Sasuke escaped toward Orochimaru after defeating Naruto, who recovered in Konoha Hospital, while Yugao confessed her love and Jiraiya learned of Tsunade’s return.

• Zhang Yu completed several badge pairings, summoned Hagoromo and Hamura, and gained Six Paths Power and Ten-Tails-level Chakra.
• After learning Sasuke had defected, Zhang Yu organized pursuit teams and tracked him while the Genin fought the Sound Four.
• Zhang Yu recruited Tayuya after removing her Cursed Seal, and Kimimaro died fighting Yamato and the pursuit squad.

Zhang Yu assembled a team to gather the Tailed Beasts, recruited Tsunade as a tavern employee, and became Acting Hokage while pursuing an alliance among the nations. In the Land of Water, Kurama subdued the rampaging Three-Tails, and Zhang Yu told Mei Terumi he had come to seek an alliance.

• Naruto left Konoha with Jiraiya to train, while Zhang Yu opened a wellness tea house and later prepared to leave Konoha with a team to collect the Tailed Beasts.
• Zhang Yu arranged for Yugao, Kurenai Yuhi, and Anko to help Shizune manage the Hokage office while Tsunade traveled with him.
• At a hot spring town, Zhang Yu and his companions encountered Kakuzu and Hidan, then tricked them into investigating the Six-Tails in the Land of Water.
• Zhang Yu followed Tsunade to a gambling hall, exposed its cheating, and later offered her a job at the Undead Tavern, restoring her to her youthful form.
• Zhang Yu became Acting Hokage and accepted a quest to negotiate alliances with the Five Great Nations, beginning with the Land of Fire.
• Zhang Yu and Kurama reached the lake near Kirigakure, where Mei Terumi’s Sealing Squad struggled to contain the rampaging Three-Tails.
• Kurama defeated the Three-Tails and made it submit, while Zhang Yu sheltered the exhausted Mei Terumi and told her he had come to seek an alliance.
