The group found an abandoned village near the border and discovered a frightened young woman and her little brother hiding in a concealed room.

• Naruto objected to Shinsei joining the delegation, but Kakashi confirmed Shinsei could remove Team 7 from the list.
• Naruto teased Sasuke with a photograph of his bandaged head, but Sakura showed concern for Sasuke and left Naruto feeling lonely.
• Tsunade arrived in a little girl's form and struck Naruto after he challenged her.
• Shinsei spotted a village before sunset, and the group entered it to find its houses deserted and dusty.
• Kakashi and Naruto moved a wardrobe to reveal a hidden doorway, where Naruto found a young woman and a little boy hiding.

Tsunade and the Konoha group found two starving siblings hiding after ninja trained by a red-haired woman had abducted the villagers. As the group prepared to help, Shinsei questioned the Shinobi World’s political order, and Tsunade asked whether he wanted to unify it like Madara Uchiha.

• Tsunade gave the siblings chicken drumsticks and frightened them into explaining what had happened to their village.
• The girl told the group that a red-haired woman had taught Ninjutsu to nearby bandits, who then overwhelmed the villagers and took many of them away.
• Naruto promised to rescue the villagers, and Tsunade agreed to help without payment in exchange for hot water.
• Shinsei cooked a meal for the group and the siblings, while Tsunade explained that the Hokage could not interfere in civil administration.
• Shinsei challenged the world’s political order and asked why the Shinobi World could not be unified, prompting Tsunade to ask whether he intended to follow Madara Uchiha’s example.

Shinsei considered whether he wanted to change the Shinobi World, then agreed to take Kakashi to another world so he could seek answers about his father. The group found Orochimaru’s hidden laboratory, where Naruto rescued a frightened red-haired girl from a cell.

• Shinsei told Tsunade he was unsure about unifying the Shinobi World but wanted to make changes, and Tsunade ordered everyone to keep their conversation secret.
• Kakashi asked Shinsei about the other world and requested to go there with him; Shinsei agreed.
• Naruto and the others followed the siblings to the bandits’ hideout, where Sasuke found a chakra barrier and Naruto broke through it with a Rasengan.
• The group discovered naked villagers in glass tanks and a red-haired woman conducting experiments before she escaped underground.

Shinsei and the others rescued Karin Uzumaki and the surviving villagers from Kabuto Yakushi’s underground experiments, then Naruto took responsibility for Karin. The group reached the coast and prepared to travel to the Land of Water, while in Konoha Tsunade approved Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro’s return to Sunagakure and called for Tenzo.

• Shinsei and the others freed the villagers from the underground hall, and Tsunade and Katsuyu treated the survivors.
• Karin Uzumaki identified Orochimaru’s subordinate Kabuto Yakushi as the person behind the experiments and told Kakashi how she had been captured and forced to treat victims.
• Naruto vowed to catch Kabuto Yakushi, and Tsunade agreed that Karin could travel with the group under Naruto’s care.
• The group fed the surviving villagers, escorted them home, and continued to the coast, where they found a ship bound for the Land of Water.

Tsunade assigned Tenzo a mission that would lead to his transfer from the Anbu, while Danzo sent Sai to deliver intelligence to Amegakure. Meanwhile, Orochimaru fought a version of himself from another world, and the battle continued after both summoned allies.

• Tsunade gave Tenzo information and a three-pronged kunai for monitoring a group, and Tenzo chose the name Yamato before his planned Anbu transfer.

Two versions of Orochimaru fought over which one would survive, eventually merging their battle into an Eight-Headed Serpent. One Orochimaru emerged and tried to recruit Kabuto Yakushi, but Kabuto escaped with a white scroll, uncertain about what had happened.

• Young Orochimaru copied his opponent’s appearance, and the two Orochimarus confused Ichikishimahime with clones and disguises during their fight.
• Orochimaru trapped Ichikishimahime in the Four Violet Flames Formation, then let a giant white snake swallow him as the other Orochimarus became dead snakes.
• The two Orochimarus repeatedly emerged from the Eight-Headed Serpent, recognized each other’s soul energy, and invoked the White Dragon Visualization Method before being swallowed again.
• One Orochimaru crawled out of the serpent and told Kabuto Yakushi to follow him, but Kabuto recognized that he was not the Lord Orochimaru she had served.
• Orochimaru attacked Kabuto Yakushi with Snake Shadow Hidden Hands, but Kabuto escaped as a Shadow Clone and emerged from the earth holding a white scroll.

Tsunade and her disciples played cards aboard a cruise ship before Kirigakure ninja requisitioned it to transport Konoha’s envoys. The group reached an island, where Mizukage Mei Terumi welcomed them and mistook Tsunade for Konoha’s Hokage.

• Tsunade lost at cards to Shinsei and then played Naruto, who repeatedly checked his moves with Shinsei and beat her.
• Tsunade and the others went outside when they heard an argument and found Kirigakure ninja requisitioning the cruise ship.
• Kakashi showed Jirō Miyazaki their credentials, and Jirō explained that the Mizukage had ordered him to receive the Konoha envoys.
• The group transferred to a small boat, and Tsunade knocked out the seasick Naruto while Shinsei cleaned up his vomit with Water Release chakra.
• Mei Terumi welcomed the Konoha group on the island and asked whether the little blonde Tsunade was Konoha’s Hokage.

Shinsei received word from Katsuyu that Tsunade’s plan had begun while the Konoha delegation met with Mei Terumi. Meanwhile, Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro encountered Deidara, Kakuzu, and Hidan in the desert, and their fight began.

• Shinsei slipped away from the group and learned from Katsuyu that Tsunade’s plan had begun.
• Mei Terumi invited Kakashi to drink, but Kakashi used a Shadow Clone and stayed clearheaded while Naruto tried to uncover his mask.
• Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro were confronted in the desert by Deidara, Kakuzu, and Hidan.
• Temari identified the Akatsuki members and warned them that Sunagakure had been notified, while Deidara asked whether Sasori would come.
• Gaara declared that he was excited and sent a wave of sand toward the Akatsuki members as Deidara took to the sky and launched clay birds.
• Temari swung her fan at Deidara’s incoming clay birds.

Deidara and Kakuzu fought Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro, with Deidara turning the battle into a series of explosive attacks. Gaara protected the three with a sand sphere, but Deidara’s Clay Spiders burrowed inside as he prepared another detonation.

• Deidara and Kakuzu battled the Sunagakure ninja while Hidan attacked Temari and Kankuro, and Gaara defended against their attacks with sand.
• Deidara bombarded the group with clay birds and dragons, injuring Temari and forcing Gaara to enclose all three in a sand sphere.
• Deidara’s enormous clay dragon blasted a hole in the sphere, but Gaara quickly filled the breach with sand.
• Deidara sent Clay Spiders burrowing into the sand sphere, and Gaara heard them crawling through its walls as Deidara began another attack.

Minato Namikaze rescued Gaara and the Sunagakure ninja from Deidara, then joined Shinsei to confront the Akatsuki. Minato sealed Kakuzu, Hidan, and Deidara inside a barrier as Shinsei challenged them to a fight.

• Minato used Flying Thunder God and a Rasengan to rescue Gaara, Temari, and their companion from Deidara, then brought them to safety in a forest.
• Minato borrowed Shinsei’s senjutsu chakra through a sealing scroll and sensed his own chakra mark.
• Minato arrived where Shinsei was resting with Tsunade, and the two left together after confirming their plan had worked.
• Kakuzu decided the Akatsuki should retreat and report Minato’s Flying Thunder God to their leader, but Shinsei and Minato appeared before they could leave.
• Minato placed four kunai around the Akatsuki members and formed the Four Violet Flames Formation, trapping them with Shinsei inside.
• Shinsei challenged Kakuzu, Hidan, and Deidara, declaring that either they would beat him to death or he would beat them to death.

Mei Terumi’s forces and Konoha prepared to investigate the Three-Tails’ revival, but Pain arrived and demanded both the Three-Tails and Naruto. The confrontation ended with Jiraiya revealing himself to Pain, who recognized his former teacher.

• Mei Terumi learned the Three-Tails would soon revive and ordered Kirigakure’s forces to mobilize and share the intelligence with Konoha.
• Kakashi and his students received the deployment order, woke Tsunade, and joined Mei Terumi’s party aboard a ship bound for the Three-Tails.
• Mei Terumi and Ao noticed no Kirigakure ninja along the route, then spotted Pain and five other figures waiting near the destination.
• Pain demanded the Nine-Tails after learning Naruto was aboard, and Tsunade ordered everyone off the ship.
• Naruto rescued Karin Uzumaki from the water and summoned Jiraiya, who asked Pain whether he should call him Yahiko or Nagato.

Jiraiya confronted Pain and Konan, learned that they intended to pursue their plan for peace through pain, and failed to persuade them to turn back. Inside the purple barrier, Shinsei fought Kakuzu, Deidara, and Hidan, cutting Hidan’s head off while Deidara’s attacks failed to reach him.

• Jiraiya recognized Nagato as Pain and reunited with Konan, then urged them to abandon the Akatsuki’s plan.
• Pain declared that he would kill Jiraiya if Jiraiya tried to stop him, and Konan flew back toward the ship.
• Shinsei entered Sage Mode and challenged Kakuzu, Deidara, and Hidan inside the purple barrier.
• Kakuzu attacked with Fire Style: Searing Migraine, but Shinsei protected himself with chakra armor and struck Deidara with a Storm Release beam.
• Shinsei’s Sage Art neutralized Deidara’s nanobombs, and he cut Hidan’s scythe and head with a Storm Sword.

Shinsei used a water-filled barrier to subdue Deidara and Hidan, but Minato interrupted the capture when he detected unusual activity in the Land of Water. The group arrived to find Pain preparing a devastating attack as they fled across the sea.

• Shinsei filled the Four Violet Flames Formation with water and used its current to overwhelm Deidara and Kakuzu.
• Shinsei used genjutsu and a sealing jutsu to capture Deidara, then turned to deal with Kakuzu.
• Minato signaled Shinsei about unusual activity in the chakra marker in the Land of Water, and they left the barrier with Hidan and Deidara.
• Shinsei and Minato delivered the captives to Ibiki Morino in Konoha's Interrogation Department before rushing away.
• Tsunade and the others fled across the sea as Pain declared his intent to make the world feel pain and unleashed Shinra Tensei.

Pain devastated the shinobi with Shinra Tensei, then fought them alongside the other black-robed figures while Kakashi and Sasuke went to search for his real body. As Pain summoned beasts to attack, Shinsei and Minato arrived beside Tsunade.

• Pain unleashed Shinra Tensei, sending a massive tsunami across the sea and knocking down nearly everyone around him.
• Sasuke and Naruto tried to stop the waves, while Tsunade punched through the force and Katsuyu protected the shinobi; Jiraiya and Sasuke rescued Naruto and Sakura from the water.
• Pain arrived with five black-robed figures and tried to pull Naruto toward him, but Sasuke used Amaterasu and Pain was restored after being burned to ashes.
• Tsunade told Kakashi and Sasuke to find Pain's real body while she, Jiraiya, and Mei Terumi held off the six figures.
• Pain summoned enormous beasts to attack the group, and Shinsei and Minato appeared beside Tsunade.

Shinjō and the others fought Pain’s summoned beasts and Six Paths while Minato evacuated allies and Sasuke and Kakashi battled Konan. Jiraiya entered Sage Mode with Fukasaku and Shima, and Pain rose above the battlefield to declare that there would be no more sages.

• Shinjō struck the three-headed giant dog with star power, but it split off two summoned ninja dogs as Jiraiya summoned Gamaken and prepared to enter Sage Mode.
• Tsunade ordered Minato to evacuate Naruto, Sakura, and the Kirigakure ninja; Minato removed Sakura and Chōjūrō, while Ao admitted he had not found Pain’s real body.
• Sasuke and Kakashi attacked Konan, but she reformed from sheets of paper after Kakashi struck her, and Katsuyu relayed that Pain’s real body was not in the ship’s hold.
• Shinjō gave Minato senjutsu chakra so he could use Flying Thunder God again, then sent him to bring Hinata to the battlefield.
• Jiraiya arrived in Sage Mode with Fukasaku and Shima, and Pain rose into the air and declared that only a god was strongest and that there would be no more sages.

Shinsei and the Konoha and Kirigakure fighters battled Pain while waiting for a Byakugan user to locate Nagato. Shinsei broke Deva Path Pain’s arms and ribs, but Pain was restored with all six Paths’ chakra concentrated in him.

• Shinsei’s Sage Art sword was absorbed by one of Pain’s Paths, though its untuned senjutsu chakra made the Path go bald.
• Deva Path Pain pulled Shinsei in with Banshō Ten'in, but Jiraiya’s hair and Shinsei’s Flying Thunder God let him escape; Pain then repelled Tsunade with Shinra Tensei.
• Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Mei Terumi fought Pain’s summoned beasts and Paths using taijutsu and other attacks that could harm them.
• Shinsei marked Deva Path Pain with Flying Thunder God and smashed his arms and ribs with powerful punches.
• A girl-like Pain restored Deva Path Pain, concentrating the chakra of all six Paths into him, and Jiraiya warned the others of the change.

Shinsei fought Deva Path Pain after Three-Tails revived, while the gathered shinobi chose to stay and fight. Three-Tails emerged under Sasuke and Kakashi, and Sasuke challenged Pain.

• Nagato said he was fighting for their justice as Three-Tails' chakra began to gather.
• Three-Tails revived, and Shinsei attacked Deva Path Pain, testing his toughness and repulsive-force barriers.
• Pain used a widespread repulsive force that sent Jiraiya flying, while Shinsei teleported himself and Tsunade to safety with Flying Thunder God.
• Shinsei asked the others to leave Pain to him, but Naruto, Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Mei Terumi refused to retreat.

Shinsei, Naruto, Sasuke, and their allies destroyed Pain’s Chibaku Tensei and left Deva Path Pain weakened. They seized the chance to attack him, and Tsunade landed a powerful blow while Shinsei held him in place.

• Pain used Chibaku Tensei to draw seawater, ships, and the fighters toward a growing sphere, but Naruto held everyone together with his tails.
• Shinsei repeatedly cut into the sphere with Sage Art: Storm Release: Severing Wave, while Sasuke’s Susanoo fired a Chakra arrow that destroyed it.
• Nagato collapsed and coughed blood after the fighters broke his Ninjutsu, while Konan supported him.
• The fighters attacked the weakened Deva Path Pain, but his Shinra Tensei blasted them across the sea.
• Shinsei grabbed Pain and held his arms in place, allowing Tsunade to punch him in the chest and make him spit blood.

Shinsei and the others defeated Deva Path Pain, and Hinata located Nagato beneath the sea so they could pursue him inside the Three-Tails. Before they reached him, a masked man stole one of Nagato’s Rinnegan, leaving Shinsei to prepare for a confrontation with Obito Uchiha.

• Shinsei and Tsunade defeated Deva Path Pain, and Jiraiya sealed Yahiko’s body in a scroll after agreeing to cremate it.
• Mei Terumi agreed to protect Kirigakure’s predecessors’ bodies from Impure World Reincarnation, while Hinata used her Byakugan to find Nagato hiding on the seabed.
• Sasuke brought the Three-Tails to the group, and everyone entered its mouth to travel underwater.
• Obito Uchiha appeared before Nagato and Konan, took one of Nagato’s Rinnegan, and said the eyes had always belonged to him.

After escaping the destroyed ship inside the Three-Tails, Shinsei and the Konoha ninja found Nagato’s abandoned iron sphere and recovered his blood. Back at the island, Mei Terumi commissioned Konoha to seal the Three-Tails into Chōjūrō and considered Shinsei’s request to collect its chakra.

• The group emerged from the Three-Tails and found Nagato’s empty iron sphere, where Shinsei collected a pool of blood for possible Impure World Reincarnation.
• Sasuke guided the Three-Tails as the survivors searched the sea, recovering fewer than half of Kirigakure’s missing ninja.
• Mei Terumi asked Tsunade to accept an S-rank mission to seal the Three-Tails, and Tsunade agreed.
• Mei Terumi chose Chōjūrō as the Three-Tails’ next Jinchūriki and gave Tsunade Kirigakure’s sealing scroll.
• Shinsei asked Mei Terumi for some of the Three-Tails’ chakra, while Ao objected and Mei Terumi reprimanded him.

Shinsei and the Konoha team helped Mei Terumi seal the Three-Tails into Chōjūrō and returned to their island camp after completing the mission. The next morning, Kakashi told Shinsei that the Akatsuki had captured the Two-Tails.

• Shinsei cut off part of the Three-Tails' tail and sealed it in a scroll to collect its chakra.
• Tsunade sealed the Three-Tails into Chōjūrō while Sasuke used his Mangekyō Sharingan to keep it still.
• Mei Terumi paid Tsunade for the mission, and Shinsei urged her to consider forming a joint organization with Konoha against the Akatsuki.
• Shinsei carried the drunken Tsunade to her room, then reflected on his weaknesses and trained his cultivation before resting overnight.

• Shinsei reassured his worried mother that Konoha would be safe despite rumors of a coming war.
• Shinsei recalled how he had helped stop the Akatsuki from capturing Gaara and the Three-Tails.
• Tsunade showed Shinsei Kumogakure’s demand for an explanation over Uchiha Itachi’s attack.

• Kushina scolded Naruto to wash his hands, and the family gathered for dinner with Karin at the Senju ancestral home.
• Shinsei teased Minato about having a child with Kushina and used his instant Rasengan to silence Naruto’s doubts about his skill.

• Minato refused anesthetic at first because he did not want Kushina to call him a sissy, but he cried out as Orochimaru injected the pale green liquid.
• Shinsei gave Minato anesthetic and laid him on the table as the injection began changing his body.
• Shinsei asked whether Orochimaru had met his counterpart in this world, and Orochimaru admitted he had absorbed that counterpart’s memories and soul energy.
• Orochimaru told Shinsei he would not betray Konoha and valued Shinsei’s imaginative ideas because he could help make them real.
• Shinsei asked Orochimaru about decoding nerve signals for Descent of the Thunder God, and Orochimaru said he had one piece of good news and one piece of bad news.

Shinsei and Orochimaru tested a biological computer made from a White Zetsu while discussing ways to improve Shinsei’s Ninjutsu and the Cursed Seal. After Shinsei provided Orochimaru with his cells, he went to check on Minato, who had awakened from surgery.

• Orochimaru told Shinsei that decoding the body’s signals could enable the Descent of the Thunder God, but would take a century without faster computing.
• Orochimaru showed Shinsei a computer connected to a White Zetsu, which answered basic questions but crashed when Shinsei asked a barber paradox.
