Background / History
Lin Mengxi brought the abandoned Lu Chen to the orphanage and continued visiting him frequently. She did not adopt him because she felt unable to take responsibility for another life; Lu Chen likewise avoided asking, unwilling to become a burden to her 1.
On the day of Lu Chen's Martial Soul Awakening, she pulled him away from a dangerous second-floor balcony and reminded him about the ceremony. When Ji Shi mocked him as a “freak,” she turned the insult into encouragement by joking that Shrek also meant “monster” and that he might someday attend Shrek Academy 1.
After Lu Chen awakened an Earth Dragon Martial Soul with rank-five Innate Soul Power, Lin Mengxi welcomed him as her student. She personally escorted him to Red Mountain Academy for classes and became the homeroom teacher of both Lu Chen and Tang Wulin. Personality
Lin Mengxi combines affectionate care with firm discipline. She scolds Lu Chen for endangering himself, but also hugs him, ruffles his hair, and reassures him that her affection does not depend on whether he awakens Soul Power. In the classroom, she explicitly forbids students from mocking their classmates 1 2 3.
She supports Lu Chen's education without treating cultivation as more important than his well-being. Although she helps him prepare for Eastsea Academy, she struggles to hide her reluctance to part with him and nearly cries when they embrace 11 12.
