Personality

Akame is a vigilant professional assassin. While observing Tatsumi’s first mission, she appears relaxed but continuously surveys her surroundings, and Najenda trusts her experience enough to direct most of her warnings toward Tatsumi instead 17. She also enjoys cooking and regularly prepares Night Raid’s meals; even after dinner, she sometimes goes to the river to roast more fish 15 16 19.

Protecting innocents is central to her decisions. She urges Esdeath to stop serving as the Empire’s instrument of slaughter, rejects the idea that Teigu wielders must automatically kill one another, and turns against the Revolutionary Army when its soldiers begin enslaving and killing villagers 24 26 31. She teaches Zi Xing that unchecked desire corrupts people and that order can restrain their darker impulses 31.

Her rule is nevertheless coercive and frequently lethal. She kills Teigu users who ignore her summons, orders the Revolutionary Army’s destruction, and annihilates towns during her Western Empire campaign 28 31 33 34. Toward those close to her, she is considerably softer: she embraces Kurome upon their reunion, protects Zi Xing, and grants Mine and Leone preferential access to visualization training 23 28 31.

Swordsmanship and Assassination

Akame combines professional assassination experience with sustained sword practice and instruction from Lin Ran 16 17.

History

Joining with Divine Abyss

Akame first appears during Night Raid’s attack on Aria’s residence, where she defeats Tatsumi. As the group prepares to withdraw, Lin Ran approaches her in the form of Divine Abyss. The sword chooses her, consumes Murasame, and accompanies Night Raid back to its base 14.

Their binding unlocks Feedback, beginning her rapid growth. Lin Ran subsequently assumes human form as Divine Abyss’s “sword spirit” and trains with her, while Akame helps Mine and Sheele learn to wield his sword avatars 15 16.

Night Raid Missions and Danger Beast Hunts

Akame oversees Tatsumi’s assassination of Ogre and confirms that he has passed her test. On the return journey, her first Special Class Danger Beast kill reveals that Divine Abyss can strengthen her through absorbed energy. She begins hunting more powerful creatures, though Lin Ran must initially rescue her from corrupted Super Danger Beasts 17 20.

Her increasing strength allows her to defeat Zank and later kill two of Esdeath’s Three Beasts. She also helps Sheele and Mine obtain Feedback by disabling Danger Beasts for them to finish with their Blades of Devouring 18 19 21.

Reuniting with Kurome and Defeating Esdeath

Lin Ran brings Kurome to Akame and persuades her to leave the Jaegers and stop killing innocents. Akame embraces her sister, demonstrates how far her strength has advanced, and brings her into Night Raid, whose members accept her on Akame’s assurance 23 24.

Before taking Kurome north to train, Akame confronts Esdeath at the imperial palace. She asks the general to abandon the Empire’s atrocities, then defeats her when Esdeath makes victory a condition of considering the proposal. Akame deliberately spares her; Esdeath resigns her imperial positions and promises another challenge 24.

World-Destroying Beast Crisis

Ten World-Destroying Seeds descend while Akame and Kurome are hunting in the north. Even after an Emperor Heart Pill enhancement, Akame is warned that she cannot yet defeat the resulting beasts. The sisters continue rescuing settlements and hunting infected Danger Beasts until Divine Abyss unlocks its second form 25 26.

Returning to Night Raid, Akame opposes Najenda’s decision to overthrow the minister while a World-Destroying Beast approaches the capital. She initially stays out of the uprising, then kills the beast when its heat threatens the city. At the palace, she incapacitates the little emperor inside The Supreme Throne and takes custody of him 27.

Founding the Divine Dragon Empire

Akame establishes the Guardian Temple over the former palace and proclaims the Divine Dragon Empire. She summons the world’s Teigu users, kills those who fail to appear within three minutes, and places the remaining wielders under a new legal order. Those unwilling to serve are permitted to surrender their Teigu and leave unharmed 28.

She delegates administration while hunting the remaining World-Destroying Beasts. During the campaign, she rescues Zi Xing from a ruined town and takes her under her protection. Thirty-seven days later, the final beast falls; Akame returns to find herself honored as the empire’s Guardian God and first ruler 28 29.

Revolutionary Army and Western Empire Campaigns

Akame begins preparing Zi Xing as her successor, teaching her swordsmanship and asking her to study the national laws. She also recruits five abused girls to assist with the empire’s future administration 29 30.

After discovering Revolutionary Army soldiers attacking villagers, she orders the army’s remnants eliminated and punishes Najenda for failing to contain their abuses. She then travels west with Zi Xing and Sheele, fighting soldiers, foreign tribesmen, and Danger Beasts along the way 31 32.

In the Western Empire, she rescues two trafficked sisters and seeks the trading company responsible for abducting women. Her group destroys towns and defeats successive waves of bounty hunters before confronting the Source of the Anomaly, which possesses the Western ruler 33 34 35.

Defeating the Anomaly and Passing the Throne

The possessed sovereign initially overwhelms Akame, forcing Lin Ran to intervene. After half a month of joint cultivation and Divine Abyss’s upgrade, she returns strong enough to dominate their rematch. Crimson God Slash defeats the sovereign and grievously wounds the anomalous will as it escapes his body; Akame then absorbs the puppet army’s draining energy, ending the invasion 35 36 37.

Akame travels the world with Lin Ran, Sheele, and Zi Xing before returning to the empire. She later spends years with Lin Ran and Sheele at Night Raid’s former base and eventually passes the throne to Zi Xing 37 38.
