Background / History

Childhood and Meeting Wumu

Ganazi was sent away as a child to conquer another planet, but a meteorite collision caused him to crash on a remote world. He survived there on wild fruit and beasts, never carrying out his intended invasion. By the time Wumu encountered him, he had reached a power level of 12,000 21 53.

Initially mistaking Wumu for another Saiyan, Ganazi greeted him excitedly. After Wumu threatened him, Ganazi’s Scouter revealed the enormous difference between their strength, and he asked to follow him. Wumu allowed him to stay because he lacked a strong savage aura. Ganazi subsequently learned the truth about Planet Vegeta’s destruction and the existence of other surviving Saiyans 21.

Yardrat and Earth

After increasing his strength through recovery training and a Tree of Might fruit, Ganazi accompanied Wumu to Planet Yardrat. Elder Pybara directed them toward spiritual cultivation, which gradually replaced Ganazi’s violent ki with gentler, steadier power. Once their initial training ended, Pybara agreed to teach them several Yardratian techniques 22 24.

On Earth, Ganazi explored West City with considerable curiosity. Jaco confronted him as an “evil Saiyan,” prompting Ganazi to disarm him and crush his gun before leaving rather than causing further trouble. At Kame House, Ganazi discussed Wumu’s past with Master Roshi and concluded that his lord was searching for a personal path rather than strength alone 47 48 49.

Super Saiyan Training

Ganazi accompanied Wumu along Snake Way and visited King Kai before entering the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. There, Wumu explained two methods of becoming a Super Saiyan and confirmed that Ganazi had fulfilled the prerequisites 53 54 56.

His successful transformation brought a surge of arrogance. Believing himself nearly invincible, Ganazi attacked Wumu, who effortlessly defeated him and healed him with a Senzu Bean. Wumu warned that continued resistance could cost him his life, then instructed him to maintain the transformation while calming his mind. Ganazi eventually mastered Super Saiyan Full Power 57 58 59.

After leaving the chamber, he helped Wumu recover pirate treasure and prepare to establish a martial arts school. Wumu later entrusted him with looking after the Ultimate Path School, where he also helped with arrangements for the king’s visit 63 76 77.

Training Raditz and Attaining Godhood

Following Wumu’s earlier instructions, Ganazi refused to intervene when Raditz confronted Son Goku. He later saved the gravely injured Raditz, explaining that losing another of the few surviving Saiyans would be a waste. He took him to Spirit Heart Lake for mental cultivation, daily sparring, and recovery-based growth 81 86 87.

Over a year, the two grew close. When Wumu challenged Raditz’s worth as a follower, Ganazi knelt and pleaded for his acceptance, asking for a brother at his side. Wumu agreed, then offered both Saiyans a choice between godhood and genetic atavistic evolution. Ganazi chose the former and became a Super Saiyan God with Wumu’s guidance 99 100.

Namek and the GT Timeline

Wumu sent Ganazi and Raditz to Namek to carry out his plans, repay his debt to the Grand Elder, and settle their grudge against Frieza. Ganazi eventually intercepted Frieza and slammed him into the ground with overwhelming force. After Frieza was dealt with, the pair transported Goku’s group and explained how to transform before departing 108 121 122.

Ganazi later entered an abandoned spacetime universe with Wumu and Raditz, arriving in the GT Timeline. They accompanied Goku to the Sacred World of the Kai, where Wumu instructed them to cultivate ki and God Ki and taught them the Kaioken cultivation method. Five years later, Ganazi asked whether they should visit Earth following the Black Star Dragon Balls incident, but Wumu told him to wait 126 129 133 139.

His years of isolation left him unfamiliar with other worlds, and Earth’s skyscrapers, hovering cars, and civilian technology fascinated him. Under Wumu and Pybara, he came to regard inner peace and ki control—not merely physical power—as essential to strength 21 24 48.

His pride was not immediately erased. Becoming a Super Saiyan made him reckless enough to challenge Wumu, and his defeat forced him to confront his remaining resistance. He subsequently committed himself more firmly to following Wumu and learned to maintain a peaceful mind while transformed 57 58 59 60.

Ganazi becomes increasingly considerate: he avoids escalating his encounter with Jaco and quietly builds a bed so as not to disturb nearby villagers. His attachment to the surviving Saiyans is especially strong, motivating him to save Raditz, plead for his acceptance, and encourage him to face his feelings toward his family. He remains teasing with Raditz but can be cold and distant toward unfamiliar counterparts of people he already knows 48 65 100 124 129.
