Background / History
Awakening at Herta Space Station
Stelle’s earlier life is largely obscured by memory loss. When Kafka and Silver Wolf prepare her to receive the Stellaron, Silver Wolf says she will at least remember Kafka. Kafka subsequently uses Spirit Whisper to guide her toward the future Elio foresaw, telling her that her journey will bring companions, dangers, and answers about herself 13 14.
The process is disrupted by Stelle’s fixation on Ye Yan’s talking trash-can disguise. Kafka ultimately acknowledges that Stelle will probably remember the trash can as well as her. After the Stellaron Hunters leave, Ye Yan places a baseball bat in Stelle’s hand as compensation for frightening her 14.
March 7th and Dan Heng find Stelle unconscious during the Antimatter Legion attack. She remembers her name but little else, accepts their explanation of the emergency, and accompanies March toward the Master Control Zone 14.
The Doomsday Beast and the Astral Express
Stelle fights the Doomsday Beast alongside Himeko, March 7th, and Dan Heng. When it fires a beam at March, Stelle shields her without hesitation. The incoming Imaginary Energy destabilizes her Stellaron, and her consciousness encounters Nanook. She then witnesses a muscular trash can strike the Aeon and send him flying 15.
Outside the vision, Ye Yan seals the Stellaron’s Imaginary Energy with Shackles of Eternity, delivered through a flick to her forehead. He takes the Doomsday Beast away and finishes it off 16 18.
After recovering, Stelle declines to remain on the station solely for Herta’s research and accepts Himeko’s invitation to board the Astral Express. Her formal welcome into the Nameless follows shortly afterward, although she refuses to recite the Trailblazers’ creed because she finds it embarrassing 18 19.
Space Station Commissions
Stelle becomes absorbed in Herta’s Simulated Universe, where she plays the role of Akivili. She later participates in Herta and Screwllum’s operation against Silver Wolf without initially knowing that the hacker accompanying her is real rather than a simulated historical figure. Her Eternity bat becomes an unexpected obstacle to Silver Wolf’s preparations 19 23.
She also helps researcher Rocky Martinez communicate his feelings to Lesley. Rocky combines poetry with a direct confession, receives Lesley’s acceptance, and leaves to find her. He invites Stelle to be their bridesmaid 25.
Jarilo-VI Expedition
Himeko assigns Stelle to investigate Jarilo-VI with March 7th, Dan Heng, and Ye Yan after a Stellaron blocks the Express’s route. Crossing the snowfields, Stelle experiments with her weapon’s alternate forms and throws its trash-can lid form at a moving snowdrift, striking the concealed Sampo 27 28 29.
In Belobog, Stelle meets Supreme Guardian Cocolia and opens the audience by asking her to acknowledge the Aeon of Eternity’s peerless beauty. Despite Cocolia’s apparent cooperation, Dan Heng suspects that she is concealing something 32 33 35.
Stelle later dreams from Cocolia’s perspective and approaches the Stellaron amid the Eternal Freeze. A separate voice addresses Stelle herself, references her blessing of Destruction, and urges her to comprehend the Book of Eternal Virtues. The experience ends without an explanation 41.
When Bronya moves to arrest the visitors, Stelle, March, and Dan Heng initially observe the guards under Ye Yan’s concealment blessing. They follow Bronya into Backwater Pass, where the concealment expires and they are accused of conspiring against Belobog. The trio resists arrest and fights the guards 45 47 48.
They subsequently reach the Underworld and seek Ye Yan. Stelle’s mimetic compass helps March win Hook’s hide-and-seek challenge, securing his whereabouts. The group reunites with him at the Fight Club and reports the failed concealment and Cocolia’s accusations 49 50.
Appearance
- Gray hair: Explicitly noted when Silver Wolf jokingly suggests calling her “Little Grey Hair”; Stelle later flicks her hair while boasting about her popularity 13 26.
- Relatively short hairstyle: Dan Heng remarks that her hair is not much longer than March 7th’s 31.
Personality
Stelle is playful, theatrical, and quick to turn unfamiliar situations into jokes. She adopts heroic titles, delivers exaggerated declarations of justice, and teases Ye Yan by treating him like a child or describing his instructions as his “dying words” 23 29 32 33.
Her humor coexists with genuine protectiveness. She takes the Doomsday Beast’s beam for March without hesitation and later promises to protect her companions from Voidrangers. By the time of her induction, she already considers the Express crew people she can trust with her life 15 18 19.
She is intensely curious, sometimes to the point of recklessness: an expedition with Peppy ends with her stuck in a ventilation duct. She also adapts quickly to absurd circumstances, accepting a trash can lid as a practical weapon after initially despairing over the transformation 19 26.
Money brings out both her opportunism and her independence. She asks Herta how much research participation would pay and jokingly embraces Ye Yan as her godfather after receiving a fortune. Nevertheless, she later insists on earning local money herself rather than relying entirely on his gift 18 20 34.
Abilities & Skills
Bat Combat
Stelle gains weapon-use knowledge through the unfamiliar memory triggered by Ye Yan’s bat 14.
- Bats away a projectile of Imaginary Energy fired by the Doomsday Beast 15.
- Uses platforms of March’s Six-Phased Ice to leap up and strike the beast’s face 15.
- Fights both in melee and at range by switching between bat and trash-can lid forms 29 30.
- Can be overwhelmed by stronger opponents: the Doomsday Beast repeatedly knocks her away during their battle 15.
Stellaron Vessel
Stelle carries the Stellaron implanted by Kafka 13.
- Excessive Imaginary Energy brings it close to exploding during the Doomsday Beast encounter 15 16.
- Ye Yan suppresses the instability by sealing its Imaginary Energy with Shackles of Eternity 16.
- She experiences visions involving Nanook and later hears voices in a dream connected to Cocolia and Jarilo-VI’s Stellaron 15 41.
- The supplied events do not establish that she can deliberately control these visions or the Stellaron’s power.
Memory and Recall
Stelle remembers intricate details from Lesley’s recorded discussions, including specialized research topics. Ye Yan connects this ability to Fuli’s attention and a possible gift of Remembrance power 25.
- Her strong recall does not restore her missing personal history 14 25.
- The bat supplies a specific memory that she recognizes as not her own 14.
Remote Object Retrieval
Stelle obtains a skill book from Ye Yan after completing his quiz 44 45.
- Intended to retrieve objects from a distance 44.
- Remains at a rudimentary level after an entire night of practice 45.
- Her initial training leaves her exhausted and visibly sleep-deprived 45.
Pillow Fighting
Stelle practices repeatedly after losing decisively to Ye Yan 20 37.
- Soundly defeats March 7th at the Goethe Hotel 37.
- Still cannot defeat Ye Yan despite seeking a rematch and giving it her all 37.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Mimetic baseball bat / Eternity Curio — A silver-and-black weapon given to Stelle by Ye Yan. He describes it as a modified Elation mask, and its power includes both Eternity and Elation 14 23 26.
- Transformation: Changes form according to the wielder’s understanding of the Eternity within it. Ye Yan demonstrates a longsword, but Stelle’s first successful transformation is a trash can lid 26.
- Bat form: Her signature weapon; she becomes deeply distressed when Ye Yan borrows it without asking 41 44.
- Trash-can lid form: Can be thrown like a Frisbee and return on its own. Stelle finds it useful against monsters, though less effective than her bat 29.
- Utility forms: Includes a snow shovel, comb, and compass 28 31 49.
- Detection: Can locate nearby trash cans and track hidden targets, including an invisible Silver Wolf 34 49 50.
- Virtual interaction: Can hurt Silver Wolf even when her presence in the Simulated Universe consists of loaded virtual data 23.
- Object-retrieval skill book — Obtained from Ye Yan after his questions about Eternity and related subjects 44 45.
- Eternity protection and concealment — A temporary blessing supplied by Ye Yan, not a demonstrated personal technique. Its concealment eventually wears off in Backwater Pass 35 47.
Relationships
- Ye Yan — Benefactor, traveling companion, and teacher. Gives her the mimetic bat and 800 million Credits, stabilizes her Stellaron, and teaches her remote object retrieval. She jokingly calls him her godfather 14 16 20 44 45.
- Kafka — A familiar figure from before her memory loss who places the Stellaron inside her and guides her awakening. Later sends Ye Yan two billion Credits as child support and asks him to watch over her 13 14 21.
- March 7th — Close friend, fellow amnesiac, and frequent pillow-fight partner. Initially shares her room with Stelle; Stelle protects her during the Doomsday Beast battle 15 19 26.
- Dan Heng — Rescuer and expedition companion. Explains unfamiliar situations, cautions her against reckless plans, and helps prepare her room aboard the Express 14 20 35 36.
- Himeko — Navigator who invites her onto the Express and entrusts her with the Jarilo-VI expedition. Stelle openly admires her maturity and consideration 18 28.
- Herta — Researcher interested in her unusual condition and supervisor of her Simulated Universe activities. Their exchanges are frequently irreverent, with Stelle immediately asking about payment for research 18 19 23.
- Silver Wolf — Helps prepare her Stellaron vessel, later opposes her in the Simulated Universe, and monitors her movements and physical data at Kafka’s request 13 23 36.
- Pom-Pom — Welcomes her formally into the Nameless and arranges living space for her aboard the Express 19 20.
Notable Quotes
“Rules are made to be broken!” 14
“Ha! From now on, I’m the Galactic Baseballer! I’ll take up the duty of punishing evil and promoting good.” 23
“I’m doomed. Whenever anyone mentions [Eternity], all I can think of is trash cans!” 26
Trivia
- Her trash-can obsession develops after seeing Ye Yan’s disguise; Kafka explicitly notes that Stelle had no particular fondness for trash cans beforehand 14.
- Ye Yan’s claims lead her to believe that a muscular trash can is an Aeon’s true form. She consequently asks Herta why the Simulated Universe depicts Eternity as a rainbow-colored “eight” rather than a trash can; Herta corrects the symbol to ∞ 18 19.
- Her loud prayers for the return of her missing bat earn a reprimand from the Goethe Hotel receptionist for disturbing other guests 44.
