Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Aeon of Eternity 1 Recounted retrospectively: after arriving in this universe and drifting for an unknown period, a thought about Eternity triggered his ascension. He gained an infinite lifespan and awakened a system that supplied survival abilities before going permanently offline.

Background / History

Origin and Aeonhood

Ye Yan remembers dying after obtaining E6 Sunday in a single ten-pull when version 2.7 launched. He subsequently arrived in the novel’s universe, although he no longer remembers when. After wandering through space, he ascended to become the Aeon of Eternity. He later questioned whether he had been an ordinary human immediately before ascending, since he had already survived without breathing during his travels 1 3.

He initially spent thousands of years sleeping and drifting aimlessly. Eventually, he realized that simply remaining alive fulfilled his Path: he did not need to imitate IX’s inactivity to embody Eternity. This realization prompted him to pursue ordinary life, travel, and amusement 1.

Ancient Travels

Ye Yan became close friends with Aha and Akivili. He and Aha once spent a year disguised as Nameless aboard Akivili’s train before blowing up a carriage. During the events surrounding Tayzzyronth’s defeat, he distracted Qlipoth while his companions collected fragments of the fallen Aeon 4.

His hostility toward Destruction and Propagation arose partly from their destruction of civilizations where he had spread Eternity. Nanook destroyed one newly established civilization the day after Ye Yan finished teaching its inhabitants. The conflict between Tayzzyronth and Oroboros likewise devastated worlds he had visited 4.

Life on the Luofu

Seeking somewhere comfortable to retire, Ye Yan settled on the Xianzhou Luofu. Jing Yuan arranged a shop for him after Ye Yan revealed his identity and explained his intentions. Rather than simply lounge at home, he opened a milk tea shop so that he could slack off during work 1 5.

He created a human-looking avatar to fit into everyday society and operated the shop for less than half an hour a day. Qingque occasionally looked after it. Before leaving to join the main storyline, he entrusted her with the key and said he expected to return within a few weeks 1 2 4.

Appearance

  • Everyday avatar: A handsome young man with delicate features, initially dressed in a black brocade robe. He changes into work clothes when serving customers 1.
  • Unchanging appearance: Tingyun has known him since childhood and has never seen time leave a mark on him 5.
  • Trash-can disguise: Appears as a muscular trash can during his confrontation with Nanook, striking with an iron lid 15 17.
  • Simulated representation: The Simulated Universe depicts Eternity as a rainbow-colored infinity symbol rather than a trash can 19.

Personality

Ye Yan treats slacking off as a deliberate lifestyle rather than simple inactivity. In his view, it requires avoiding proper work while supposedly working—hence his decision to become a shop owner. He prefers convenience, free meals, sleep, and games, but readily becomes industrious when an invention or prank interests him 1 24 37.

His humor closely resembles Elation. He invents identities, supplies March 7th with absurd possible backstories, cheats spectacularly at games, and enjoys watching amusement-seekers become the victims of their own jokes. Nevertheless, he admits that he cannot match Aha’s absurdity 2 3 8 50.

Despite his divine status, Ye Yan dislikes unnecessary deference and regards Aeonhood as only one of his identities. He values companionship, takes pleasure in his friends’ happiness, and quietly provides protection or practical help. His generosity has limits: Destruction’s forces are explicitly excluded from the Church of Eternity’s otherwise forgiving outlook 5 35 37 38.

He professes to hate History Fictionologists and Riddlers, yet sometimes behaves much like them—fabricating stories or withholding explanations for dramatic effect 4 29 33.

Abilities & Skills

Authority of Eternity

Ye Yan’s Path encompasses many forms of persistence, including endless life, repeated actions, and unending pursuit. The narration places him among the Aeons’ “T0” tier, above Aha and capable of overpowering Nanook, without equating him with IX 1.

  • Infinite lifespan: Remaining alive is itself sufficient for him to follow Eternity 1.
  • Broad interpretation: Treats enduring convictions and repeated behavior as expressions of his Path 2 8 26.
  • Unconfirmed possibility: Speculates that Eternity could devour other Paths because Aeons follow their respective Paths without end; no such absorption is documented 3.

Shackles of Eternity

Seals a selected target’s Imaginary Energy 1.

  • Stops Stelle’s impending Stellaron explosion through a flick to her forehead 16.
  • The system suggests selecting the entire universe as a target, but this application is not demonstrated 1.

Gift of Eternity

Sends a selected target into a designated black-hole space to “experience eternity” 1.

  • Previously confined the bug empowered by Aha, ostensibly to let it contemplate Eternity 3.
  • Installed a black-hole defense on Yaoshi capable of absorbing an astronomical number of attacks, counterbalancing the tracking link he gave Lan 2.

Moment of Eternity

Stops the flow of time within a selected area. It is listed among his initial fixed system skills, but the supplied events do not show a confirmed use 1.

Spatial Travel and Targeting

Ye Yan can cross space directly and imbue attacks with extraordinary tracking properties 11 16.

  • Eternity · Finality: Allows a target to travel through any time and space to any location. This ability came from his system, not from meeting Terminus 11.
  • Eternity · The Hunt: Designates a target so that attacks automatically track it and are guaranteed to hit. He combines it with Lan’s light arrow to strike Aha 11.
  • Void traversal: Tears open the void; Dan Heng compares his movement to an Express warp, but faster 12 16.
  • Digital gateways: Transfers puppets, weapons, and opponents through portals, including sending Fight Club automatons to the Church of Eternity 9 11 50.
  • Remote manipulation: Physically grabs Silver Wolf’s holographic projection, surprising her with an effect she considers more unreasonable than Aether Editing 39.

Protection, Healing, and Durability

His fabricated body retains the structure and exceptional physical qualities of his true body while drawing on less energy. It contains roughly half his strength; channeling too much energy would make it explode 1 8.

  • Personal durability: Voidranger attacks inflict no damage. Herta’s nearly century-long research has not removed even a layer of his skin 8 12.
  • Damage transfer: Eliminates attacking Voidrangers by transferring damage 12.
  • Protective blessings: Grants Dan Heng, March 7th, and Stelle safety and concealment without discomfort. Their invisibility later wears off during the Belobog incident 35 47.
  • Healing: Treats Arlan’s injuries during the space-station invasion 14.
  • Emergency evacuation: Leaves coordinates within Tingyun that will transport her to the Church of Eternity if she is attacked. Additional energy is intended to repel Phantylia and protect the merchant guild 6.
  • Therapeutic milk tea: Provides Kafka with a bottle intended to effectively alleviate Firefly’s Entropy Loss Syndrome; a completed cure is not shown 24.

Engineering and Weapon Modification

Ye Yan combines technical skill with Aeonic power, frequently concealing the actual process behind tools and theatrical sparks. His modifications preserve a weapon’s basic foundation while adding unconventional functions 37 42.

Project Modifications / Contribution
Astral Express Helped Himeko restore it to operating condition; later repaired collision damage and shielded the connections between carriages 6 7.
Cloud-Piercer: initial upgrade Added an Eternity art for durability and damage over time, plus a button-fired spearhead. The first version required manual retrieval 9.
Cloud-Piercer: later upgrade Added spearhead recall, rapid-fire operation, and a chain-linked spear-and-staff mode 37.
Lan’s weapon Applied Finality so that attacks could cross time and space and seek enemies through conviction rather than supplied coordinates 11.
Gepard’s Bulwark Added Qlipoth’s amber and Eternity power to strengthen defense and handling, alongside a concealed gun muzzle 42.
Silvermane Guard equipment Upgraded the first batch of frontline guards’ weapons; the improvements had not yet reached every unit 41 48.
Svarog Repaired his malfunctioning body before opening discussions about his database and the Stellaron 46 47.

Gaming and Research

  • Gaming: Silver Wolf has never beaten him. Their early matches included Ye Yan altering his score to an astronomical value with an Aether Cartridge 2 21.
  • Model assembly: Can assemble a precision mecha model in under an hour 7.
  • Simulated Universe: Tests the simulation, checks Aeon development logs, supplies research ideas, and provides experimental materials 17 22.
  • Aeon knowledge: His explanations impress Dan Heng as approaching an Aeon’s own understanding—without Dan Heng realizing why 9.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • System space — Stores prepared drinks and other supplies, allowing him to produce items seemingly from nowhere 1.
  • Amber hammer — Assembled from amber shed by Qlipoth; each component contains Emanator-level energy. Silver Wolf borrows it to destroy Fragmentum Monsters 8 41.
  • Mimetic baseball bat — Given to Stelle and described as a modified Elation mask. Demonstrated forms include a longsword, trash-can lid, and snow shovel. Transformation requires understanding the Eternity within it; Stelle initially manages everyday objects more readily than combat weapons 14 26 28.
  • Amber crystal containing Tayzzyronth’s likeness — A keepsake Ye Yan says he obtained from Qlipoth 4.
  • Aeonic research materials — Supplies Herta with Qlipoth’s amber, Fool’s Mask fragments, wrecked train-carriage fragments, and eventually Nanook’s blood on a specially made trash can 8 17.
  • Custom Herta puppet — Features enhanced joints and interchangeable hairstyles. Ye Yan asks for it to be sent to the Church of Eternity as a guard 8.

Relationships

  • Aha — Ancient friend, prank partner, and persistent nuisance. They bicker daily, impersonate or frame one another, and retaliate with increasingly elaborate jokes 1 4 11 32.
  • Akivili — Deceased friend and former traveling companion. Ye Yan remembers their adventures fondly and shares a toast to Akivili with Aha 4.
  • Qlipoth — Longtime acquaintance whom Ye Yan repeatedly bothers alongside his companions. Qlipoth’s hammer once left him with a bump; his amber later becomes valuable equipment and research material 8 42.
  • Lan — Friendly fellow Aeon. Ye Yan helps track Yaoshi, upgrades Lan’s weapon, and can request a light arrow directly 2 11.
  • Yaoshi — Responds readily to Ye Yan and bestows Abundance blessings on him. He protects Yaoshi even while enabling Lan’s pursuit 2 24.
  • Nanook — Enemy whose destruction of a newly instructed civilization provokes Ye Yan’s revenge. Ye Yan later assaults him and obtains a blood sample 4 15 17.
  • Herta — Longtime research partner who has studied him for nearly a century. He provides materials, advises her research, and fulfills her request for Aeon blood 8 17.
  • Screwllum — Friend and Simulated Universe collaborator who knows his true identity and thanks him for supporting Aeon research 22.
  • Silver Wolf — Gaming rival and friend since her youth on Punklorde. Ye Yan also values her ability to fabricate identities; she remains unaware that her unbeatable opponent is the Aeon she frequently blames 2 21 43.
  • Qingque — Regular customer and fellow slacker trusted to manage his shop during his absence 1 4.
  • Jing Yuan — Knows his identity, arranged his shop, and receives his warning about a pawn of Destruction around Tingyun 5.
  • Tingyun — Has known him since childhood. Ye Yan quietly prepares protection and emergency transport for her before leaving the Luofu 5 6.
  • Himeko and Pom-Pom — Know his history with the Express. Himeko remembers his repair work; Pom-Pom is susceptible to his pastries when forgiving his misbehavior 6.
  • Stelle, March 7th, and Dan Heng — Trailblazing companions who call him “Teacher Ye Yan.” He protects them, improves their equipment, and joins their games and teasing 20 28 35 37.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Return to the Astral Express

  • Leaves his shop with Qingque, warns Jing Yuan about Destruction’s activity, and departs after preparing safeguards for Tingyun 4 5 6.
  • Collides with the Astral Express while drifting along the star rail. He reunites with Himeko and Pom-Pom, compensates for the accident with treats, and repairs the damage 6 7.
  • Allows Himeko and Welt to regard him as an Emanator of Eternity rather than revealing his Aeonhood 7.

Herta Space Station

  • Reunites with Herta and agrees to obtain an Aeon’s blood, using her commission as an additional reason to confront Nanook 8.
  • Meets Kafka, encounters the newly created Stelle, and leaves her a defensive weapon before she awakens 13 14.
  • During the Legion invasion, heals Arlan, seals Stelle’s unstable Stellaron, and attacks Nanook in his trash-can guise. He subsequently gives Herta the collected golden blood 14 15 16 17.
  • Accepts Asta’s one-billion-Credit transfer and decides to pass the money to the unconscious Stelle. Asta’s sympathy is based on a tragic history invented by Herta, not Ye Yan’s actual origins 17.
  • Continues helping the Simulated Universe researchers and offers assistance for Firefly’s condition before the Express departs 22 24 25.

Jarilo-VI and Belobog

  • Joins Stelle, March 7th, and Dan Heng in searching for Jarilo-VI’s Stellaron. He captures the fleeing Sampo and declines the initial audience with Cocolia after sensing a change in the Stellaron 28 30 32.
  • Introduces Pela and local children to the wider universe, then protects his companions when Dan Heng suspects the Supreme Guardian 33 35.
  • Upgrades Cloud-Piercer and assists Gepard’s frontline forces, strengthening their equipment with Eternity and Preservation 37 41 42.
  • Repairs Svarog, introduces him and Clara to the Church of Eternity, and makes discussion of the Stellaron possible. Clara distributes his milk tea among the vagrants 46 47.
  • Wins the Fight Club semifinal by teleporting the opposing automatons to the church. Afterward, he learns that Cocolia has branded the Trailblazers servants of Eternity seeking to undermine Belobog 50.
