attack the Bastion of Twilight, while Medivh continued searching for Med'an.
  • Thrall and Agna reached the Throne of the Elements, and Agna explained that the powerful Elemental Furies had no need to fear one another.

Ch. 700The four elements of Outland

Thrall sought help from the Elemental Furies of Outland to understand the suffering of Azeroth, but Karadios and Ithranatus could offer no answers about his vision. He continued toward the remaining Furies.

  • Agna led Thrall to the Elemental Furies and introduced Gordawg, Eblius, Ithranatus, and Karadios.
  • Thrall approached Karadios and asked whether his vision of failing to save Azeroth was real and unavoidable.
  • Karadios said Draenor’s shattered earth had corrupted the elements and urged Thrall to analyze his vision, explaining that he could do nothing more.
  • Thrall approached Ithranatus, endured the heat, and asked for help with Azeroth’s suffering.
  • Ithranatus said the fire in Outland was itself suffering and told Thrall he could only grant him passion to keep trying.

Ch. 701A new proposal

Thrall received Ithranatus's fiery blessing and shared a tender moment with Agna. In Silverpine Forest, Patrick proposed that Lordaeron rebuild Stratholme with Quel'Thalas's financial and technical help, though Tirion Fordring worried about the kingdom's ability to repay the loan.

  • Ithranatus blessed Thrall with the passion of fire, and Agna comforted him as he recovered.
  • Thrall told Agna that he believed the gift would help him aid Azeroth's elementals, and the two held hands.
  • Patrick and Tirion Fordring discussed Gilneas's decision to observe the Arcane Pact rather than fully join it.
  • Patrick proposed using departing Gilnean civilians to help repopulate the Eastern Plaguelands and rebuild Stratholme.
  • Patrick offered Quel'Thalas's funding and scholars to support Stratholme's reconstruction, while Tirion worried Lordaeron could not repay the loan.

Ch. 702Cooperation and a win-win

Patrick offered Tirion Fordring a nearly interest-free Quel'Thalas loan to rebuild Stratholme, with Lordaeron retaining sovereignty and port operations while sharing commercial tax revenue. Tirion accepted, and the deal promised to help Lordaeron recover while giving Quel'Thalas diplomatic influence and paid work for its people.

  • Patrick proposed that Quel'Thalas finance Stratholme's reconstruction in return for forty percent of commercial tax revenue and favorable trade terms, while Lordaeron kept sovereignty and port operating rights.
  • Tirion Fordring asked about the loan's interest rate, and Patrick said it would be the lowest in the Arcane Pact and practically interest-free.
  • Tirion accepted the terms and said he would report to Calia and Alonsus before sending a trade delegation to Quelrins City.
  • Patrick and Tirion agreed that Vashj's Naga could establish nests near the port, and that Lordaeron would protect the Scholars and cleanse Stratholme's plague-contaminated land.
  • Tirion viewed the agreement as a sign of reconciliation and planned to settle his worgen followers in the rebuilt city.
  • Patrick saw the project as a way to expand Quel'Thalas's influence, employ High Elves, and earn money through construction materials, expertise, labor, and loan repayment.

Ch. 703The other two Elemental Furies

Thrall sought answers from the remaining Elemental Furies at the Throne of the Elements about Azeroth’s suffering elementals. Eblius urged him to face his pain and pursue healing, while Gordawg began questioning him about the source of the elementals’ agony.

  • Agna told Thrall that Gordawg and Eblius might clarify the visions he had received.
  • Thrall prayed to Eblius, who said water could bring balance and restoration and urged him not to let fear hinder his efforts to heal Azeroth.
  • Eblius wept with Thrall, who realized that restoring Azeroth and its elementals mattered more to him than freeing his people or securing them a home.
  • Thrall approached Gordawg and explained that Azeroth’s elementals were suffering and causing disasters, but he did not know why.
  • Gordawg asked Thrall why Azeroth’s elementals were in pain.
