Life in the Dragon Clan World

Constantine once lived beneath a dam without causing trouble. Lu Chen later recalls that outsiders broke into his home and took him away, citing his treatment as an example of humans hunting dragons for their valuable remains 70.

Constantine remembers his final moments as searching for his older brother at a school, only for his brother to ignore him. He also encountered someone he calls “Holy Spirit,” who no longer recognized him and shot him dead. Constantine does not understand why he subsequently appeared alive in Nibelungen 63.

Arrival in Nibelungen

When Lu Chen enters Nibelungen after his Jiao Snake Spirit Soul transforms, he finds Constantine and Fenrir examining it. Constantine immediately asks about his older brother, then promises to protect Lu Chen after being assured that they will eventually reunite. He also notices that Lu Chen smells like his father 10.

Following information supplied by the World Tree, Constantine explains that either dragon can replace the Jiao Snake as Lu Chen’s first Spirit Soul. Fenrir volunteers so that he can explore the outside world; Constantine chooses to remain in Nibelungen, guard their home, and help Lu Chen learn alchemy 10 11.

Alchemy Instructor and Second Spirit Soul

Constantine becomes fascinated by Lu Chen’s Storage Soul Guidance Device and begins adapting Dragon Clan Alchemy to the technology of this world. He subsequently teaches Lu Chen how to communicate with metal, supplies an alchemical sword, and continues instructing him in alchemy 14 15 20 24 50.

Despite his wish to see his brother, Constantine does not want to return to the Dragon Clan world. He asks whether everyone can remain in Nibelungen forever once his brother and the others arrive, but offers only “It’s very nice here” when Lu Chen asks why 28.

The arrival of Li Wuyue’s remains prompts Constantine, Fenrir, and Lu Chen to question why the two resident dragons are alive. Constantine suggests a connection to their father and explains that the King of Sky and Wind’s faction supported the White King’s rebellion and later hunted dragons belonging to the Black King’s faction. No explanation is confirmed before he accepts Lu Chen’s invitation to become his second Spirit Soul 63.

Appearance

• Childlike appearance: A small face, soft hair, large amber eyes, and a soft voice 10.
• Draconic appearance: Crimson-gold scales, an enormous dragon head, claws, and a long tail 20.
• Eyes: Faint flames burn within his eyes when he appears in dragon form 20.
• Expressive tail: His tail sways when he becomes excited about alchemy 14.

Personality

Constantine is normally timid and soft-spoken. Fenrir remarks that he quickly hides from strangers, while Lu Chen regards him as resembling a child who never grew up. His attachment to his older brother overrides that shyness: the prospect of their reunion immediately makes him enthusiastic and willing to protect Lu Chen 10 14.

Alchemy transforms his demeanor. While examining unfamiliar technology, he becomes animated, outspoken, and intensely focused, enthusiastically praising good craftsmanship while criticizing inefficient arrays. Once praised himself, however, he grows embarrassed and retreats into his usual modest manner 14 15.

He is a patient teacher who explains techniques in detail rather than merely correcting mistakes. Despite remembering his own death, he explicitly denies bearing humans ill will, saying that he only wants his brother 20 63.

Dragon Clan Alchemy

Lu Chen regards Constantine as the greatest master of alchemy. Constantine can recognize the similarities between Dragon Clan arrays and human Soul Guidance technology despite differences in their resonance patterns 14.

Constantine can rapidly produce weapons with functional alchemical runes. He warns that rushed work limits a weapon’s power, though his quickly forged longsword is sufficient for Lu Chen’s contemporary Soul Power level 24.

Spirit Soul Fusion

Constantine voluntarily binds himself to Lu Chen as his second Spirit Soul. The fusion transfers alchemical knowledge and grants a golden Soul Ring, but subjects Lu Chen to severe pain and scorching sensations throughout his body 63.

• Upgraded storage device from Mang Tian — Expands its storage space to more than three times its original capacity and enables it to hold living things. Lu Chen tests its new function with a butterfly 14 15.
• Modified storage device from Zhang Huanyun — Incorporates hidden internal alchemical patterns at Lu Chen’s request, keeping its modifications invisible from the outside 28 29.
• Alchemical longsword — Initially described as a three-foot, pitch-black blade with dark-gold patterns. It increases Word Spirit output by thirty percent and permits Royal Fire without chanting 24.
• Dragon-patterned forging hammer — Given to Lu Chen and used during his half soul refinement attempt on heavy silver 87.

Relationships

• Lu Chen — Student, companion, and eventual Spirit Soul host. Constantine promises to protect him, teaches him alchemy, and equips him with modified devices and weapons 10 15 20 24 63.
• Older brother / Old Tang — Constantine’s central emotional attachment. Lu Chen knows Old Tang from playing games and views caring for Constantine as looking after a friend’s younger brother 10.
• Fenrir — Fellow resident of Nibelungen and Lu Chen’s first Spirit Soul. They watch God of Gamblers together; Fenrir also teases Constantine about his shyness and enthusiasm for metalwork 14 15 24.
