Background / History
Departure from Earth
Tights met Galactic Patrolman Jaco while he was on a mission to Earth. When he left, she insisted on accompanying him aboard his spaceship. By the time she met Turles, she had spent more than ten years away from Earth and was gathering material for her novels during her travels 19.
Mistaking Turles for a fellow Earthling, she enthusiastically introduced herself and questioned him about his work. Although she did not know Earth’s coordinates, she offered to ask Jaco to take him home. She was unaware that the Galactic Patrol restricted the circulation of planetary coordinates 19.
Capture and Forced Employment
During Morton’s coup on Planet Kalen, also called Karen in the text, Tights was sheltering with government officials. Acting as a Galactic Patrol auxiliary member, she had warned them about the crisis and claimed that the Patrol had been contacted. Turles found her after breaking into the government bunker and forced her to leave with him 25.
Aboard his ship, Turles declared her a temporary member of the Turles Crusher Corps, assigned her a room, and ordered his crew not to bother her. Discovering his tail exposed his Saiyan identity and intensified her fear that he intended to invade Earth. She later admitted that she lacked a direct way to contact Galactic Patrol headquarters and had been out of touch with Jaco for more than half a year 26 27.
Once Turles obtained Earth’s coordinates elsewhere, he threatened to treat Tights as a worthless prisoner unless she became his subordinate. She agreed to survive. Her first assignment was a biographical novel portraying Frieza as a guardian of universal peace—a premise she opposed as dishonest 36 37.
Namek and Return to Earth
Tights accompanied Turles and Cacao to Planet Namek after Turles made staying behind conditional on accepting restrictions. Nail escorted them to the Grand Elder, who allowed all three visitors inside. They later departed Namek together and reached Earth, where Tights celebrated her homecoming and offered to treat her companions to Earth food 39 40 44 46.
At Kami’s Lookout, she mistook Son Goku for Turles before concluding that he must be Turles’s younger brother. Turles subsequently allowed that misunderstanding to stand. Tights reunited with Bulma at the Lookout and with her parents at Capsule Corporation after more than a decade apart 48 50 53 55.
Work with the Sixth Branch
Tights began documenting Turles’s relief efforts and published a popular booklet that made him—not Frieza—the hero. Turles demanded a rewrite, forbade further sequels, and threatened to send her back to Earth if she failed again. The resulting Frieza biography spread through the Sixth Branch over the following year and helped change outsiders’ impressions of the Frieza Force 63 65.
After Turles disappeared, Tights became listless until Bulma brought news that he was alive but apparently outside their timeline. She then filled her days with the foundation’s welfare projects and the Frieza Force biography, personally overseeing work across multiple planets to keep herself from dwelling on his absence 107 114.
Her responsibilities expanded to managing the Sixth Branch’s growing population and planets. Bulma noticed that she had become markedly more composed and responsible, though their conversation left open whether that transformation had made her happier 151.
Galactic Patrol Cooperation and Documentary
When escaped criminals overwhelmed the Galactic Patrol, Jaco approached Tights on Planet Aixin. She was directing an aid event for impoverished children and received the patrolmen at the Tights Foundation. Treating the crisis as the Sixth Branch’s responsibility as well, she contacted the base and helped broker an agreement to deploy a peacekeeping force 164 165.
Following the battle against the Heeters, Tights reported rising support among newly incorporated planets and agreed to turn encrypted Namek battle footage into a documentary. Broadcast across Frieza Force networks and interstellar channels, it increased admiration for Frieza and Turles. After its release, voluntary interstellar tax payments more than quadrupled and elite recruitment applications surged 206.
Later Activities
- Future travelers: Wished Trunks and Son Goten happiness before their return to the future, calling both boys her nephews 284.
- Trunks’s birth: Worried that a different name for Bulma’s newborn might affect the future boy’s existence; Bulma’s choice of “Trunks” reassured her 323.
- Buu’s House: Paid for the house’s construction, allowing her access while other visitors were stopped by security 386.
Appearance
- Hair: Long, golden-blonde hair, initially worn loose and later tied back while working 151 386.
- Youthful features: Appears teenage despite being almost forty. Turles associates her resistance to aging with her similarly youthful mother 50 55.
- Early clothing: Favors fresh, energetic styles; wears a plain dress during the coup and carries a Capsule Corporation-logo backpack when first meeting Turles 19 25 151.
- Professional clothing: Later adopts a structured dark business suit, reflecting her more mature, composed demeanor 151.
Personality
Tights is initially enthusiastic, curious, and unusually carefree. She eagerly takes notes about unfamiliar occupations and turns even her frightening confinement aboard Turles’s ship into potential writing material. Her curiosity repeatedly draws her out of safety, including when she investigates his punishing training sessions 19 26 35.
Despite her fear of Turles, she challenges his involvement in the invasion of Karen and initially resolves to expose him to the Galactic Patrol rather than help him reach Earth. Her professional objections are equally strong: she insists that fiction and biography are different, and that a biography must be truthful 26 31 37.
She is sensitive about lacking the scientific talent shared by her father and Bulma. Turles’s acknowledgment of her literary ability surprises her, especially because he tries to disguise his reassurance as concern for her productivity 56.
Turles’s disappearance changes her from a lively, excitable traveler into a calm, resolute organizer. She takes on work because it needs doing, but Bulma questions whether duty alone is enough to make her happy 114 151.
