Background / History

Childhood and Reunion with Anyo

Kikyo grew up traveling with Tsunade and Shizune, without knowing Anyo as her father. Tsunade taught her medicine, treatment, and drug research, but withheld ninjutsu and forbade her from fighting. Kikyo nevertheless enjoyed controlling chakra and becoming stronger 345 351.

While gathering herbs near Tanzaku Town, she approached Naruto in a rabbit mask and asked to spar. Soon afterward, Orochimaru recognized her parentage and became interested in obtaining her, considering her more exceptional than Sasuke. Anyo intervened when Orochimaru attacked her 344 345.

When Tsunade tried to leave with her, Kikyo insisted on speaking to Anyo alone. She later told him that Tsunade had waited a week for him after leaving Konoha, prompting him to reconsider his responsibility for their separation. After spending time with him and learning the circumstances, Kikyo accepted him as her father and began calling him “Dad” 345 346 367.

Becoming a Konoha Ninja

Tsunade strongly opposed Kikyo becoming a ninja, fearing the loss of her remaining blood relative. Kikyo refused to abandon her ambition, explaining that she loved the feeling of growing stronger. Anyo eventually secured permission for her to attend the Ninja Academy 351 354.

Concerned about battlefield risks, Anyo developed a fighting style around her strength, Sharingan, soul reconnaissance, and long-range archery. Kikyo graduated early and was assigned to his Team 7, allowing Tsunade to keep her under her father’s supervision 365 370.

Land of Snow

On Team 7’s Land of Snow mission, Kikyo identified weaknesses in the enemy’s chakra armor and copied an environmentally dependent Ice Release technique. However, she initially treated combat like sparring and deliberately held back, troubling Anyo even as he valued her kindness 372 373.

After Koyuki was abducted, Kikyo prepared to shoot down the departing airship. Anyo stopped her because he had deliberately allowed the kidnappers to escape so the team could track them. Kikyo and Sakura then pursued the airship with him using flying devices 373.

Clan Membership and Chūnin Service

Kikyo played the young Tsunade in Anyo’s theatrical production, recreating her mother’s childhood and early ninja career. At Anyo’s wedding to Kurenai Yuhi, Mikoto invited Kikyo into the Uchiha Clan; Kikyo accepted with Tsunade’s prior approval 385 389.

After becoming a chūnin, she frequently completed missions alone. Anbu protection accompanied her without needing to intervene. Following the births of Little White and Rainbow, she took fewer missions and spent more time caring for them 395.

Deidara and the Rinnegan

During the operation at the Five-Seal Barrier, Kikyo detected a Mirror Attacker Technique trap and safely broke its seal with an Arrow of Demon-Breaking. She subsequently stopped an enraged Naruto from pursuing Deidara alone and fought Deidara herself, countering his C4 and bringing him down with a spatial arrow 412 413 414.

Anyo investigated her Rinnegan and discovered Hagoromo’s chakra and consciousness within it. Unable to separate the fused chakra himself, he sealed Hagoromo’s consciousness. He then began teaching Kikyo Ryūchi Cave Senjutsu, while Tsunade prohibited her from leaving Konoha until her condition was understood 418 419.

Jiraiya’s Mission and Disappearance

Seeing Tsunade distressed over Jiraiya’s departure, Kikyo secretly followed his trail to Amegakure. She concealed her body with senjutsu and entered as a soul, witnessing his battle against Pain. His death taught her the seriousness of ninja duty and the reasons behind her parents’ protective measures 436 437 438 445.

Kikyo saved Jiraiya’s soul before it dissipated, but Obito captured her outside Amegakure and imprisoned her in Kamui’s dimension as leverage against Anyo. With Jiraiya’s instruction, she learned enough sealing jutsu to access her Rinnegan and escape 445 446.

Her uncontrolled portal took her far out to sea. There, she touched a strange, withered-wood-like humanoid that began draining her chakra. Senjutsu sustained her through several days of resistance until Mikoto located her and Anyo severed the connection. Kikyo returned home acknowledging the distress she had caused Tsunade and promising not to secretly follow Jiraiya again 469.

Fourth Shinobi World War and Later Events

Despite Tsunade’s renewed restrictions, Kikyo wanted to participate in the Fourth Shinobi World War. She pursued the masked fighter later identified as Shigemitsu, but halted her attack when he claimed to be Anyo’s child. She refused to accept him as her younger brother after learning he was an artificial human 477 487.

Kikyo accompanied Kushina to Naruto, freed Naruto and Killer B from Nagato with a Splitting Arrow, and later sealed Nagato with another arrow. When Anyo disappeared inside a seal, she recovered his sword and sought help from Mikoto and White Fang, enabling White Fang to locate him 493 496 497.

After Anyo’s victory over Kaguya and Madara, Kikyo was shown petting Kaguya in rabbit form. She later joined Koyuki’s Sailor Moon film and brought Anyo to meet its director-star, before revealing that Yugao had gone missing 511 520.

Appearance

• Features: Described as exceptionally beautiful, with delicate features and graceful movements. Haku immediately notices her resemblance to Anyo 364 376.
• Eyes: Normally black; can manifest Three-Tomoe Sharingan or purple, concentrically ringed Rinnegan 417.
• Forehead marking: Moon in the Well leaves a crescent moon on her forehead. It becomes a full moon when she releases the seal to access her Rinnegan 418 446.
• Resemblance to Tsunade: With theatrical makeup, she achieves an approximately eighty-percent resemblance to her mother’s younger self 385.
• Early disguise: Wears a rabbit mask when approaching Naruto outside Tanzaku Town 344.

Personality

Kikyo is outwardly well-behaved but strongly adventurous. She enjoys missions as opportunities for exploration and resists being excluded from the ninja world. Her desire for independence also makes her resent secret bodyguards and special treatment based on being the Hokage’s daughter 351 412 444.

Her kindness comes largely from Tsunade’s upbringing. Early in her career, she holds back against enemies rather than treating every encounter as a lethal battle. Witnessing Jiraiya’s death challenges that sheltered outlook without erasing her compassion 373 445.

She is quick-witted, socially perceptive, and willing to tease her parents. She recognizes Haku’s sincerity, tries to reconcile Anyo and Tsunade, and openly criticizes Anyo’s complicated romantic life. Around her younger siblings, she is affectionate and patient; both children remain unusually content in her care 376 395 418 516.

Archery and Spatial Arrows

Kikyo’s primary fighting style combines Monster Strength, Sharingan targeting, and soul reconnaissance. Anyo designs it to let her locate and attack enemies from extreme range 365.

• Power: Her specialized bow launches arrows too quickly for even Anyo to track during its first test 370.
• Special ammunition: Uses Splitting Arrows, Explosive Arrows, sealing arrows, and the Arrow of Demon-Breaking 412 487 493.
• Spatial shot: Her transparent arrow gathers surrounding light and manipulates space. Obito observes that once it locks on, ordinary evasion cannot avoid it 414.
• Exertion: The shot that brings down Deidara leaves her too weak to pursue him 414.

Lightning Domain and Other Ninjutsu

Lightning Domain forms a resilient defensive covering with relatively modest demands on the user’s body and chakra. Anyo teaches it to Kikyo, and it is refined during her time in Konoha 414.
