Three days later, Akame made it back to the base ahead of the world-destroying beast. By then, the imperial capital was already in utter chaos. Night Raid's existence alone had left the capital's ministers with their hands full, and now an incomparably terrifying Danger Beast had appeared. Of the teams the Empire had sent to investigate it, none who came within fifty kilometers of it had returned alive.
After returning to the base, Akame discovered many more Teigu users there. She asked Boss about the situation and learned that Night Raid intended to loot a burning house this time, completely removing the malignant tumor that was the minister.
Akame frowned. The minister could be removed at any time, but if the imperial capital lost him now, it might collapse completely.
For a moment, Akame found herself caught in a dilemma. Lin Ran had cautioned her not to reveal her true strength for the time being.
"Boss, have you considered who will deal with that world-destroying beast if a major battle breaks out now? Why not wait until it's been dealt with before taking care of the minister?"
"Akame, people die in war. Even you and I are prepared to die, aren't we?"
Akame gave Boss a complicated look, then turned and left.
That night, accompanied by a startled cry from Akame, Lin Ran finally got to taste meat. More than two hours later, he fell asleep holding a dazed Akame.
Early the next morning, Akame looked at her torn clothes and gave Divine Abyss's blade an annoyed pat.
Two days later, as the world-destroying beast approached, all of Night Raid mobilized as well, charging toward the imperial capital. Akame led the way, with Kurome, Sheele, and Mine following behind.
Standing atop the imperial capital's towering walls, Akame went no farther. When Kurome and the other two saw her stop, they naturally stopped as well.
Akame turned to face the direction of the world-destroying beast. Boss came over then, too, and understood Akame's meaning at a glance: she would not participate in this conflict.
Boss frowned almost imperceptibly but said nothing. With Bulat, Leone, and the others' current strength, they were more than capable of crushing the Empire's Teigu users anyway.
Most importantly, she could no longer see through Akame's strength at all. Kurome felt terrifying to her, even more terrifying than Esdeath had been back then, while Akame stood there like an ordinary person. If Divine Abyss had not been floating beside her, she would have thought Akame had been switched out.
As the world-destroying beast's body, hundreds of meters tall, slowly approached, terrifying, scorching shock waves radiated from it, wiping out every living thing within dozens of kilometers.
At that moment, every human in the imperial capital was waiting for the Teigu users to deal with the world-destroying beast. Unfortunately, as it approached, not a single person went to stop it. Instead, people kept fleeing.
"Have we been abandoned?" a man murmured, his face full of terror.
"Help! Run!"
The imperial capital immediately descended into chaos. Not only were ordinary citizens fleeing for their lives, but the ministers at court were fleeing as well.
"Your Majesty, only by deploying The Supreme Throne might we destroy that Danger Beast and those rebels!" The minister led the young emperor to a secret chamber.
Moments later, dazzling light erupted from the highest point of the palace. An enormous mech burst through the palace and looked down upon everyone.
"Kurome, go take The Supreme Throne. Divine Abyss needs it," Akame ordered calmly. Kurome nodded her little head and charged toward the palace, holding a box of candy.
"Huh? Do you need me to help?" Sheele asked airheadedly.
"No. You two just stay here and watch. You're too weak. Taking part in this battle would put your lives in danger."
Akame was telling the truth. Neither Kurome's battle against The Supreme Throne nor her own battle against the world-destroying beast was something the two could participate in. They could still join in the fun with the former, but Kurome was strong enough to deal with the little emperor, so there was no need for the two girls to add to the chaos.
After waiting a little longer, when the people on the outskirts of the imperial capital could already feel the scorching heat radiating from the world-destroying beast, Akame finally moved. She leaped from the wall and slashed fiercely. A thousand-foot sword gleam tore through the shock waves and struck the beast with undiminished force.
Akame frowned. This world-destroying beast's body was exceptionally tough as well. It had actually taken the blow head-on, and from the looks of it, suffered no substantial damage.
The world-destroying beast stopped in its tracks then, too. It lowered its head to study the human before it, unable to understand how such a tiny body could unleash such powerful energy.
"Heaven-Opening!" Akame murmured, unleashing Divine Abyss's first ultimate technique without hesitation. An enormous sword phantom plunged straight down from the clouds.
Sensing danger, the world-destroying beast roared at the sky. Crimson light erupted from its body, and shock waves burst forth one after another as though they cost nothing.
"Heavenly-Ruin!" Having made her move, Akame went all out, unleashing the second ultimate technique as well. She slashed fiercely, sending a gold-and-red sword gleam hundreds of zhang long tearing through the earth toward the world-destroying beast. Before the incoming shock waves even reached the sword gleam, the sword intent radiating from it shattered them all.
The Danger Beast slammed a claw into the ground. The crimson light on its body abruptly deepened as it pushed its defenses to the limit.
An earth-shaking howl rang out. Nearly a third of the world-destroying beast's body had been sliced away.
"God-Annihilation!" With some difficulty, Akame unleashed the strongest ultimate technique she could currently use. Golden-red and purplish-black light intertwined along Divine Abyss's blade, and two enormous dragons formed from sword qi tore through space and charged toward the world-destroying beast.
An earth-shattering collision rang out. When the dust cleared, the world-destroying beast's mangled body had already lost all signs of life.
Devouring power swept an incomparably vast mass of eerie origin essence into Divine Abyss. Lin Ran let out a moan of pleasure. This feeling was simply wonderful!
Akame likewise narrowed her eyes, enjoying the power Divine Abyss fed back to her. This single world-destroying beast improved her strength more than all the previous Super Danger Beasts combined.
Every member of the defending army stood dumbfounded. That godlike figure from moments ago was forever engraved in their minds.
"Wow! Akame became this strong without us even noticing?" Mine exclaimed in amazement. Sheele nodded airheadedly as well.
"Let's go. We'll head to the palace and settle the conflict between all the Teigu users!"
Akame jumped onto the wall and led the two toward the palace. At that moment, Kurome was locked in a fierce battle with The Supreme Throne, piloted by the little emperor.
Looking at the towering Supreme Throne, Lin Ran could not help nodding. It truly lived up to its title of Guardian God of the Nation. Once Purge Mode was activated, it far surpassed the other Teigu. And this was with the little emperor being a noob, unable to truly bring out The Supreme Throne's power.
"Scare the little emperor unconscious and force him to deactivate The Supreme Throne."
Akame nodded. She was much stronger now than she had been just moments ago. She immediately unleashed the first ultimate technique, Heaven Opening, and a thousand-zhang sword phantom plunged straight toward The Supreme Throne.
The sword intent gathered upon it pierced through The Supreme Throne and bore straight down on the little emperor, shattering his mind outright. This had not merely scared him unconscious-it had scared him witless!
The Supreme Throne's movements halted, and then it vanished. The little emperor appeared amid the ruins. A figure shot straight toward him as though she had been prepared all along. It was Najenda, the leader of Night Raid!
Akame's figure flashed, and in the next instant, she was beside the little emperor. She picked him up, and with a thought, Lin Ran stripped away The Supreme Throne and handed it straight over to System for recycling.
