Haruma manipulated the Akatsuki and the village delegations while Jiraiya died and Konan’s investigation uncovered Haruma’s control over Nagato and Yahiko. As the Five Kage Summit approached, Hiashi returned badly injured with a report that raised doubts about his account and the possibility of a wider betrayal.

• Madara summoned a meteor over Konoha, and Tsunade’s fighters destroyed it while Konan joined Konoha in exchange for sharing intelligence on the Akatsuki.
• Haruma impersonated Pain to direct the Akatsuki, then left Konoha with Shisui after Tsunade confronted them, and Sasuke reunited with Itachi and signed Haruma’s contract.
• Jiraiya confronted Haruma in Ryūchi Cave and was killed, while Konoha and the other villages prepared for the Five Kage Summit.
• Deidara and Sasori attacked the Land of Iron, but Tsunade, Raikage A, Kakashi, and their allies captured them as the delegations gathered.
• At the summit meeting, Itachi explained how the Jinchuriki survived extraction, while Shikaku suspected that two different Obitos might exist and Tsunade sent Konan and Hiashi to investigate Kirigakure.
• Konan confronted Obito in a strange space, where Haruma revealed that he controlled reanimated Nagato and Yahiko, and Black Zetsu then turned on Obito before an unseen attacker struck him with the Totsuka Blade.
• Haruma recruited Obito and Konan into his business, offering them work to earn money for resurrection fees, and showed them six pairs of Rinnegan.
• As the Five Kage Summit was set to begin, Hiashi returned alone and badly injured, claiming that reanimated First Hokage, Madara Uchiha, and Jiraiya had attacked him and Konan in the Land of Waves.
