Power Progression
- Mythic grade is a System-created exception, not an established rank among the original Teigu. The documented upgrades below concern Divine Abyss and its modified avatars rather than a universal Teigu advancement system 14 21.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Divine Abyss — mythic-grade base form | 14 | The System transforms Lin Ran’s battered sword body using over one million Origin Points. It describes the result as stronger than The Supreme Throne. |
| Divine Abyss — Murasame absorbed | 14 15 | Devours and breaks Murasame, acquiring access to its Curse Poison. |
| Divine Abyss — Feedback unlocked | 15 | Binding Akame unlocks its third trait, increasing her stamina, strength, and agility. |
| Divine Abyss — Ice and Fire Two Aspects Saintly Intent awakened | 25 | Awakened after Lin Ran gives Akame an Emperor Heart Pill; her strength rises sharply. |
| Dragon Abyss — modified fusion | 26 | Kurome’s Blade of Devouring is fused with Yatsufusa through System modification. It surpasses an ordinary Blade of Devouring but remains below Divine Abyss. |
| Divine Abyss — second form | 26 | Absorbs anomalous origin power from a Super Danger Beast and transforms after enduring tribulation lightning. |
| Divine Abyss — further transformation | 29 | Transforms alongside Akame after the final World-Destroying Beast is killed. No new form name is supplied. |
| Sheele’s Blade of Devouring — upgraded | 30 | Lin Ran spends three million Origin Points upgrading it. |
| Divine Abyss — upgraded before the sovereign rematch | 36 | Upgraded during half a month of preparation. The sovereign explicitly notices its increased power. |
Characteristics and Use
Power Sources and Forms
- Super Danger Beasts are identified as the source of Teigu’s immense power 17.
- Their forms vary considerably: Murasame and Yatsufusa are swords, Black Marlin is a ring, Lionelle enables bodily transformation, and Hundred-Armed Giant is a battle-pet-type Teigu 19 20 21 22.
- Only a handful of ordinary Teigu users can contend with a Super Danger Beast. One young wielder defending a town can delay such a beast but cannot defeat it 26.
Wielder Compatibility
- A prospective user must find a compatible Teigu. Tatsumi fails to use a recovered Teigu but later gains Hundred-Armed Giant’s recognition 19 21.
- Akame states that a person can normally wield only one Teigu 21.
- Divine Abyss is an exception: Lin Ran explains that it is not truly a conventional Teigu, allowing Akame to consider using Black Marlin alongside it 21.
- Fighting another Teigu user is not an unavoidable requirement. Akame tells a young wielder that both the use of his power and the decision to kill remain his own choices 26.
Costs and Limitations
- Some Teigu consume their wielders’ life force. Heavenly Dao’s divine radiance later restores life force spent by users fighting the Western Empire’s puppet army 36.
- Divine Abyss does not drain Akame’s vitality or mental energy; her own strength determines how much of its power she can draw out 21.
- Teigu cannot bring dead people back to life, despite Tatsumi’s initial hopes 18.
Documented Teigu
| Teigu | Associated Wielder(s) | Documented Features and Fate |
|---|---|---|
| Divine Abyss | Akame; Lin Ran | An unrecorded mythic sword formed from the origin of devouring. Absorbs other Teigu’s powers and strengthens its bound wielder 14 15. |
| Demon Sword Murasame / One Cut Kill | Akame | Bears a certain-death curse. Devoured and snapped in two by Divine Abyss 14 15. |
| Five-Sight Omnipotent Observer | Zank the Beheader | Worn on Zank’s forehead and taken by Akame after she kills him 18. |
| King of Beasts Transformation: Lionelle | Leone | Enables Leone’s combat transformation. She activates it to fight the strengthened, barehanded Akame to a draw 19. |
| Operated Armor | Bulat | Armor associated with Bulat and noted as having recognized Tatsumi’s potential 18 20. |
| Hundred-Armed Giant / Xiaobi | Seryu; later Tatsumi | A battle-pet Teigu with a berserk form. After Seryu’s death, it recognizes Tatsumi and revives 20 21. |
| Nyau’s flute | Nyau | Used during the Three Beasts’ shipboard ambush; recycled by Lin Ran after Nyau’s defeat 21. |
| Black Marlin | Liver; later an unnamed sixteen-year-old girl uses the water Teigu | A ring Teigu effective wherever water is available. Akame declines it; a later wielder directs river water against the puppet army 21 36. |
| March of the Dead: Yatsufusa | Kurome | Later fused with a Blade of Devouring to create Dragon Abyss 22 26. |
| The Supreme Throne | The little emperor | Called the Guardian God of the Nation and regarded in historical accounts as the pinnacle of Teigu. Its Purge Mode far exceeds ordinary Teigu; Lin Ran recycles it after Akame defeats its pilot 15 27. |
Divine Abyss and Its Avatars
Devouring and Feedback
- Divine Abyss can absorb Teigu powers, including Murasame’s curse, because it is formed from the origin of devouring 14.
- Its Feedback trait transfers power to Akame, permanently improving her physical capabilities through repeated Danger Beast hunts 15 17 20.
- Without a wielder, it initially releases only a tiny fraction of its power 14.
- Its edge and absorbed Curse Poison do not harm Akame 15.
Blades of Devouring
- System-purchased Blades of Devouring serve as Divine Abyss’s clones or avatars. Their carriers allow Lin Ran to transfer directly to their locations 15.
- Recipients include Sheele, Mine, Bulat, Leone, Tatsumi, Lubbock, and Kurome 15 19 23.
- They absorb Danger Beast power and feed it back to their wielders, but less effectively than Divine Abyss’s main body and with an upper limit to their gains 18 19.
- During an early test, Lin Ran cannot communicate with Akame while occupying Sheele’s blade; communication resumes when he returns to the main body 15.
- Akame agrees to reclaim the avatars if their users turn their power against innocent people 23.
Recovery and Recycling
- Recovering enemy Teigu is one of Night Raid’s missions. Najenda sends captured examples to Revolutionary Army headquarters 16 18.
- Lin Ran can recycle captured Teigu through the System. Confirmed examples include Nyau’s flute and The Supreme Throne 21 27.
- He considers ordinary Teigu relatively low-value compared with hunting Super Danger Beasts, while identifying The Supreme Throne as a valuable recovery target 21.
History
Night Raid and the Fall of the Empire
Lin Ran enters the world as a battered sword because the System warns that possessing a human could provoke erasure by its abnormal Heavenly Dao. After becoming Divine Abyss, he chooses Akame, devours Murasame, and joins Night Raid through her. His Feedback ability and distributed avatars turn Danger Beast hunting into a means of strengthening the group 14 15 19.
Akame’s growing power eventually surpasses the Empire’s leading wielders. She defeats Esdeath, later kills the World-Destroying Beast approaching the capital, and incapacitates the little emperor inside The Supreme Throne. Lin Ran then recycles the imperial Teigu 24 27.
Guardian Temple Administration
Akame establishes the Guardian Temple and Divine Dragon Empire, ordering all Teigu users to assemble within three minutes. Twenty-nine arrive; those who refuse are killed, and fifteen recovered Teigu are offered for a new selection open to people aged fourteen or older 28.
The surviving wielders become administrators and enforcers charged with governing cities and maintaining order. Each later commands a legion, intervening personally against enemies the soldiers cannot defeat. Misconduct can result in loss of the right to wield a Teigu 28 31.
Lin Ran connects the Guardian Temple to Heavenly Dao, granting its Teigu users the ability to sense emotions. They also gain access to the Heart Visualization Diagram for training and later form the main defense against the Western Empire’s puppet invasion 29 30 36.
