Innate full Soul Power 6 Confirmed by Yu Xiaogang before the hunt for his first Soul Ring. Grandmaster recommends developing Blue Silver Grass toward control through toxicity, toughness, and entanglement.
First Soul Ring; level 13 Soul Master 9 Absorbs a Mandala Snake Soul Ring. A complication nearly kills him, but Qi Ling saves him; afterward, Tang San reports feeling completely well.
Soul Grandmaster 32 Confirmed as a Soul Grandmaster when the Shrek students are assigned their Soul Arena divisions. His second ring’s acquisition is not described in the supplied passages.
Level 30; awaiting a third Soul Ring 49 Breaks through shortly after Oscar absorbs his third Soul Ring. The long journey may have stimulated his Soul Power; the group continues searching for a suitable ring for him.
Third Soul Ring; Eight Spider Lances acquired 57 58 Completes absorption of a Man Faced Demon Spider's Soul Ring after Qi Ling's evolved Nine Heavens Dragon Roar helps him expel its evil thoughts. Eight Spider Lances emerge from his back, and Blue Silver Grass encloses him in a cocoon for a day and night.
Soul Power increases by one rank; complete integration of Eight Spider Lances 143 Under Zhi Lin's pressure test, fully integrates the Eight Spider Lances into his body, opens a meridian, advances his Mysterious Heaven Skill, and gains one Soul Power rank. The applied pressure reaches rank forty-five; this is not a statement of Tang San's own rank.
Immortal Herb absorption 155 233 Consumes octagonal mysterious ice grass and infernal delicate apricot. Their effects make the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well suitable for his cultivation rather than lethal to him.
Eight Spider Lances strengthened through devouring 233 Directly absorbs a Man Faced Demon Spider's power. His lances grow thicker and longer and develop red-and-white patterns.
Ten Thousand Year Fourth Soul Ring 233 270 455 Takes a Cave Demon Spider to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to absorb its ring. Later displays a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring in competition; the spider is subsequently confirmed as the source of his Fourth Soul Ring.
Clear Sky True Body demonstrated 330 331 Manifests the Clear Sky Hammer's Tool Soul True Body in a match against Qi Ling. The attack places his body and soul near their limits and can be unleashed only once in that confrontation; the passages do not establish this as his normal seven-ring realm.

Maternal Soul Bone absorbed; further Blue Silver Emperor transformation 406 Absorbs the Soul Bone left by Ah Yin during a three-day stay with Tang Hao, causing another transformation of his Martial Soul.
Level 60; awaiting a sixth Soul Ring 454 Advances from rank fifty-nine to sixty following several days of intense pressure.
Sixth Soul Ring; level 63 455 Absorbs the ninety-thousand-year ring of an Earth Tiger-Striped Cave Spider. Its compatibility with his Fourth Soul Ring reduces the difficulty of absorption, and the resulting Soul Power raises him three levels.
Sixth Soul Ring evolves to Hundred Thousand Year 456 Uses the Eight Spider Lances to devour additional spider power under Qi Ling's guidance. Energy from an Earth Tiger-Striped Cave Spider brings the ring close to evolution, and a Man Faced Demon Spider supplies the final energy needed to turn it scarlet.
Soul Bone armor begins forming 457 Continued absorption evolves the Eight Spider Lances and produces an incomplete suit of Soul Bone armor that greatly enhances his strength.
Martial Soul Avatar and two domains demonstrated 637 Uses his domains, Avatar, and Eight Spider Lances together while climbing the strengthened Sea God's Light. Reaches the forty-third step; his peak strength is described as comparable to an ordinary Titled Douluo.
Soul Douluo 715 716 Confirmed as a Soul Douluo during a spar with Qi Ling. His improved Clear Sky Hammer is still caught and then crushed by Qi Ling.
Level 90; awaiting the Blue Silver Martial Soul's Ninth Soul Ring 780 Adding four Soul Rings to the Clear Sky Hammer raises his Soul Power to level ninety.
Ninth Soul Ring; Titled Douluo 781 788 790 Defeats a Mandala Snake Emperor using the Clear Sky Hammer's vibrations and Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, then absorbs a Hundred Thousand Year Ninth Soul Ring.

Uncontrolled Asura Divine Power 912 913 914 After the Heart of the Ocean is removed, Asura Power overwhelms his consciousness. His Eight Spider Lances assume a winglike form, and he overpowers Tang Chen and seizes the Asura Blood Sword. This is an unstable possessed state rather than a controlled advancement.
Complete Sea God's Power; demigod level 919 921 Receives the Sea God's Power through Bo Saixi and completes the inheritance three days later. Gains Sea God's Eight Wings and Sea God Divine Armor, while his Soul Rings rise to a full set of Hundred Thousand Year rings. He must still refine his Godhood to obtain his first god ring and become a true god.
Sea-blue God Ring manifested 1105 1106 Appears with a sea-blue God Ring, Sea God Divine Armor, and fully evolved Wings of the Sea God when taking over the battle against a Ghost Clan general.

Background / History

Previous Life and Nuoding Academy

Tang San transmigrated from another world, separate from the world Qi Ling originally inhabited. He was the Tang Sect’s most outstanding genius and had secretly learned its greatest secrets 5 11 16.

At Nuoding Academy, he meets Qi Ling after a fight in which Tang San and his companions injured someone he mistakenly believes to be Qi Ling’s subordinate. Tang San apologizes, and the two immediately feel drawn toward friendship. Within the following days, Tang San formally becomes Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and receives instruction alongside Qi Ling 5 6.

First Soul Ring Hunt

Yu Xiaogang takes Tang San and Qi Ling into the Soul Hunting Forest to obtain their first Soul Rings. After rejecting several unsuitable beasts, they find a Mandala Snake whose traits closely match the intended development of Blue Silver Grass. A Dragon-Cry Golden Toad threatens to make the hunt impossible, and Tang San is prepared to abandon the opportunity rather than endanger everyone 7 8.

Qi Ling instead lends him a Barrett Sniper Rifle and teaches him its operation. Using Purple Demon Eye to aim, Tang San fires when the toad releases its stunning cry against the snake. He subsequently absorbs the Mandala Snake’s ring, surviving a dangerous complication through Qi Ling’s intervention 8 9.

Sworn Siblings

After a year at the academy, Tang San invites Qi Ling and Xiao Wu to spend the vacation at his home in Holy Soul Village. He arrives to find that Tang Hao has departed, leaving only a farewell letter. His friends help clean the neglected house, and Tang San cooks dinner for them 15 16.

The evening restores his sense of having a home. When he wishes they could truly be family, the three become sworn siblings: Qi Ling takes the eldest position, Tang San becomes the second brother, and Xiao Wu becomes their younger sister. Tang San and Qi Ling pledge to protect Xiao Wu even against enemies they cannot defeat 16.

After the vacation, five more years pass before the three graduate from Nuoding Academy and leave for Shrek Academy on Yu Xiaogang’s recommendation 16.

Shrek Academy

During Shrek’s entrance trial, Tang San and the other applicants are injured by Zhao Wuji. When Xiao Wu loses consciousness, Tang San intends to challenge Zhao alone, even if it means revealing all his hidden weapons. Qi Ling stops him, insisting that he remain with Xiao Wu while his elder brother handles the fight 21 22.

Tang San subsequently settles into Shrek and registers at the Soul Arena. He also examines Zhu Zhuqing after she suffers an unusual palm injury, but cannot devise a treatment; Qi Ling ultimately heals her 25 30 31 32.

On the journey to the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang San helps protect the group and controls the battle against Canghui Academy’s teacher, Ye Zhiqiu. During the forest expedition, he reaches level 30, prompting the search for his third Soul Ring 43 44 45 49.

When the Titan Giant Ape threatens Xiao Wu, Tang San inwardly prays for her rescue despite never having believed in gods. Qi Ling's arrival in golden armor initially seems to him like the descent of a god answering those prayers 54.

His third Soul Ring absorption becomes another life-threatening ordeal when the Man Faced Demon Spider's evil thoughts assault his mind. Qi Ling uses the newly evolved allied effect of Nine Heavens Dragon Roar to clear his consciousness, allowing Tang San to expel the thoughts and finish absorbing the ring. Eight Spider Lances emerge from his back, and he spends a day and night enclosed in a cocoon of Blue Silver Grass before awakening 57 58.

In a later spar, Tang San unleashes intricate hidden-weapon attacks and attempts to poison Qi Ling with the Eight Spider Lances, but neither method penetrates the Golden Sacred Dragon Armor 68.

Pressure Training and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well

During Zhi Lin's test, Tang San initially withstands Soul Power pressure with the Mysterious Heaven Skill alone. He brings out Blue Silver Grass at approximately rank-forty pressure and uses its vibrations to disperse force. When the pressure reaches rank forty-five, he breaks through his limits, fully integrates the Eight Spider Lances, opens a meridian, and raises his Soul Power by one rank 143.

At Qi Ling's urging, Tang San consumes octagonal mysterious ice grass and infernal delicate apricot according to the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. The herbs later enable him to use the otherwise deadly Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well as a cultivation haven 155 233.

Tang San subsequently recognizes Xiao Wu's true identity and is astonished to learn that Qi Ling has always known about both of them. Qi Ling reaffirms that their identities do not alter their place as his younger siblings, prompting Tang San to call meeting him the greatest fortune of his life 172.

Clear Sky Heritage and Academy Competition

Tang San reveals his Clear Sky Hammer while helping Tai Tan, allowing Tai Tan, Ning Fengzhi, and Gu Rong to recognize his Clear Sky heritage. Tai Tan later kneels before him with his son and grandson and explains Tang Hao's identity as a Titled Douluo and Tang San's origins in the Clear Sky Sect. Tang San receives the news with unusual composure, partly because Qi Ling has already described a much greater future for them 197 199.

After drawing Man Faced Demon Spider poison out of Qi Ling, Tang San follows his brother's advice and tests the Eight Spider Lances' ability to devour a Soul Beast directly. The process strengthens and alters the lances. He then takes a Cave Demon Spider to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to absorb a Ten Thousand Year Fourth Soul Ring 233 455.

Although his control skills prove valuable in competition, he later becomes uncertain whether Blue Silver Grass is too weak and whether he should abandon it in favor of the Clear Sky Hammer. At that time, he does not yet understand that his plant Martial Soul is the Blue Silver Emperor. Qi Ling asks Dugu Bo to help counsel him through this crisis 270 288.

Against Spirit Hall's team, Tang San uses the Eight Spider Lances to block Xie Yue's Self-Created Soul Skill despite suffering serious injuries. Hu Liena hesitates when given an opportunity to finish him, allowing his teammates to retrieve him and secure victory 323.

In a subsequent match against Qi Ling, Tang San manifests Clear Sky True Body. Its first collision knocks Qi Ling back and makes him cough blood, while its ultimate strike brings Tang San's body and soul to their limits 330 331.

Training with Tang Hao and Slaughter City

Under Tang Hao, Tang San learns the eighty-one strikes of Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. After completing the strength-and-technique stage, he trains beneath a waterfall using a wooden hammer to develop control. Qi Ling's pointers help him achieve the insight necessary to complete all eighty-one strikes and blast the waterfall aside 356 359.

By the time he arrives in Slaughter City, Tang San has awakened his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, transforming both his Martial Soul and his appearance. In the Hell Slaughter Arena, he kills nine opponents with Blue Silver Grass despite being unable to use Soul Skills, choosing swift deaths rather than prolonged suffering 383.

He also encounters Hu Liena in Slaughter City. The two survive life-and-death experiences together, while his changed appearance conceals his identity from her. During another confrontation, Qi Ling subdues him with the Xuanyuan Sword Realm, overcoming his hidden weapons, Blue Silver Grass, Clear Sky Hammer, and Blue Silver Domain 383 386 437.

After leaving Slaughter City, Tang San remains affected by its atmosphere and the Divine Slaughter's Domain. Tang Hao takes him to Moonlight Pavilion, where Tang Yuehua undertakes to cultivate his state of mind. He studies there for a year and graduates with much greater composure and polished etiquette 402 406 409.

Learning His Origins and Returning to the Clear Sky Sect

After Moonlight Pavilion, Qi Ling accompanies Tang San to Tang Hao's secluded valley. Tang San learns his true origins, his mother's fate, and the blood debt owed to Qian Xunji. During the following three days, he absorbs Ah Yin's Soul Bone and undergoes another transformation of the Blue Silver Emperor. Tang Hao removes an arm and a leg to return the Clear Sky Sect's two Soul Bones through his son 406.

Tang San helps settle Ah Yin's surviving Blue Silver Grass form at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, then sets out for the Clear Sky Sect with Qi Ling. He openly expresses his desire to kill Qian Xunji himself to avenge his mother 406 407.

At the sect, Tang San respectfully greets Tang Xiao and hands over the two Soul Bones. He declares that he has come to atone for his father's sins, although Tang Xiao's grief reveals that he does not truly hate Tang Hao or his son. Tang Xiao arranges a ceremony for Tang San to acknowledge his ancestors and warns that strength, firmness, and sincerity will matter more than etiquette 409 410.

Tang San chooses a suspended iron chain as the location for his match with the Seventh Elder, exploiting his superior movement skills. During negotiations over his return, the Second Elder demands a Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring; Qi Ling promises that Tang San will obtain one by his Seventh Soul Ring rather than his Eighth. Tang San subsequently participates in the ancestral acknowledgment ceremony 413 414.

Hu Liena and the Sixth Soul Ring

During the conflict with Spirit Hall, Tang San follows an emergency plan devised by Qi Ling: he seals Hu Liena's acupoints, takes her hostage, and uses the Clear Sky Hammer to force a path through the surrounding enemies. He had initially opposed the plan and accepted it only after Qi Ling promised it would be used solely as a last resort 447.

When Tang San binds Hu Liena to himself with Blue Silver Grass, she finally realizes that the man she knows as Tang Yin is Tang San. He can only apologize, unable to face her directly 448.

When Ghost Douluo's final strike threatens his life, Tang San is willing to die knowing Qi Ling and Xiao Wu are safe, but regrets the hurt he has caused Hu Liena. A figure intervenes and takes the fatal blade intended for him; afterward, Tang San remains deeply worried about Hu Liena's condition 453 454.

His breakthrough to level sixty allows Qi Ling to take him hunting for a Sixth Soul Ring. Together they trap a ninety-thousand-year Earth Tiger-Striped Cave Spider, with Qi Ling ultimately disabling it so Tang San can finish it. Absorption raises him to level sixty-three 454 455.

Qi Ling then guides him through an exceptional method of strengthening the new ring with the Eight Spider Lances. Devouring additional Earth Tiger-Striped Cave Spider power nearly evolves it to Hundred Thousand Year, and a Man Faced Demon Spider provides the final energy. Continued devouring also evolves the lances and begins forming Soul Bone armor 456 457.

Tang San later holds off a Soul Douluo using both Martial Souls. He is also identified with the newly established Tang Sect when Tai Tan introduces him to Niu Gao, emphasizing that he is not visiting as a representative of the Clear Sky Sect 480 495.

Family Rescue and Preparations for Sea God Island

Before traveling to Sea God Island, Tang San receives instruction in Clear Sky Sect secret techniques from Tang Xiao. He plans to take Hu Liena to meet his parents and asks Qi Ling to serve as the witness for their engagement, treating his elder brother as an essential member of the family 588.

On reaching the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, they discover that Tang Hao is missing. Tang San communicates with Ah Yin through Blue Silver Grass and learns that Qian Xunji has taken his father alive toward the Divine Temple 588 589.

During the rescue, Tang San attacks one of the Titled Douluos involved with all his strength, including his Eight Spider Lances, and succeeds in killing him. The enemy's dying counterattack shatters the lances and breaks Tang San's right arm. Qi Ling sets the arm and treats him with Holy Dragon Redemption 590 591.

When Qian Xunji approaches, Tang San initially refuses to abandon Qi Ling. He ultimately obeys his elder brother's insistence that he take their parents to safety while Qi Ling holds the enemy back 591.

The Eight Spider Lances are functional again by the later battle against the Wolf Bandits, where Tang San combines them with Blue Silver Emperor to silence and kill an enemy 603.

Sea God Trials and Titled Douluo Advancement

On Sea God Island, Tang San trains under the immense pressure of Sea God's Light. Even with two domains, his Martial Soul Avatar, and the Eight Spider Lances, he reaches his limit on the forty-third step after Qi Ling strengthens the trial's pressure 637.

By a later spar, he has become a Soul Douluo, but Qi Ling catches his Clear Sky Hammer and crushes it barehanded. Qi Ling uses the defeat to warn him that, as the group's commander, he cannot afford carelessness or misjudge an opponent 715 716.

After drawing the Sea God Trident, Tang San gains the Sea God's recognition and permission to enter and leave Sea God Island freely. His Eighth Trial requires both of his Martial Souls to reach the nine-ring realm 735.

Tang San and Hu Liena are subsequently captured by Cao Yang. Tang San initially resolves never to reveal information about Qi Ling under torture, but Cao Yang threatens Hu Liena instead and turns the encounter into a deliberate attempt to sow guilt and discord 767.

Adding four Soul Rings to the Clear Sky Hammer raises Tang San to level ninety. For his Blue Silver Martial Soul's Ninth Soul Ring, he fights a Mandala Snake Emperor whose defenses resist his initial attacks. He switches from the Sea God Trident to the Clear Sky Hammer and attacks through internal vibrations with Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer 780 781.

While Tang San absorbs the Hundred Thousand Year ring, Tang Chen threatens the group. After Qi Ling defeats Tang Chen and explains their kinship, Tang Chen recognizes Tang San as his great-grandson. Tang San completes the absorption, becomes a Titled Douluo, and reunites with his great-grandfather, telling him about Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect 784 785 788 790.

Restoring His Parents

With Titled Douluo strength, Tang San becomes capable of evolving his Blue Silver Domain to its final form and reviving Ah Yin. He also retrieves Tang Hao's two Soul Bones from the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Xiao intends for Tang San to become sect master in the future after Tang Chen declines to resume the position 813 814.

Tang San brings Hu Liena, Qi Ling, and Xiao Wu to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. After Qi Ling prepares Tang Hao's old wounds, Tang San uses Blue Silver Domain and Sea God's Light to regrow his father's missing arm and leg and reintegrate the corresponding Soul Bones. The treatment leaves him severely exhausted but restores Tang Hao's body 814 815.

He then activates Blue Silver Avatar and spreads his domain across almost all of Sunset Forest. The surrounding Blue Silver Grass willingly lends small portions of its power, which Tang San channels into Ah Yin. The process lasts more than ten days and culminates in her resurrection. Tang San and Hu Liena remain afterward to observe her condition and search for suitable Soul Rings 815 816 817.

Asura Power and Sea God Inheritance

By his later secluded cultivation on Sea God Island, Tang San has surpassed level ninety-five and possesses seventeen Soul Rings: nine on his Blue Silver Martial Soul and eight on the Clear Sky Hammer. Sea God's Light can no longer improve his cultivation. Seeking pressure nearer his limits, he cultivates deep underwater and encounters life-threatening trouble involving the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King 904 908.

At the Clear Sky Sect, removing the Heart of the Ocean allows Asura Divine Power to overwhelm him. He loses control of his consciousness, manifests winglike extensions from the Eight Spider Lances, overpowers Tang Chen, and seizes the Asura Blood Sword. His killing intent then fixes on Qi Ling, who intervenes and attempts to subdue him 912 913 914 915.

Tang San later receives the Sea God's Power from Bo Saixi. Her nine Soul Rings turn golden, surround them, and finally shatter into power that enters his body. Three days later, he emerges with the complete Sea God's Power, Sea God Divine Armor, Sea God's Eight Wings, and a full set of Hundred Thousand Year Soul Rings 919 921.

This inheritance raises him beyond Limit Douluo to demigod level, with further refinement required to obtain his first god ring. Eager to test his new strength, he accepts another spar with Qi Ling 921.

Later Battles

Tang San volunteers to face Qian Jiyin in the first match of a team confrontation. Although his evolved wings protect him from severe injury, Qian Jiyin's unusual attacks initially wound him. Tang San closes his eyes, relies on his other senses, and uses Mysterious Jade Hand to catch all nine nearly undetectable divine-artifact throwing knives. He nevertheless loses the match, prompting Tang Hao to volunteer for the second bout to avenge his son 932 933 934.

During the Ghost Clan conflict, Tang San offers to take over Qi Ling's opponent so his elder brother can go to the Underworld and close the passage sustaining the battle. He manifests Sea God Divine Armor, fully evolved Wings of the Sea God, and a sea-blue God Ring. His trident's wave-like power immobilizes the Ghost Clan general, but the ensuing thrust fails to inflict a fatal wound, and the two continue fighting 1105 1106.

Appearance

Tang San is less striking in appearance than his traveling companions, but has a gentle, approachable bearing described as “gentle and lustrous as jade” 17.

Awakening his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline dramatically changes his appearance and bearing. The transformation is substantial enough that Hu Liena, who had previously encountered him, does not recognize him, and even Qi Ling believes he might have struggled without their close familiarity 383.

The Eight Spider Lances initially give him a more mysterious appearance. Later transformations produce thicker, longer lances with red-and-white patterns, an incomplete Soul Bone armor, and ultimately the Wings of the Sea God 58 233 457 932.

When overtaken by Asura Power, his usual refined appearance disappears beneath blood-colored light, scarlet pupils, and a savage aura. After completing the Sea God inheritance, he appears in Sea God Divine Armor with the Sea God Trident and Sea God's Eight Wings 912 921.

Personality

Tang San is courteous and cautious about involving others in danger. He apologizes during his first meeting with Qi Ling and is willing to surrender a promising Soul Ring rather than risk his teacher and friend against the Dragon-Cry Golden Toad 5 8.

He values study without being blind to its practical shortcomings. Although he agrees that Yu Xiaogang’s instruction surpasses the academy’s ordinary lessons, he persuades Qi Ling to attend class by pointing out that insufficient attendance prevents graduation 11.

His attachment to family is especially strong. Tang Hao’s departure leaves him deeply distressed, while sharing a home with Qi Ling and Xiao Wu becomes, in his words, the happiest day of his life. His protectiveness can override his usual restraint: after Xiao Wu is injured by Zhao Wuji, he is ready to expose every trump card to retaliate 16 22.

Tang San admires Qi Ling’s leadership and readily acknowledges his own limitations. Nevertheless, he does not treat wealth or influence as sufficient grounds for violence, rejecting Ning Rongrong’s attempt to purchase his help in killing Dai Mubai 11 15 29.

His persistence allows him to resist the Man Faced Demon Spider's mental assault and endure Zhi Lin's pressure until he achieves a breakthrough. He is also capable of self-doubt, particularly when comparing Blue Silver Grass with his Clear Sky Hammer before learning his plant Martial Soul's true nature 58 143 288.

He can be merciless toward enemies while avoiding unnecessary suffering. In Slaughter City, he kills swiftly to spare defeated opponents prolonged agony; when his father is injured, however, he attacks the responsible Titled Douluo with overwhelming anger and lethal intent 383 590.

A year at Moonlight Pavilion strengthens his composure and etiquette, though revelations about his mother's fate awaken a deep hatred of Qian Xunji. His wish to reunite his family remains stronger than concerns about the personal cost of restoring his parents 406 407 409 814.

He initially rejects using Hu Liena as a hostage and later feels guilty over deceiving her. His concern for her also becomes a vulnerability that Cao Yang deliberately exploits 447 448 453 767.

As he grows stronger, Tang San increasingly accepts responsibility for others. Qi Ling identifies him as the group's commander, and he later volunteers to hold a Ghost Clan general so his elder brother can address the larger crisis 716 1105.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass

Tang San’s identified Martial Soul is a plant-type soul that Yu Xiaogang directs toward battlefield control 6.

  • Development priorities: Toxicity, toughness, and entanglement are recommended to overcome its apparent limitations 6.
  • Ally support: Uses the grass to assist Xiao Wu and Dai Mubai during attacks 45.
  • Emergency retrieval: Pulls Xiao Wu, Dai Mubai, and Zhu Zhuqing away from Ye Zhiqiu’s Black Water Ice Seal 45.
  • Battlefield coordination: Controls the engagement while teammates attack and protects support-type companions from the rear 44.
  • Pressure resistance: Uses slight vibrations of Blue Silver Grass to dissipate external pressure during Zhi Lin's test 143.
  • Blue Silver Emperor transformation: Bloodline awakening qualitatively transforms the Martial Soul, making it a top-tier control weapon. Even without Soul Skills, he can use it to entangle and kill multiple opponents 383.
  • Fourth Soul Skill — Blue Silver Cage: Produces a restraining cage. It briefly traps the ninety-thousand-year Earth Tiger-Striped Cave Spider before the beast breaks free 455.
  • Parasitism: His grass can parasitize an entangled opponent, progressively increasing its control 932.
  • Environmental perception and communication: Receives information from nearby Blue Silver Grass and communicates with Ah Yin through it 588 589.
  • Limitations: Qi Ling's Xuanyuan Sword Realm can cut through it, while his Haki can suppress even the Blue Silver Emperor's growth at close range 386 431.

Purple Demon Eye

An eye technique that improves Tang San’s ability to aim and observe combat 8 23.

  • Locks onto the Dragon-Cry Golden Toad while aiming the unfamiliar Barrett rifle 8.
  • Lets him discern Zhao Wuji’s condition beneath rubble when other spectators cannot tell whether the battle is over 23.
  • Maintaining it at full power consumes substantial stamina 8.
  • Works alongside Qi Ling's Fiery Eyes and Golden Pupils to locate the Earth Tiger-Striped Cave Spider for his Sixth Soul Ring 455.

Hidden Weapons

Tang San has a lifelong fascination with hidden weapons and has mastered Hundred Solutions to Hidden Weapon 8.

  • Quickly learns the Barrett rifle’s operation under Qi Ling’s instruction 8.
  • Qi Ling’s selection system assesses his shooting success rate at 99%, compared with Qi Ling’s 50% 8.
  • Estimates that he has less than a thirty-percent chance of defeating Dai Mubai without hidden weapons 19.
  • Considers using a newly acquired hidden weapon against Zhao Wuji, though Qi Ling intervenes before he does so 22.
  • Can launch dense volleys with changing trajectories and conceal weapons in the shadows of other projectiles. Even these techniques fail to penetrate Qi Ling's Golden Sacred Dragon Armor 68.
  • Demonstrates exceptional sensory awareness by closing his eyes and detecting Qian Jiyin's nearly invisible divine-artifact throwing knives through faint fluctuations in the air 933.
  • Uses Mysterious Jade Hand, a Tang Sect Secret Art that gives his hands a jade-like texture, to catch all nine of Qian Jiyin's throwing knives 933.

Poison and Medical Knowledge

Tang San is described as a poison master with considerable skill in treating illnesses 30.

  • Recognizes the severity of Zhu Zhuqing’s injuries and the sinister nature of the palm technique responsible 30.
  • Cannot identify a treatment for that injury despite his experience, demonstrating a limit to his medical knowledge 30.
  • Uses the Eight Spider Lances to extract Man Faced Demon Spider poison from Qi Ling because the poison shares its origin with his own lances 233.
  • Harvests and consumes octagonal mysterious ice grass and infernal delicate apricot using the method recorded in the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 155.
  • Acknowledges Qi Ling as more capable at treating illnesses and saving lives when Tang Hao collapses 814.
  • With Qi Ling's preparation, uses Blue Silver Domain and Sea God's Light to restore Tang Hao's missing limbs and reintegrate his Soul Bones 815.

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang San's second Martial Soul is the Clear Sky Hammer, recognized as the world's foremost Tool Martial Soul. Revealing it establishes his Clear Sky lineage to Tai Tan and others 197 330.

  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer / Chaotic Cloak: Executes a sequence of eighty-one hammer strikes. Tang Hao's training distinguishes strength and technique from precise control, with the latter practiced using a wooden hammer beneath a waterfall 356 359.
  • Vibration attacks: Uses the hammer's immense weight and vibrations to attack the Mandala Snake Emperor internally when its scales resist other attacks 781.
  • Clear Sky True Body: Manifests a gigantic hammer-shaped phantom and genuine Tool Soul True Body. During the match against Qi Ling, its power exceeds what his body and soul can sustain repeatedly 330 331.
  • Additional secret techniques: Receives instruction from Tang Xiao before heading to Sea God Island 588.
  • Limitations against Qi Ling: Qi Ling prevents him from summoning it at close range in one spar and later catches and crushes the manifested hammer during another 431 715 716.

Eight Spider Lances

The Eight Spider Lances, also called Spider Spears, are an External Soul Bone originating from the Man Faced Demon Spider. They first emerge after Tang San completes his Third Soul Ring absorption 58 233 456.

  • Physical attacks and poison: Uses their sharp tips to pierce enemies and deliver poison, although they cannot penetrate the Golden Sacred Dragon Armor 68.
  • Terrain-independent movement: Supports and propels himself with the lances across difficult terrain and travels at high speed while carrying a restrained Soul Beast 154 233.
  • Full bodily integration: Zhi Lin's pressure test removes their remaining separation from his body 143.
  • Devouring: Absorbs a Soul Beast's power directly, strengthening the lances and replenishing his stamina and Soul Power 233 456.
  • Soul Ring evolution: Their unique devouring ability enables his Sixth Soul Ring to evolve from ninety-thousand-year to Hundred Thousand Year after absorption, bypassing his inability to withstand direct absorption of a ring of that age 456.
  • Soul Bone armor: Continued evolution begins forming an incomplete armor that enhances his strength 457.
  • Damage and recovery: They are shattered by a Titled Douluo's dying counterattack but are functional again during the later Wolf Bandit battle 591 603.
  • Wings of the Sea God: Eventually evolve into wings. Their presence provides considerable defensive protection even when not actively summoned, reducing Qian Jiyin's potentially devastating strike to minor wounds 921 932.
